Chapter 699: Fast Speed Shadow 7 Promotional Parade Scene
"Movens! Movens! Over here!"
A young woman screamed loudly, and a man's whistle sounded through the crowd.
Looking at the scene, it was hard to tell exactly what people had stopped for. After all, that car and that man were both rare sights—irresistible to both men and women. Once you saw them, you simply couldn't look away.
Even though it was broad daylight, the dense camera flashes did not stop, making people's eyes sting.
The blond man in the car waved cheerfully, then pulled the pretty girl in the passenger seat into his arms, successfully provoking a string of shrieks from the crowd.
The woman whose shoulders were wrapped still raised an arm to show off a perfect waistline, smiling as she sent out heart-shaped waves to the fans around her.
If anyone else had done that set of moves, it might have seemed a little greasy, but paired with the red convertible Ferrari and their good looks, the performance—almost like throwing food to the crowd—only triggered louder cheers.
This spectacle didn't match the earlier off-site shoot, but it was still extravagantly over the top. Every time Xiao He saw a scene like this, he couldn't help but marvel at the capital and power behind this production team. Gathering the man and the car together and pulling off this effect perfectly was something an ordinary crew couldn't manage.
Describing them as "loaded and arrogant" would actually be an understatement.
Following the car carrying Movens, in sequence, came the Fast Speed Shadow 7 second male lead, who was also an important member of the main cast and practically a close buddy.Xiao He's own role—appearing only in the last installment of the Fast Speed Shadow series—was slotted fourth in the lineup.
It was obvious the production had given him special treatment.
So, with the sports cars deliberately throttling down into a low, throaty rumble, the man driving the silver-blue sports car kept pace with the convoy.
Today the young man wasn't wearing racing gear; he had layered a blue plaid shirt over a light gray hoodie, his hair styled in a forward American cut that made him look bold and unrestrained. His aura finally picked up a rapper-like street hip-hop vibe, and he even wore several silver rings on his fingers.
If this outfit weren't already bulky and modest, the designer would have slapped a few wildly tattooed looks on Xiao He.
He felt certain that if he had a microphone right now, he could drive and rap at the same time.
This styling fully matched Western fashion trends, a complete break from Xiao He's usual looks—so different his mother would probably want to hit him.
But to be honest, when he stepped out, he really did stand out.
The only unfortunate thing was that the screams directed at Xiao He were buried in the overall noise of the crowd, mixed with whistles and cheers, making it hard to tell who his fans were.
Xiao He decided to focus on posing. One hand casually rested on the steering wheel, the other slung lazily out the window. His eyes, rimmed with a touch of smoky makeup, narrowed slightly as he nonchalantly scanned the crowd.
"Brother Xiao! Brother Xiao!"
Someone finally recognized Xiao He, cutting through the din with a piercing, heart-rending shout that could have ruptured eardrums and made people jump.
Xiao He instinctively turned his head and happened to spot a China girl dressed in kawaii Lolita, holding a small parasol.
How could he be so sure she was from China?
Because standing beside her was Ban Zheyu, waving a banner and bouncing up and down with excitement.
Ban Zheyu had a little plush bag dangling from his wrist that matched the girl's Lolita outfit.
There was no doubt they had come together.
If Xiao He's guess was correct, this girl should be the sister Ban Zheyu had raved about being super fond of.
Xiao He smiled immediately.
Ban Zheyu's sister was something of a legend—Xiao He had signed photos for Ban Zheyu several times, and now he finally had a chance to see her in person.
He waved kindly in their direction.
That drew another scream.
"Sis! Sis, could you be a little gentler?"
Ban Zheyu rubbed his ringing ears, helpless. "All that vocal training you used on fangirling, really?"
"Ah! Brother Xiao! Don't mind me, didn't you see he looked this way because of my voice? It's because I'm loud!"
Ban Wenyue beamed proudly and lifted her chin.
"This is all the valuable experience I gained from years of fangirling! Never failed once!"
Ban Zheyu's mouth twitched. He could hardly believe his sister looked like a little cupcake yet produced such a powerful voice.
"Is that the loud noise over there, are they coming?"
Someone nearby murmured while craning their neck to look, and just then a long row of cars came into view at the far end of the road.
Xiao Chen's expression tightened as he did a final check on his camera settings, then bent over and stood ready behind his tripod waiting for the approaching vehicles.
Liu Rulan pulled out her phone to film as well.
Within half a minute the convoy rolled up.
Liu Rulan immediately spotted Xiao He in the middle position.
Xiao He saw Sister Liu and the others.
They had arrived earlier, so they stood in a prominent, highly visible front row.
Xiao He swept his gaze, and unsurprisingly saw Xiao Chen manically pressing the shutter behind his lens.
He put both hands on the wheel and shot a handsome wink toward Xiao Chen's camera.
Yep, all that practice in front of the mirror was for this moment!
Sure enough, Xiao Chen sped up his shutter speed, and even as Xiao He drove past, the camera's mechanical click-click kept firing.
Beside Xiao Chen, however, a photographer with a full bushy beard looked like a man who had already won. He pressed the shutter only three times without blinking, then lowered his head to check the images on his own camera, entirely unconcerned whether those three shots would be enough to choose from.
Even after Xiao He had driven out of sight, that photographer didn't look up.
Wow, definitely a heavyweight—standing right next to Xiao Chen...
Could this be the street photographer the Fast Speed Shadow 7 crew had recruited?
Xiao He was curious, but he didn't give the man any special treatment. He carried on with normal promotional business, turning his head left and right to attend to fans on both sides.
"Brother Xiao! Brother Xiao!"
Other fans who caught Xiao He's gaze screamed even louder.
He didn't look back again for the rest of the route.
That turn kept him busy until the afternoon.
"Thanks for your hard work."
Xiao He stepped out of the car and handed the keys back to the staff.
Other Fast Speed Shadow 7 cast members came over to greet him again, acting more friendly than they had before going out—some who had seemed cold that morning were suddenly warm now.
It was both surprising and not surprising.
Xiao He guessed it had to do with the event earlier showing them how popular he was abroad, so they were engaging in hindsight friendliness to show goodwill.
It made no real difference to him.
After exchanging greetings with Liya and Movens, Xiao He moved to change clothes.
But he had only taken a few steps before James rushed up to him in a haste.
"Xiao He, quick, something happened, come with me to the hospital!"
