Chapter 792: Stronger Together!
Chapter 792: Stronger Together!
Alexei’s enormous claws collided with his duplicate, producing another tremendous shockwave across the military road. Both werewolves twisted their bodies before striking again, their movements almost identical.
However, the difference remained painfully obvious.
His opponent possessed greater physical strength, and each successful attack forced Alexei backwards. Several deep wounds covered his shoulders, while blood continued dripping from his broken left arm.
‘Fuck, this bastard really is stronger.’
Alexei lowered his body before charging forward, swinging his right claw towards the creature’s abdomen.
His fist struck the duplicate’s stomach, forcing the creature backwards several steps. Yet before he could follow, its enormous claws swept towards his exposed chest.
Alexei twisted sideways, avoiding most of the attack. Unfortunately, several claws still tore through his ribs, leaving three enormous wounds across his body.
“AGHH!”
He staggered backwards while clutching his chest, feeling the damaged flesh gradually repair itself. However, the repeated injuries were slowly exhausting him, especially beneath the influence of the Blood Moon.
The duplicate approached without hesitation.
“Your movements are becoming increasingly inefficient.”
Alexei wiped the blood from his mouth.
“Your current combat output has fallen considerably.”
‘Tsk, this fucking thing…’
Alexei couldn’t deny the creature’s assessment.
His movements had become slower, and his left arm still struggled to recover properly. However, something about the duplicate bothered him more than its overwhelming strength.
It didn’t fight like an experienced warrior.
Rather, it fought exactly like him.
Every movement was familiar, including several techniques he’d learned from his father and the older warriors of the Volkov clan. Even the way it shifted its weight before attacking resembled his own habits.
‘So that’s your problem…’
Alexei slowly smiled.
The duplicate tilted its head.
“Explain your expression.”
“Nothing. I just realised something interesting.”
He lowered his enormous arms and relaxed his shoulders, allowing his injured body to recover for several seconds.
‘I shouldn’t fight like normal…
Remember the fights with Nikolai… those days in the training room…’
The duplicate remained motionless as if confident in battle, or was it merely recording the battle for more data on Alexei to perfect itself further?!
Alexei slowly adjusted his stance, lowering his centre of gravity while allowing his injured left arm to hang beside his body.
His opponent immediately responded, shifting its enormous claws towards the position where Alexei would normally attack. The reaction was almost instantaneous, as though the creature already understood his next movement.
‘That’s right… You’re copying everything I do.’
He remembered his earlier training sessions with Nikolai, especially those frustrating days when his brother would defeat him despite their similar physical strength.
Nikolai had always been unpredictable, constantly changing his techniques and occasionally performing ridiculous movements that shouldn’t have worked. Yet those strange attacks often succeeded because Alexei couldn’t anticipate them.
‘Well, let’s see if that works.’
Alexei suddenly charged forward, raising his right claw towards the duplicate’s chest. The creature immediately prepared to intercept his attack, spreading its feet across the cracked concrete while its enormous muscles tightened.
However, rather than completing his attack, Alexei deliberately stumbled.
His injured body tilted sideways, allowing the duplicate’s claws to pass above his shoulder. The creature hesitated for a moment, seemingly confused by the unexpected movement, but its combat instincts quickly forced it to adjust.
Unfortunately, Alexei had already recovered.
CRAAAAACK!
His enormous fist struck the duplicate’s knee, bending the joint backwards before the creature could redistribute its weight. The sudden injury forced it to stumble, giving Alexei enough time to grab its damaged leg and twist violently.
BOOOOOOM!
The enormous werewolf crashed against the concrete, scattering broken stones across the surrounding road. Alexei immediately followed, driving his claws towards the creature’s exposed throat, but his opponent managed to intercept the attack.
‘Fucking hell, even that wasn’t enough!’
Rather than attempting to overpower the creature, Alexei released his grip and stepped backwards, allowing its enormous claws to strike the ground where his body had been moments earlier. The impact shattered the concrete, leaving several deep cracks across the road.
