Chapter 3110: A Celestial World Devouring Tree?
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Lil’ Red Storm Realm
Thalorian found that his circumstance unbelievable. It was as though his millions of Frost Rule Meanings were merely soil and the roots were simply growing through them. And for the first time, Thalorien felt genuine fear. He had spent his entire life believing that the Frost Rule could overcome almost anything. Now he was watching roots from another existence casually ignore it.
They weren’t overpowering his Frost Rule. They were simply growing through it. And they were getting closer and closer to his core. Thalorien found himself completely helpless against the enemy’s physical strength and resilience.
But the roots were the worst of it. They had already spread throughout his Frost Incarnation, branching through his enormous body and eventually finding his Unholy Core.
Thalorien immediately tried to move the core, playing a hide and seek game with the roots. His Frost Rule Incarnation had been constructed from countless layers of Frost Rule, and under normal circumstances, he could freely shift its internal structure at his whim. He attempted to relocate the core deeper into his body, hoping to put distance between it and the invading roots.
It was useless. The roots had already spread everywhere, throughout his Frost Rule Incarnation Body. No matter where he tried to move the core, there were already roots waiting for it. With no other option, Thalorien poured his entire strength into reinforcing the Unholy Core. Layers upon layers of Frost Rule Meaning condensed around it, creating an extremely dense defensive shell.
He was prepared to endure the roots’ assault. Instead, the roots simply dug into the core. Thalorien’s expression changed. They pierced through his defenses and entered his Ethereal Sea. That should have been impossible.
His Ethereal Sea was the foundation of his spiritual existence housing his Ethereal Spirit, Frost Rule Stream, and other rules and runes. Yet the roots didn’t hesitate. They ignored everything within the Ethereal Sea, Even His Ethereal and continued toward one thing. Straight toward his Fat Frost Rule Stream.
The moment the roots reached it, Thalorien felt something he had never experienced before. They dug directly into his Frost Rule Stream. Then they began siphoning it. His Rule Power started flowing into the roots. Thalorien’s face turned pale. His Frost Rule Stream was the culmination of his entire existence. It contained millions of Frost Rule Meanings and represented countless years of comprehension and accumulation. Yet these roots were treating it like a source of nourishment. They weren’t destroying his Frost Rule. They were feeding on it.
Thalorien instinctively tried to sever the affected portion of his Frost Rule Stream despite knowing his attempts would prove futile just like all his previous attempts. The roots had already spread too deeply. Before he could do anything else, a cry echoed through their connection.
The Frost Rule Stream Spirit. It sensed what was happening. The spirit that had been attempting to freeze the suns immediately abandoned its target and rushed back toward Thalorien’s Frost Rule Stream.
Its expression was filled with pain and horror. It desperately attacked the invading roots. Frost surged through the Stream. Countless Frost Rule Meanings erupted simultaneously. It tried everything its master had tried and more and the result was the same, the roots continued on ignoring its attempts to destroy it as mere inconvenience.
The Stream Spirit tried again and again just like its master ones did. It reached the same helpless conclusion, nothing seemed to work against the roots. The roots simply endured everything the Stream Spirit threw at them while continuing to siphon energy from the Frost Rule Stream.
Thalorien and his Frost Rule Stream Spirit could only helplessly watch, with every passing moment, more of their accumulated Frost Rule being devoured by the Celestial Treant.
Faced with his helplessness and the limits of his own power, frantic desperation gradually gave way to cold focus. Thalorien stopped struggling blindly. For the first time since the roots had invaded his Frost Incarnation, he forced himself to examine them properly. He hadn’t given up.
If anything, the realization that brute force was useless made him more determined to understand what he was dealing with. His perception followed the roots as they spread through his Frost Incarnation. He observed their structure, their growth patterns, the way they interacted with his Frost Rule, and most importantly, the manner in which they absorbed his Rule Power.
Something felt familiar. Thalorien frowned. He had seen roots like these before. No, not merely seen them. He had studied them. A memory from his youth surfaced, buried beneath countless other pieces of knowledge he had accumulated throughout his long life. The realization struck him so suddenly that his thoughts went blank. ‘Impossible.’
He examined the roots again and again. He compared their characteristics against the memories buried within his mind. Their ability to invade foreign energy systems. Their terrifying vitality. Their method of taking root within an opponent’s body. Their ability to consume energy without being overwhelmed by the nature of that energy. Everything matched.
The more he examined them, the more certain he became. And the more certain he became, the more unbelievable the conclusion appeared. Thalorien repeated the process several times. He searched for inconsistencies like a difference in structure, a missing characteristic. Anything that could prove his conclusion wrong. There was none.
His expression gradually became one of disbelief. How could this be? The existence he was looking at shouldn’t exist.
The World-Devouring Trees had once been one of the most terrifying races in the Myriad Realms. Their ability to consume worlds and turn the energy of those worlds into nourishment had made them enemies of countless civilizations.
They had eventually been hunted. Not defeated, but hunted to extinction. The various powerful forces of the Myriad Realms had joined together to eradicate them because allowing a single seed to survive meant allowing something capable of consuming entire worlds to continue growing unchecked.
As far as Thalorien knew, the World-Devouring Trees had been driven to extinction. Yet the roots currently digging into his Frost Rule Stream possessed characteristics he had studied from that very race. There was only one conclusion.
Thalorien slowly raised his head. His gaze traveled along the enormous roots and finally settled on the Celestial Treant standing before him. He needed confirmation. Not because he still doubted his conclusion. He simply couldn’t bring himself to believe it.
So he watched Dalia carefully, using every sense available to him to monitor the slightest change in her expression, aura, and soul fluctuations. Then he finally spoke, ‘You are a Celestial-level World-Devouring Tree!’
