Casting Nets to Catch a Husband

Chapter 147: Nephrite

Chapter 147: Nephrite

Liu Yu put on her clothes and only when she tried to get out of bed did she realize how much it hurt. Her whole body felt as if it had been torn apart.

When Lu Chengxiao came out of the inner room, he saw Liu Yu’s pale face and hesitant steps. He hurried over in a few steps and nervously supported her, “Yu’er, what’s wrong?”

Liu Yu’s face, which had been pale from the pain, turned slightly red at Lu Chengxiao’s words. Her thoughts clearly drifted back to the scenes of last night. She whispered like a mosquito, “It hurts to walk.”

Lu Chengxiao immediately understood. Thinking about how she cried in pain even when he stopped for half an hour last night, his ears also turned hot. He even began to wonder if he had done something wrong and hurt her.

Lu Chengxiao regretted not reading the book Yang Cunxu had given him more carefully.

He became a bit anxious, bent down to lift Liu Yu back onto the bed, and said, “Don’t move yet. It’s okay if the tea ceremony is delayed a bit…”

He hesitated as he spoke, considering the injury in such a place…

He truly didn’t understand, but he was also afraid something might be seriously wrong with Liu Yu, so he softly said, “I’ll quietly go to the clinic and ask if there is any medicine.”

Liu Yu’s face changed with anxiety, and she grabbed him: “Lu Chengxiao, don’t!”

Even though she had never been taught about such things in this life, the madam brought in by Hongniangzi in her past life had explained it: the first time would definitely be painful, especially when… it took two full hours without success. Though she hadn’t seen it, the pain was excruciating, and she could only imagine it was due to his size.

If Lu Chengxiao actually went to the clinic to ask for medicine, Liu Yu felt she would never be able to walk around Changfeng Town again.

She tightly gripped Lu Chengxiao’s lapel, pulling him back, her face flushing red. “You are not allowed to go.”

It was also Lu Chengxiao’s first time facing such a situation. Thinking about the almost unbearable scenes from last night and the tiny spots of blood, his worry was evident.

He understood what Liu Yu was concerned about, and whispered, “Then bear with it for a while. After the tea ceremony, I’ll ride quickly to another town’s clinic.”

Liu Yu was both embarrassed and angry. She lightly bit Lu Chengxiao’s neck, “Don’t you dare! I’ll be fine after resting for a couple of days.”

Lu Chengxiao’s breath hitched. The next moment, he pressed the back of Liu Yu’s neck, his voice hoarse, “Don’t move.”

Leaning over Liu Yu, his breathing was uneven. It took a while for him to calm down. He then sat up and asked Liu Yu, “Will resting really be enough?”

Liu Yu nodded firmly and then tried to get up, only to be held back by Lu Chengxiao again, “Doesn’t it hurt to walk? Just lie down.”

Liu Yu’s face turned red, “I’ll get used to it after walking a bit. Delaying the tea ceremony would be a joke.”

In the end, she took a step in the room, with Lu Chengxiao nervously and cautiously following her every move. Only when he saw Liu Yu gradually adapt, walking without showing discomfort, did he blush and open the door, resolving that next time, no matter what, he would restrain himself and not let this happen again.

But just thinking about the overwhelming pleasure of last night, the nearly consuming ecstasy, made Lu Chengxiao’s breath catch.

Chen Shi had been keeping an eye on the situation here, instructing the maid to watch closely. As soon as the door opened, the maid reported back, and Chen Shi called for her great-niece, who had been waiting, to bring a basin of water for the newlyweds to wash their faces. This task came with a red envelope as a reward.

Chen Shi’s sister-in-law also went in with her granddaughter, naturally to tidy up the bed and collect the bridal handkerchief.

Liu Yu’s face was flushed with embarrassment, but she remembered that Wei Shi had told her about this custom.

After getting dressed and groomed, Liu Yu and Lu Chengxiao went to the main hall to perform the tea ceremony. Lu Chengxiao was so concerned about Liu Yu’s pain that he watched her every step, drawing amused smiles from the Lu family.

After the tea ceremony, recognizing relatives, and receiving a round of gifts, the family finally gathered for breakfast.

During breakfast, Lu Chengxiao was extremely attentive, helping Liu Yu with everything from serving rice to picking dishes. The Lu family found this amusing, and even the little maid and Yu Ge’er, who didn’t quite understand, laughed along, making Liu Yu blush.

After breakfast, Chen Shi didn’t let Liu Yu do any household chores, knowing well the hardships of the second day of marriage. She declared that the new bride should not be overworked for three days and let the young couple return to their room to rest.

Lu Chengxiao was more than happy with this. As soon as Chen Shi finished speaking, he told his father and brothers and accompanied Liu Yu back to their room.

As soon as the door closed, he scooped her up in his arms.

The sudden lift made Liu Yu instinctively wrap her arms around him.

Lu Chengxiao’s lips curved into a smile as he met Liu Yu’s gaze and softly said, “Today, you should rest in bed.”

He then gently placed her on the bed.

Liu Yu did need to rest, but her clothes couldn’t remain wrinkled for lunch. She glanced at Lu Chengxiao.

Lu Chengxiao didn’t understand her intention at all. He adored her and, being newly married, he wished to stay close to her all the time. “You sleep, I’ll stay with you.”

Liu Yu found this amusing. Reflecting on how she had avoided looking at Lu Chengxiao the night before, but he had seen almost everything, she decided not to be coy. With her face slightly flushed, she reached for her clothes.

Lu Chengxiao was momentarily stunned.

Seeing his reaction, Liu Yu thought he surely wouldn’t dare do anything now. Intending to tease him, she undressed slowly, her actions more seductive than simply taking her clothes off.