For the first time, Alexei noticed the creature’s expression changing.
“What’s the matter? Did you fail to analyse me?”
The duplicate slowly stood, its damaged knee already beginning to regenerate. Its golden eyes remained fixed upon Alexei, while several unnatural tremors spread across the muscles surrounding its neck.
“Recalculating previous combat information.”
Alexei grinned, revealing his enormous fangs.
‘So you really are analysing everything…’
However, he didn’t intend to give the creature enough time to finish whatever calculations it was performing. Alexei immediately launched himself forward again, this time swinging his enormous right arm towards its head.
The duplicate reacted almost perfectly.
CLAAAAANG!
Their claws collided, sending another powerful shockwave across the military road. However, Alexei suddenly twisted his body and struck with his injured left arm, ignoring the excruciating pain spreading through his shoulder.
His fist struck the creature’s face, shattering several teeth and forcing its head backwards. Unfortunately, the attack also caused his damaged arm to bend unnaturally, sending a sharp pain through his chest.
“AGHH!”
Alexei staggered, momentarily losing his balance.
Its enormous claws struck his exposed shoulder, tearing through the damaged flesh before grabbing his throat. Alexei struggled to defend himself, but the creature’s superior strength prevented him from escaping.
His enormous body slammed against the concrete.
The impact shattered several ribs, forcing blood from his mouth while the duplicate continued pressing down against his throat. Alexei desperately grabbed its wrist, attempting to force the claws apart, but his injured arms were already approaching their limits.
‘Fuck… I really messed up.’
The creature leaned closer, its golden eyes shining beneath the crimson moonlight.
“Your improvised movements have been recorded.”
Alexei clenched his teeth.
“Further resistance will prove ineffective.”
The duplicate slowly tightened its grip, crushing the muscles surrounding his throat. His vision began darkening, while the enormous pressure prevented him from drawing another breath.
‘This fucking bastard…’
He couldn’t overcome that strength alone.
And even if he managed to escape, the creature would simply adapt to whatever technique he attempted next.
‘Then why am I fighting alone?’
Alexei suddenly remembered Nikolai’s words during their preparations. They weren’t supposed to prove their individual strength, nor did any of them need to defeat the Nosferatu without assistance.
They were brothers.
And brothers fought together.
BOOOOOOM!
An enormous brown figure suddenly crashed into the duplicate, sending both creatures flying across the ruined road.
Alexei rolled onto his side, coughing violently as air finally returned to his lungs. His vision gradually recovered, allowing him to recognise Vernan standing several metres away.
Unfortunately, the enormous bear wasn’t in particularly good condition either.
Several deep wounds covered his chest, while his left shoulder hung unnaturally beside his body. Even his thick fur had been torn away in several places, revealing the damaged muscles beneath.
However, Vernan’s expression remained determined.
“Brother! We need to fight together!”
Alexei wiped the blood from his mouth before slowly rising.
“You’re right… We can’t beat them separately.”
Vernan nodded before glancing towards their approaching opponents. His duplicate had already recovered from the earlier exchange, while Alexei’s copy slowly emerged from the shattered remains of a military vehicle.
Both creatures appeared considerably healthier than their originals.
‘What a disgusting situation.’
Alexei studied the two monsters carefully, watching how they approached without communicating. Their movements were precise, but each creature remained entirely focused upon its respective target.
‘They can predict our individual movements…’
His gaze shifted towards Vernan.
‘But can they predict us together?’
“Vernan, follow my movements and attack when I give the signal. Don’t fight your own copy anymore, understood?”
The bear glanced towards him, his expression becoming unusually serious.
“Understood, brother. I’ll follow your lead.”
Alexei smiled before lowering his body.
The two duplicates immediately responded, their enormous claws extending as they prepared to intercept another attack. However, instead of rushing towards their respective opponents, Alexei and Vernan suddenly charged towards each other.
For a brief moment, the creatures hesitated.
‘Now!’
