Chapter 1377: Banquet
Chapter 1377: Banquet
The Thilku didn’t have proper clothes for people of Khan and Liiza’s sizes. Still, Lord Enforcer had worked his magic once already with Khan, and he seemed to have taken the liberty to guess Liiza’s measurements, too, at that time.
The guess had ended up being quite accurate, which meant that Lord Envoy had shared his inspection of Liiza with his fellow Royal Guard. Nevertheless, the result was very easy on the eyes, making Khan forget any eventual gripes.
The dark-red clothes for Liiza had turned out to be a skirt that almost reached her knees and a simple shirt. The latter vaguely resembled the Thilku’s military uniforms. Still, Lord Enforcer seemed to have gone out of his way to make it more feminine and appropriate for Liiza’s different but illustrious status.
The Thilku wouldn’t usually waste time or effort in matters of fashion, so that relatively stylish attire had to be due to Khan. It was a show of respect toward his accomplishment, vouching for his relevance inside the Empire.
That, or Lord Enforcer had a thing for alien women’s clothes.
Meanwhile, Khan found himself in one of his past attires. He donned a Thilku military uniform, leaving its upper part open. A thick red cape also hung from his shoulders, and a silver crown stood on his head, keeping his long hair down and still.
Khan had previously added a sleeveless twist to that look. That had mostly been due to his destructive element, but he had ended up growing fond of that style.
However, it didn’t feel right to ruin those new clothes right away, especially since Liiza seemed to share Khan’s opinion of her. Just like he found her clothes quite captivating, she also couldn’t hide the intense interest behind her respective inspection.
"[You have already seen me in a skirt]," Liiza pointed out, partially annoyed since she knew why Khan was weak to that attire. Still, another side of her was pleased by that captivated look.
"[I haven’t seen you in this skirt]," Khan commented, dwelling in that quite lecherous inspection. The Thilku’s colors didn’t suit Liiza due to her dark-blue skin, but Khan hardly cared about the shades’ pairing when her legs were in the open.
Liiza wanted to pretend to be jealous a bit longer, but a chuckle escaped her mouth at that comment. Her husband could truly be an idiot at times, but he had earned some leeway that day.
Besides, Liiza couldn’t find the strength to pretend against that imposing, royal attire. As much as she didn’t care for Khan’s status, he did look good with a crown on his head, and her favorite blanket was even hanging from his shoulders now.
Liiza found herself walking forward instead of scolding Khan, stopping before him to run her cold fingers over his perfect abs. That almost was too much for Khan, and what followed didn’t help.
"[I still prefer the Niqols’ robes]," Liiza pouted. "[But you can keep the crown while I take the cape]."
"[Did you marry me just to get your hands on the Thilku capes]?" Khan gasped.
"[Yes]," Liiza childishly nodded, giggling at Khan’s brief surprise. Her husband was truly too cute, and she would love to jump on him, especially on that special occasion, but the married couple had to focus on different priorities.
"[Can you contact Coravis from here]?" Liiza asked, leaving a quick kiss on Khan’s lips to disperse his surprise before taking his right hand. "[And is here Zedekiel]?"
"[It’s Zedekiel]," Khan said, shaking his head, before looking into the distance. "[I would have already called otherwise]."
Usually, Lord Envoy was in charge of transportation. Still, the Royal Guard had only teleported clean clothes and the invitation to the banquet earlier, without reappearing to repeat the process for the married couple.
Khan didn’t forget how Lord Envoy didn’t teleport the Emperor back then. That was probably due to a lack of energy. The Emperor was too grand a being to be affected by that ability without causing repercussions, if he could be affected at all.
In the same way, Khan now was far greater than he had been in the past. He didn’t need scanners and special tests to know that his attunement wasn’t complete, but the process was almost done, and his existence had also expanded in the meantime.
Chances were Lord Envoy had realized he couldn’t teleport Khan during his first inspection, but another Royal Guard had stepped up, leaving a trail the married couple could follow.
An invisible but unmistakable path stretched from Khan and Liiza’s position, reaching far in the distance. One broad, specific gale moved in a precise direction, seemingly wanting to lead the married couple toward the appointed location for the banquet.
Khan could smell Lord Enforcer’s rules in that specific gale, so he followed it, with Liiza walking at his side, matching his relatively hurried pace.
Despite being in the most secretive and important location of one of the most fearsome forces in the universe, Khan and Liiza could only think about their daughter. They had been almost two months without her already and hadn’t heard from her in three weeks. That was far more than they could bear, but they were powerless to solve it.
Of course, Zedekiel had communication devices. The problem was getting to them since a Thilku’s Feast stood between the married couple and that goal, and those traditional events couldn’t be underestimated, especially if the Emperor decided to join them.
Confirming that last point was relatively easy and immediate. After walking for a while and crossing a short hill, Khan and Liiza found themselves before a vast, flat arena with four pillars at its corners, similar to where he had fought Lord Mighty.
Khan even spotted the four Royal Guards. Except, they stood on one end of the arena, doing their best to make themselves small since every other inch of that resilient red floor had bowls of food and bottles on it.
Somehow, the Royal Guards had filled an immense arena made to host battles between evolved warriors with food, and most of it was probably meant for the main guest.
That insane amount of food confirmed that the Emperor would attend the event, and Khan and Liiza didn’t need to wait long for the final clue to arrive. The couple was still on the short hill when tremors started to run through the area, accompanied by the second-heaviest aura Liiza had ever sensed.
