Chapter 1513: Snack
Chapter 1513: Snack
The Emperor’s interest didn’t wane at Khan’s vague answer, but the time for words was over. Khan’s cells came alive, lifting him in the air, and a mere tremor from one of his feet made him disappear.
Khan’s speed was nothing short of otherworldly, but the Emperor could easily follow him with his eyes. He could even chase after him, but that wasn’t a race, and he didn’t want to destroy the already ravaged planet more than necessary.
The Emperor only moved when he sensed Khan reaching the edge of Lekegawa’s atmosphere, wasting his efforts at salvaging what was left of that destroyed quadrant. He bent his thick legs, amassing strength, before springing upward, inflicting untold damage to the sea of debris and ground underneath.
A deafening roar ran through the sky while Khan stared at the small celestial body past Lekegawa’s atmosphere. The thin air around him parted, suddenly condensing into violent gales that blew everywhere, having the newcomer as their source.
The Emperor had only needed one jump to go from the planet’s surface to the sky’s highest point. Actually, his leap had enough strength to send him directly into orbit, but he had spread his arms at the last second, stopping himself next to Khan and generating that storm.
At that point, gravity should have pulled the Emperor back to the ground. He didn’t even do anything to stop that force, but his figure remained in the air, hovering without requiring any technique.
Of course, there was a technique involved, or something one step before that. People didn’t have wings, and even then, they would have to flap them to remain in the air, but the Emperor didn’t do anything of the sort.
Instead, the Emperor simply willed his vast existence to oppose the planet’s pull. He was leagues above what mere gravity could affect, so he just needed to desire it for his body not to fall prey to that force.
Khan glanced at that performance while the violent winds blew over him, but didn’t really comment on it. A similar curiosity about the Emperor’s abilities existed in his brain, but he had to focus on something else now.
Clearly, the Emperor wanted first-row seats to Khan’s training session, which he didn’t oppose. Khan stepped out of the planet’s atmosphere without saying a word, mana immediately escaping his feet to propel him toward the celestial body above.
Lekegawa’s moon wasn’t much different from Earth’s, at least the one right above Khan. It was grey, full of craters, and relatively small. It was also rather close, so Khan reached it in no time.
The small size of the moon made its atmosphere non-existent, but that was hardly a problem for Khan. His body had no problem surviving in the dark expanse, at least for a while, which was enough for him to do what he had teleported there to do.
Khan stopped right after entering the moon’s non-existent atmosphere, crossing his legs to sit in that dark sky, hovering in complete stillness while shutting his eyes.
While Khan remained still, his perception expanded, blending with the moon’s almost non-existent symphony, tainting it to stretch itself past its natural limits.
A different iteration of the Great Old One’s incredible technique unfolded at that very moment. Faint traces of purple-red shades appeared in the air and ground as Khan’s senses continued to spread, gradually covering the entirety of the moon before diving deeper into it.
Khan couldn’t reach the same levels as the Great Old One. He lacked the mental capacity and natural inclinations to achieve the same feat on such a widespread scale.
However, a small moon was manageable, especially when Khan cut away most of the superfluous details from his perception. He didn’t need to study that area. He only needed to call upon its innate desire to crumble into pieces.
Suddenly, earthquakes began to spread throughout the moon, affecting as deeply as its very core. Craters also shattered as vast fissures opened all around the celestial body, seemingly ready to split it into a rain of asteroids.
Meanwhile, brighter mana escaped from Khan’s chest, condensing in the shape of a stylized reptilian head. A scaled body even formed from its base, separating Khan and the technique, steadily putting more distance between the two.
Khan hadn’t really trained since his experience on the Nak’s home world. Theoretically, his abilities should have remained the same, but that wasn’t the case.
The crumbs of knowledge Khan had inherited were still affecting his power, changing and developing it as he accustomed himself to that superior status and awareness.
Moreover, Khan had told the Emperor the truth. His mana was alive. His element could decide things on its own, steering his techniques in a different direction.
What should have been an array of ethereal, bright, and stylized snakes instead remained limited to a single reptilian head. Its scaled body remained, but only as a connection between the technique and Khan as the former rose above him.
The reptilian head stopped right above Khan’s figure and turned, pointing its sharp fangs at the crumbling moon below. A suction force also appeared, pulling the dust released by the widespread destruction toward the spell.
The dust shattered even further, releasing energy that the spell immediately absorbed. Yet, more mana escaped Khan’s figure while that fuel entered his body, forcing the reptilian head to expand until it reached monstrous proportions.
The Emperor’s decision to fly closer to the scene paid off at that point. Eyesight had limits, even when it came to someone as monstrous as the Thilku Emperor, but the scene was big enough to be perfectly visible in all of its terrifying might.
Because the snake’s head didn’t merely expand. Instead, it grew until it replaced a fraction of the moon’s sky, shining above it while the entire celestial body fell apart and was caught by its pulling force.
Therefore, the Emperor clearly saw how the moon split into a rain of massive boulders that defied gravity and rose toward the massive reptilian head, as if a true ancient horror had appeared to turn that celestial body into a snack.
