Chaos' Heir

Chapter 1506: Reinforcements

Chapter 1506: Reinforcements

The Global Army had become quite proficient at checking the attunement with mana, but that only applied to humans and mortals.

If anything, the attunement with mana was a human construct that only served unevolved warriors. That stat became useless after reaching one hundred points, and science had yet to learn how to classify beings standing past it.

Khan was a special case, which worked both against and to his benefit. His attunement was incomplete, so that stat could still work to evaluate his power and track other features. However, his uniqueness also made it unreliable.

Garret had adjusted scanners and developed innovative procedures that could track Khan’s attunement despite his very inhuman status.

Nevertheless, Khan was now asking something as precise as ninety-nine point nine-nine percent, and his request didn’t stop there. His scientists finally connected the dots, understanding that he wanted to train until he reached that exact number.

That was nothing short of unheard of, especially in Khan’s condition. Honestly, for all intents and purposes, it was impossible. No scanner could ever be that accurate when adding the mana and Khan to the equation.

Raymond was about to say something, only for his fellow lead scientists’ reaction to stop him. He was sure his peers would agree with him, and they seemed to, but he only saw helplessness behind their stern faces.

Sadly for Garret and Abraham, that wasn’t the first impossible task Khan had put them in charge of. The entirety of Baoway was built upon scientific aspects that humankind had never explored or had given up on. It was one of the reasons why they were so overworked, but that wouldn’t suffice as an excuse.

After all, Khan’s various projects were mostly experiments designed to increase his organization’s political relevance, which it had long since achieved. Immediate results weren’t strictly necessary, but that wouldn’t apply to the next order of business.

Giving Khan a proper fighting chance against the True Chaos was mandatory. The universe itself required it and didn’t care for actual feasibility. Even if it wasn’t possible, the scientists had to make it so.

So, Garret’s following words left Raymond speechless. The former didn’t even try to argue with Khan. He implied his agreement by moving to the next order of business.

“I’ll have to retrieve some equipment from Baoway, my Prince,” Garret exclaimed. “I’ll tell the troops to set up a secret lab right away.”

“You do that,” Khan nodded, his hair moving up and down due to his gesture, attracting Yeza’s attention. “Oh, of course, I’ll leave the math to you, as well as the issue of finding something suitable to absorb.”

Garret had to suppress a rising headache. After spending quite some time with Khan on Coravis, he knew exactly what his training sessions implied, and his new project didn’t bode well for any place, or planet, that would host them.

Actually, Garret had already made projections and simulations, and the outcome was bound to be catastrophic even in the best-case scenario. What Khan needed wasn’t a training ground but a world to devour.

“I’m afraid we’ll have to ask for the help of our Thilku allies for that, my Prince,” Garret revealed. “Your force and our other allies don’t have the assets you require. At least, they aren’t disposable.”

“I figured as much,” Khan agreed, tilting his head in Yeza’s direction since she had started to pull his hair, seemingly wanting to climb it. “Speak with the Empire and contact me if there are problems.”

“It will be done, my Prince,” Garret stated.

“I’ll start working on the math, my Prince,” Abraham added, exchanging a nod with Garret.

Raymond looked confused, his eyes darting between his fellow lead scientists, only for them to depart and force him to follow them. Obviously, they all performed polite salutes first.

Meanwhile, Khan remained in the flat, helping Yeza climb his hair. His silver crown almost fell off as she reached the top of his head, but Liiza made sure to keep it still.

“Ba-ba!” Yeza cried once she managed to crawl on Khan’s head, making for a scene that put a warm smile on Liiza’s face. She had every intention of joining that family time, too, but a sudden event claimed her attention.

Liiza wasn’t alone in that. Khan also sensed something, distracting him from his daughter’s grand achievement. Auras powerful enough to be perceived from inside the building had entered the quadrant’s range, putting the married couple in a serious mood.

Khan and Liiza didn’t waste time exchanging words and headed for the flat’s elevator, leaving the building and setting off in a hurry. That group of powerful auras had stopped outside the occupied area and the party’s remains, seemingly waiting for the two to arrive.

Few things could have surprised Khan at that point in his life. He had truly seen it all, experiencing so many unbelievable things that he firmly believed nothing could leave him speechless anymore.

However, the scene that expanded in Khan’s vision managed to come close to that, or rather, the strange group that had gathered on the white sand left him at a loss for words.

Ten, mostly elderly, humans stood on the sand, either wearing ragged military uniforms or casual clothes that seemed to have seen their fair share of catastrophes.

Of course, that wouldn’t have been enough to surprise Khan. Except that the ten humans weren’t ordinary mortals. They were all evolved warriors, and Khan even recognized one of them.

“Bruno,” Khan called, looking at the greasy-haired, middle-aged man standing in the back of the group. “What is this?”

“Prince Khan, this won’t do,” Bruno calmly exclaimed, materializing in front of the group and moving his hair away to look at the couple still in the sky. “We had just agreed on using codenames to limit our exposure.”

Khan arched an eyebrow in confusion, not understanding what that could mean. He also suppressed the urge to look around since Yeza was still on his head. Part of him half-expected his family’s troops to be there to stage a coup, but the truth turned out to be very different.

“It was to defy death, wasn’t it?” Bruno chuckled. “That was a good speech, good enough to move the noble families to send reinforcements.”
