Chapter 2761: The Whole Truth

So far, as the memories continued unfolding, the twins had uncovered many disturbing truths. Measure after measure their so-called mother had taken in pursuit of her ambition to defeat death revealed just how far she had been willing to go. Each step had been deliberate. Each choice had been calculated. Yet the twins still could not see how any of it was supposed to help her actually beat death.

The pieces were all there in the memories they had witnessed. The rituals, the arrangements, the careful shaping of their own birth. When they stepped back and looked at the fragments together, the outline of her plan began to form.

Both of them had already guessed where those pieces were pointing. But both Coryn and Reven refused to arrive at the obvious conclusion. Because then the identity crisis they were trying to suppress would burst forth and swallow them.

However, there was only so long they could refuse the obvious and hide behind ignorance. Soon they reached the part of the memories where the truth had been staring at them for far too long to deny. They had gone too deep into her past to turn away now. And so they finally accepted it.

During the first trimester of her pregnancy, their mother had already begun working on them. Using her witchcraft, she carefully refined the developing conjoined fetus inside her womb, shaping it into what she considered the perfect vessel.

A vessel meant for herself. Her grand plan to defeat death, after failing countless times to overcome it directly, had been terrifyingly simple in concept. She would abandon her old body and move her soul into a new one. Not through ordinary soul swapping, but through something closer to induced reincarnation.

After giving birth, she planned to die deliberately. Her death would occur during the ritual that forged the Dragon Dicing Saber, using her own body and power as the material for its creation.

But while her body would perish, her soul would not follow the normal cycle of reincarnation. Instead, her soul was meant to return to the vessel she had prepared through a high-tier witchcraft known as Induced Reincarnation. It was a forbidden spell with an abysmal success rate. In fact, there were no verified records of it ever working.

That was what made it so terrifying. The spell itself had been created by studying a rare Chivalry possessed by a man long ago. His ability allowed him to be reborn through his own descendants, letting his soul pass down the bloodline again and again. As long as his lineage continued, death could never truly claim him.

It was the closest thing the world had ever seen to cheating death. Unfortunately for him, the witches eventually learned about his Chivalry. Fascinated by its implications, they hunted down his entire bloodline and exterminated them one by one, studying their bodies and souls until they finally managed to recreate a crude version of the ability.

That research eventually became the spell known as Induced Reincarnation. A brutal and crude imitation of the original chivalry, built on the destruction of an entire lineage. Hence, their mother, or rather the woman who would eventually become them, arrived at a terrifying conclusion.

The way to defeat the cursed prophecy was not to avoid it. It was to embrace it. That realization was the reason she went through with the pregnancy in the first place. When she discovered the pregnancy spell and later learned about the forbidden ritual of Induced Reincarnation, the pieces of her plan began to fall into place.

Everything suddenly made sense to her. The prophecy that foretold her death no longer looked like an unavoidable end. Instead, it became the final step of a carefully arranged ritual. By allowing the prophecy to unfold exactly as foretold, she could trigger the conditions needed for the reincarnation spell.

In her mind, the curse was no longer a threat. It was the answer she had been looking for to beat death by letting her die exactly as predicted, only to return in a new body she had personally designed.

Also, because her soul was far too vast and powerful for a single newborn body to contain, she had created conjoined twins to hold it. When the moment came, her soul would split into two halves and settle within the twin souls she had carefully prepared.

Ultimately, she would pour her martial prowess, witch craft, and body into the Dragon Dicing Saber, while her soul would rest in the conjoined twins she would give birth to. That way when all three of them come together it would mark her rebirth beating the death itself.

In short, she would kill herself and be reborn as her children and the Dragon Dicing Saber and when they come together it would be time for her massive soul to come out and take control.

The twins struggled to keep their consciousness from slipping away as the memories carried them deeper and deeper. The flood of revelations was overwhelming, but until now something inside them had kept them awake, a fragile thread of meaning they could still cling to.

That thread finally snapped when they learned the truth about King James. The man who had loved them like his own daughters, who had protected them despite their deformity and the whispers that followed them everywhere.

The twins had always believed that love was genuine. But the memories told a different story.

King James had given his elder sister one boon. Years ago, when he had asked his sister to marry the Emperor and enter the palace as the Thirteenth Concubine, he had sworn to her that if anything ever happened, he would protect her children as his own.

And he had kept that promise even if she didn’t want to because boon was not just some verbal contract but a power witchcraft. Corey would be stupid to trust the words of the man who was prepared to sell his sister who was basically his mother. She had her plan but King James only knew the gravity of what had bargained too late.

Even when those children were born as conjoined twins. Even when the court called them monsters. Even when their existence brought nothing but political trouble.

He loved them. But he had loved them because he had to, forced by witchcraft. The realization hollowed something inside them. And the memories continued.

Their mother had known from the beginning that the plan would not restore her completely. When her soul divided and returned, she would not awaken whole. She had accepted that.

So she had orchestrated everything. Every relationship. Every alliance. Every tragedy surrounding their lives had been arranged to guide the future she needed. Even the world they grew up in had been carefully shaped to protect the long game she had set in motion.

She had planned not only her life. But her life after death. All of it had been part of her strategy to eventually defeat death itself.

By the time the memories finally slowed, the twins understood something that shattered what remained of their sense of self. Nothing about their birth had been natural. Nothing about their lives had been real. Overwhelmed by the weight of it all, their minds simply stopped resisting. They let go.