Lu Chengxiao, having just experienced such pleasure, couldn’t withstand this teasing. He quickly turned his body away, not daring to look at Liu Yu.

Liu Yu couldn’t help but laugh.

Seeing her mischievous smile, Lu Chengxiao realized that Liu Yu was doing this on purpose. He decided not to play the gentleman anymore and, with a swift movement, pulled her into his embrace.

“Are you deliberately seducing me?”

There was a smile in his eyes, but beneath it was a dangerous glint that Liu Yu instinctively felt.

Sure enough, the next moment, his warm, soft lips pressed against hers.

Liu Yu didn’t need to undress herself anymore; Lu Chengxiao took care of everything.

These young lovers, deeply in love, couldn’t get enough of each other. Lu Chengxiao dared not take the final step for fear of hurting Liu Yu again, but he reveled in their kisses, savoring every moment.

Relying on instinct, Lu Chengxiao learned and explored, noting every one of Liu Yu’s reactions—what she liked, what she feared, and where she was most sensitive.

It was like getting a brand-new toy, the most cherished in the world, becoming addicted to it, loving to provoke her pleasure, and relishing in the exclusive, bewitching allure she showed him.

Liu Yu’s breathing became erratic, unable to stop. The pain and discomfort vanished, replaced by an indescribable sense of emptiness and longing, driving her to distraction.

“Lu Chengxiao.”

She murmured his name softly, her hands entwining around him.

Lu Chengxiao felt even more overwhelmed, yet he dared not proceed further, not willing to stop either, preferring to drive himself crazy rather than retreat.

Liu Yu felt her bones turn to mush, instinctively clinging to Lu Chengxiao despite her weakness.

The coolness of late autumn couldn’t lower the temperature inside the red canopy. Liu Yu’s body was covered in a thin layer of sweat.

Lu Chengxiao was on the brink of madness. Switching from lips to teeth, he gently nibbled, sometimes lightly, sometimes more forcefully. When he saw tears in Liu Yu’s eyes, he stopped, hugging her close to calm her down.

Liu Yu nearly lost her mind from Lu Chengxiao’s teasing and felt a burning sensation deep inside. She buried her face in his chest, feeling both discomfort and grievance. She mimicked him, lightly biting his neck.

Lu Chengxiao couldn’t take it anymore. He turned over and pinned her down, kissing her fiercely before panting by her ear, “Be good, stop moving.”

Liu Yu never thought she would find herself in such a situation. She lightly bit his shoulder again, her voice low, “Weren’t you the one who started this?”

Lu Chengxiao chuckled, pressing her head against his shoulder, whispering, “Then bite a few more times to vent your anger.”

If not for sensing his erratic breathing and feeling his body on the verge of collapse, Liu Yu might have given him a few more bites. But now she dared not, remembering the pain from last night. She obediently extricated herself from his embrace, putting some distance between them.

Lu Chengxiao, feeling empty without her in his arms, laughed at her, “Why are you staying so far away?”

“I’m afraid you’ll lack self-control.”

Liu Yu laughed and scooted further to the other side of the bed.

Lu Chengxiao reached out, pulling her and the quilt back into his arms, making Liu Yu yelp.

Lu Chengxiao shushed her gently, hugging her contentedly, “I won’t touch you, sleep for a while. I’ll wake you before lunch.”

This time, Lu Chengxiao kept his word, holding her through the quilt, occasionally patting her back.

Liu Yu, exhausted from the previous night’s ordeal, had barely slept. The gentle pats through the quilt gradually soothed her to sleep, the flames he had ignited finally dying down, allowing her to sleep soundly.

Lu Chengxiao, however, was not so lucky. Holding his beloved so close, he struggled to calm down. Once she was deeply asleep, he finally managed to compose himself.

With Liu Yu sleeping in his arms, Lu Chengxiao dared not move a muscle. One hand served as her pillow while the other played with a strand of her hair, wrapping it around his finger, his gaze fixated on her lips, which he had kissed so passionately, unable to look away.

Liu Yu dreamed of being kissed by Lu Chengxiao until she could hardly breathe, only then did he let her go.

She slept for a long time, until just before midday, when the sound of approaching footsteps from outside woke her. Yu Ge’er called out in his childish voice from the door, “Grandma told me to call you and Third Aunt for lunch.”

The child’s loud voice woke Liu Yu. She opened her eyes sleepily, her drowsy appearance making Lu Chengxiao’s throat tighten. His gaze lingered on her lips, which had finally lost their swollen redness. Knowing they had to go out and Liu Yu was shy, he restrained himself, gently kissing her cheek, and said with a smile, “Time to get up.”

He responded to Yu Ge’er outside, saying they knew and then got up to help Liu Yu with her clothes.

Liu Yu was now fully awake. She was startled to hear that a child had been sent to call them for lunch, “How did we sleep so late?”

She took the clothes Lu Chengxiao handed her and turned her back to dress.

Lu Chengxiao sat beside her, watching as her snowy back was revealed when she turned. Liu Yu, unaware, quickly dressed, then got out of bed to put on her shoes, went to the side room to wash her face, redo her hair, and checked the mirror to ensure there were no marks on her neck before feeling relieved.

As Liu Yu walked around the room, Lu Chengxiao’s gaze followed her. Seeing her movements were no longer stiff as in the morning, his brow furrowed, his eyes darkening slightly.

Sansukini’s P.S: I was wondering why the title is “Nephrite.” I wasn’t sure they talked about any jades in this chapter. Upon research (lol), I found that nephrite was derived from the word “nephros,” which means kidney. And if you read a lot of cnovels like me, the men’s kidney is responsible for their s3xual functions and vitality. And so, this chapter is about the snusnu. (Hahaha. I was just trying to connect the dots. Correct me if I’m wrong.)
