Chapter 3212: Trait: Eternity, Card: Inheritance Jewel

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Azorheim, Temporal Cave Valley, Temporal Cave No. ES3030

There were so many ways the Barred Beings could come to know about DreDre, the peculiar pixie capable of hopping between the plane of the living and the plane of the dead, summoning and wielding the power of the Breath of Erosion, and ultimately trace all the discrepancies with DreDre back to me.

However, I wasn’t worried because I had a solution for this. DreDre was able to use a part of her strength because of my influence on her. What if I wasn’t there to influence her anymore? She would gradually lose her abilities to hop between the plane of the living and the plane of the dead, summon and wield the power of the Breath of Erosion, and ultimately return to being the regular pixie the entire Myriad Realms seemed to remember for some reason.

Yes, all I had to do was stay away from DreDre long enough for her bloodline curse to strengthen again, turning her into her old self who got frightened easily. However, that was easier said than done, as it was akin to knowingly letting your friend suffer from poison. I was capable of many heartless and cruel things in the name of logic, but right now, my logic said I should focus on growing stronger rather than willfully letting my friend suffer.

So, yeah. I didn’t have any plans of living in DreDre, even if it was just for a while. I wouldn’t actively help her get better, but I also wouldn’t actively let her get worse.

I had no plans of losing myself while trying to save the cosmos. I planned to save it without compromising myself and my values.

Therefore, I stopped worrying about DreDre and the consequences of a Barred Being learning about the weakening of her bloodline curse. Instead, I focused on my work. Besides, I had no idea how much time the Demon Merchant Code hearing that was in an hour would take. So, I needed to speed up and try to finish my responsibilities with the New Empire before it was time for the hearing.

So, where was I?

I was in the midst of figuring out a way for card apprentices to pass on their cards, runes, divinity, etc., as inheritance efficiently and safely, and had settled on the Truevils as the answer because of the racial trait ‘Eternity’ that I inherited when Scar became my bloodkin.

[Soul Trait: Eternity

Type: Acquired

Effect:

i) The card apprentice can store energy for eternity without any loss.

ii) The card apprentice’s energy consumption is reduced to virtually zero, so they take an almost endless time to age after reaching adulthood.]

This was one of the racial traits of the Truevil race, making them one of the most dreaded beings across the Myriad Realms. Zero energy loss and virtually zero energy consumed, with a side effect akin to eternal youth. They were simply the most biologically efficient beings I had met, aside from the Primordial Pixies.

Enough about the Truevils. I chose them because of their Eternity trait. I didn’t expect to inherit it by turning one of the Truevils into my bloodkin. This made things easier for me because I didn’t have to waste time trying to extract the soul pathways responsible for the trait in the Truevils and apply them to create artificial jewels capable of storing cards, runes, divinity, etc., as inheritance efficiently and safely for eternity.

Now all I had to do was create pseudo-soul gems, turn them into cards, and done. Just kidding. I was going to use the reconstruction of the pseudo-soul gems, erasing all the unnecessary soul pathways and retaining only the Eternity trait, to create a replica of the Ruby Vault known as Inheritance Jewels, capable of storing cards, runes, divinity, etc., as inheritance efficiently and safely. Then, I would turn them into cards and distribute them to the card apprentices who had commissioned them.

As much as I would love to make Inheritance Jewel Cards publicly available to everyone, like the Soul Core Card and the others, they could easily be misused by those with ill intentions. There were already card apprentices killing and getting killed for their grimoires and divinities. I didn’t want card apprentices to start killing each other for their Inheritance Jewel Cards.

Well, I had added security measures, like the last witness and will, to the Inheritance Jewel Cards, but I was sure some smartass with enough greed would soon find a way around them. So, for the sake of social order, I planned to make them a luxury item rather than a public good.

[Card Name: Inheritance Jewel

Type: Item

Rank: E-rank, Common

Rate: 1-star

Durability: (100/100)

Effect: A jewel for a card apprentice to leave behind their cards, runes, divinity, etc., as inheritance efficiently and safely.

Additional Effects:

i) Will: The card apprentice can leave behind a part of their memory or consciousness as a will. A memory will is a recorded message, while a conscious will can relay the card apprentice’s message and has the authority to act according to a predetermined set of rules, set by the card apprentice, for selecting the executor, inheritor, etc.

ii) Last Witness: If equipped, the Jewel will automatically record the card apprentice’s last moments when they die.

iii) Bloodline Tracing and Lock: The card apprentice can place a bloodline lock on the Jewel so that, upon their death, only those who belong to their bloodline can find and unlock it.

Note:

i)The Inheritance Jewel will only store origin cards and runes; it will not remove their original restrictions. Origin cards will still only be able to be inherited by those from the same bloodline, and the runes will still come with rule contamination. The only difference is that both will be in perfect condition and easier to inherit.]

From my end, I did everything to make sure that the Inheritance Jewel cards would be used for their intended purpose and not be abused by ill-intentioned card apprentices. And also made sure that the card apprentices receiving these cards understood the moral responsibility that cave with it.