Alexei twisted sideways, allowing Vernan to pass beside him before suddenly changing direction. The enormous bear immediately followed his instructions, swinging his remaining fist towards Alexei’s duplicate.
BOOOOOOM!
The powerful strike caught the werewolf completely off guard, sending its enormous body crashing against a nearby wall. At the same moment, Alexei rushed towards Vernan’s duplicate, driving his claws into the creature’s exposed shoulder.
Black blood erupted across the concrete.
The bear attempted to retaliate, but Alexei immediately retreated before its enormous claws could reach him. Meanwhile, Vernan had already changed direction, rushing towards his injured opponent from behind.
BANG!
His enormous fist struck the duplicate’s spine, forcing it forward.
Alexei immediately understood the opportunity.
‘Perfect!’
He lowered his body before driving his remaining strength into another attack, striking the creature’s exposed abdomen with his right claw.
Several ribs shattered beneath the impact, causing the duplicate to stumble backwards. However, before it could recover, Vernan wrapped both arms around its enormous torso.
“NOW, BROTHER!”
Alexei grinned as his claws pierced the creature’s chest.
The enormous werewolf screamed, struggling violently against Vernan’s grip while Alexei forced his arm deeper into its body.
Yet even with its chest torn apart, the creature continued fighting. Its enormous jaws opened before sinking into Alexei’s injured shoulder.
“ARGHH!”
Alexei’s expression twisted as several teeth tore through his damaged muscles. However, he refused to release his grip, instead twisting his claws within the creature’s chest.
‘Come on, you fucking bastard!’
Vernan roared behind the duplicate, tightening his enormous arms around its body. His muscles expanded violently, while several wounds reopened across his chest and shoulders.
CRAAAAACK!
The creature’s ribs began collapsing.
Alexei finally withdrew his claws, bringing a large section of the duplicate’s damaged heart with them.
Black blood sprayed across his face as the creature staggered, its enormous body trembling beneath Vernan’s grip. However, before either warrior could finish it, another powerful aura approached from behind.
‘The other one!’
Alexei’s golden eyes widened.
His opponent had recovered.
And judging by the tremendous pressure surrounding its body, the creature was preparing to attack both of them simultaneously.
“VERNAN! GET DOWN!”
Unfortunately, the warning came too late.
BOOOOOOM!
An enormous claw struck Vernan’s exposed back, sending the bear crashing against Alexei while their wounded opponent collapsed beside them.
The two warriors rolled across the ruined concrete, their bodies covered in blood.
Alexei struggled to recover, but his injured left arm finally gave way beneath his weight.
‘Fuck…’
He couldn’t move properly.
Vernan wasn’t much better.
And standing several metres away…
Their remaining opponent slowly approached.
“Cooperative combat pattern identified.”
Alexei clenched his teeth.
The creature’s golden eyes shifted between them.
“Additional countermeasures are being calculated.”
‘Ryan…’
Alexei glanced towards the distant control station, hoping their human brother had managed to accomplish something because at this rate, they might just die here.
Ryan stood atop the broken jeep, his body covered in blood, bruises and strange half-burned scales… while holding two Desert Eagles in the air, both barrels smoking.
BANG! BANG!
Two bullets tore through the duplicate’s chest, forcing it to stumble backwards. Ryan stood atop the ruined jeep, his bloodied body covered in strange, half-burned scales while smoke rose from his Desert Eagles.
“GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF MY BROTHERS!”
Alexei stared in disbelief before grinning.
‘That crazy bastard survived!’
“Alexei! Vernan! I’ve already killed mine, so get your fucking asses up!”
Ryan continued firing, preventing the duplicate from approaching. Despite its regeneration, the creature struggled against the relentless gunfire.
Alexei forced himself upright, while Vernan staggered beside him.
Both exchanged a bloody smile.
“Ryan! Keep it occupied! We’ll finish this together!”
“THEN FUCKING HURRY!”
The two enormous warriors charged forward, their exhausted bodies gathering their remaining strength as Ryan’s gunfire echoed across the ruined road.
