"No, sir. They have made no demands, nor have they responded to any of our attempts to contact them. So Matriarch Ali was preparing to personally approach them," the City Lord reported respectfully to the captain of the Western Palace Guards.

After listening to the report, the Guard Captain briefly glanced at Matriarch Ali before his eyes suddenly narrowed.

In the distance, in the city, he spotted three demigods hurriedly slipping into the crowd as though trying to avoid attention. Their auras were unstable, their expressions tense, and the way they moved made it obvious they were fleeing something after a good battle for life.

The captain immediately pointed toward them. "Do you know those three?" he asked the City Lord.

Before the City Lord could respond, Matriarch Ali suddenly recognized one of the demigods and her expression darkened instantly.

"What are you doing here?" she snapped furiously as she stepped forward. "Where’s Zora? And don’t you dare give me that ’she’s sleeping’ nonsense again. I’ll skin you alive for real this time!"

Her furious voice immediately drew everyone’s attention toward the three demigods. The panic and guilt on their faces became impossible to hide.

"Madam Matriarch," the demigod hurriedly said as he dropped to one knee in panic, "a group of high school students from the Southern Region calling themselves the Bright Lions Security Agency defeated the Seven Knights in Red and took the young mistress and the other young masters hostage. When we attempted to rescue them, a kid from the Cervos Family of the Southern Region blocked us with two SSS-rank corpse dragons. Four of our demigods were killed during the battle."

Sweat dripped down his face as he lowered his head further.

"The three of us escaped to seek reinforcements, but after learning about the situation here, we delayed reporting directly to you first. Please forgive this subordinate’s grave sin."

The speaker was the same demigod who had fled first after witnessing the corpse dragons slaughter their companions. He was a retainer of the Ali Family and Zora Ali’s personal guards.

In truth, the three of them had originally planned to blend into the crowd and quietly escape during the chaos not wanting to face the consequence of their defeat and neglect of duty. As long as the city descended into battle, they believed nobody would notice their disappearance.

But now that they had been caught and singled out in front of everyone, the only thing he could do was desperately piece together an explanation that sounded somewhat reasonable.

"Bright Lion Security Agency you say," the Guard Captain muttered, before nodding, "Now it all makes sense."

Looking at the puzzled expressions on the faces of the City Lord, the family heads, and the gathered demigods, the captain of the Western Palace Guards frowned deeply before snapping,

"Don’t tell me you people know nothing about what’s happening outside this city of yours?"

His sharp gaze swept across the crowd before he continued coldly,

"The Bright Lions Security Agency is one of the organizations affiliated with the New Empire established by the former Southern Hope, Dalton Wyatt. And Saintess Catherine and Demigod Redfall are also part of that same force. In fact, all of them were major players in the founding of the New Empire."

The moment those words fell, the surrounding atmosphere instantly turned heavy.

Several family heads widened their eyes in disbelief, while others felt their scalps go numb. Scarlet Berg had been so isolated and focused on its internal survival that many of them only possessed fragmented information about events occurring in the Southern Region.

But even they had heard the name Dalton Wyatt before.

The former Southern Hope who had shaken the entire five regions with his discoveries and creation. They simply couldn’t picture him suddenly emerging again at the center of a newly rising empire.

Looking at the confused yet still unconvinced expressions on their faces, the vice captain of the palace guard squad stared at them in disbelief before shouting, "Have you people been living under a rock? This is all over the grimoire network!"

The family heads exchanged awkward glances with one another. Scarlet Berg was located far from the political center of the Western Region, and most of them paid little attention to outside affairs unless they directly affected the city’s profits or survival.

"We heard the world decree from all five regions stating that Dalton Wyatt and everyone associated with him were declared traitors to the Five Regions, with massive rewards placed on their heads," Patriarch Bale replied cautiously.

The vice captain immediately snapped back in irritation, "Everyone in the Five Regions heard that part!"

His expression looked as though he could not believe what he was hearing.

"That announcement was only the beginning. Since then, the entire grimoire network has practically been flooded with reports about the New Empire, their expansion, their battles, and the factions siding with them. Yet you people somehow know nothing?"

The more he spoke, the stranger the situation felt to the palace guards.

For a city as large and influential as Scarlet Berg to be this disconnected from major events happening across the continent was honestly absurd.

Meanwhile the City Lord and heads of six families contemplated that If Saintess Catherine, Redfall, and even the Bright Lions Security Agency all belonged to the same faction, then the matter before them was no longer some isolated conflict involving hostage-taking or attacking the city.

They were staring at the influence of an entirely new power in their city without them realizing it.

"Stop wasting your breath on them," the captain of the Western Palace Guards said coldly. "Right now, our priority is capturing everyone from the Bright Lions Security Agency at any cost."

The moment the order was given, the palace guards immediately prepared to move, their expressions turning sharp and serious.

Hearing this, the City Lord’s face paled.

"What about us? What about the city?" he asked in panic, clearly aware that Saintess Catherine and Redfall would never allow the palace guards to move freely without interference.

The captain did not even bother looking back as he answered,

"Forget the city. This matter takes priority."

His voice was ice-cold, carrying not the slightest trace of hesitation.

"Hold them back, even if it costs your lives. Otherwise..." He finally turned his head slightly, his eyes filled with oppressive killing intent. "I will personally hunt every one of you down."

The threat caused the expressions of the City Lord and the family heads to turn ugly.

At that moment, they finally understood something terrifying.

To the Western Royal Palace, Scarlet Berg itself was expendable.
