Chaos' Heir

Chapter 1463: Summary

Chapter 1463: Summary

The strange announcement inevitably brought a series of confused and curious gazes on Khan. Even the evolved Fuveall’s silver skull-like face tried and mostly failed to wear a surprised expression, which the vibe contained in his golden eyes had to compensate for.

The Thilku had met Khan right after the mess on the Nak’s home world, but they were also unaware of the specifics of what had unfolded there. Needless to say, except for the Emperor and Lord Enforcer, the three Royal Guards focused on Khan, with Lord Mighty checking his abdomen for some reason.

Only Liiza continued playing with Yeza. Still, Khan’s vague and stupid statement did make her chuckle. It was factually correct, but her husband could have opted for better words.

Of course, Khan wouldn’t have been Liiza’s husband if he did, but better explanations were in order.

Khan scratched his head before that general attention, sorting his thoughts so that his following statement could be short but comprehensive. He had already revealed his mission’s nature and the Nak’s purpose, but things had turned out to be more complicated than that.

"I told you all how the Nak wanted to create an heir that could surpass the mana," Khan reminded. "Their suicidal attacks were their second attempt at that. The True Chaos was the first."

That piece of information wasn’t exactly meaningful toward the war, but Khan felt the need to voice it to set the foundation for his following statements.

"The mana wanted to evolve," Khan continued. "It both succeeded and failed with the True Chaos. That creation was indeed stronger, but was also an enemy they couldn’t defeat."

Many of the species at the table didn’t have a profound and mystical view of the mana, but listened to Khan anyway. He lacked factual proof that they could study or that could corroborate his claims, but everyone was past doubting him at that point.

"So, the Nak changed their approach and tried again," Khan explained. "They streamlined the process, limiting it to a certain extent to avoid creating a second enemy. I’m the culmination of that second attempt."

The general interest intensified, but the same went for the confusion. Everyone at the table knew Khan was strong, but he didn’t seem to have reached the heights the Nak had planned for him.

"But, well," Khan continued. "The Nak wanted me to fuse with the mana’s heart and evolve that energy as a whole, transforming myself into something I wouldn’t have liked. So, I refused them and stole all those preparations and energy for myself."

The representatives at the table couldn’t fully grasp the vastness of what Khan was talking about. Still, they never doubted the greatness of his achievement. After all, the Nak were too infamous to be anything but strong.

"That would have lifted me to their version of godhood," Khan summarized, "Giving the regulated universe a better chance of fending off the Scarlet Eyes. I didn’t like those terms, so now we are stuck with what we have, with no possibility of repeating the process."

Of course, the species at the table had never known or considered the possibility of letting the Nak run amok again. The greater good of the regulated universe was still a vague concept in their minds, but Khan seemed to want to make that point clear.

"In short," Khan concluded, "Either we win, or the universe as we know it is doomed. We won’t get another chance."

Khan’s choice of words couldn’t matter there. He had just shed light on one of the greatest mysteries in the universe. Despite never knowing about the possibility of additional chances, the representatives remained silent, taking their time to absorb those breathtaking pieces of information.

That obviously didn’t apply to the Thilku Emperor.

"Lord Blue Shaman," The Emperor called, sending tremors in every direction. "What were those terms you disliked?"

"Oh, that," Khan exclaimed, pointing his thumb at the figure to his right. "Most of that was about not enjoying getting laid anymore. Did you even see my wife? I’m not giving up on that."

Everyone on the other side of the table blinked. Beings that couldn’t be farther away from mortals were discussing the very fate of the regulated universe. Still, there Khan was, willing to put everything at stake to continue enjoying his intimacy with his wife.

The general perplexity inevitably fell on Liiza, only for her to finally raise her head, showing a cold but proud expression despite the faint blush spreading through her cheeks.

Luckily, something far more compelling followed, even if for the wrong reasons. All the drinks and bottles on the table suddenly disappeared as the Emperor opened his mouth to release his destructive voice.

"[Ah]!" The Emperor cried, blowing the distant encirclement of dunes away, making the desert open even further. "[Ah! Ah! Ah]!"

That unique laughter forced the representatives to summon their mana to defend themselves against the spreading soundwaves and shockwaves. The sand under their feet parted, blown away, making them fall deeper into the desert.

Still, once everything stabilized, the drinks and bottles returned. The table was obviously gone, crushed into dust, but no one complained about having that meeting directly on the sand.

Actually, Dean Ulluw seized that chance to grab a bottle for himself and start drinking. It was clear those brittle things were at risk of breaking whenever the Emperor did anything, and he didn’t want to risk leaving his throat dry throughout the meeting.

The Emperor’s laugh spread through the Royal Court. Except for Lord Enforcer, the Royal Guards grinned, showing their canines, with Lord Mighty even stretching his huge arm over Liiza to slam his hand on Khan’s head.

"You make a truly fine Lord, Blue!" Lord Mighty cried, patting Khan’s head with enough strength to push him deeper into the sand.

"There was another thing, too," Khan admitted, unfazed by the deadly attacks slamming on his head and his gradually more buried figure. "The Nak cursed me for twenty-three years. Their mana and existence were mine by right. I’ll do whatever I like with those."

Khan’s cross-legged figure rose on its own at that point, hovering over the new hole to return to the same level as everyone else.

"And if someone wants to get back at me for what I chose," Khan continued. "I’ll eat them, too."
