Chapter 1190: Chapter 792: Entry Assessment (Part 2)

Yang Zhenshan stood in the distance, watching Yang Qinting and the other three in line, then turned his gaze to the young boys and girls who had already begun their detection.

The three Arrays were not large; they were only Detection Arrays.

A young boy was undergoing detection, and as he passed through the first Array, nothing happened. The two stewards didn’t say anything, merely pointed backwards, indicating him to move on.

The boy then entered the second Array, which emitted a hazy, milky white glow.

“Average root bone, eliminated!” one steward immediately shouted.

The boy was taken aback, seemingly not expecting to be disqualified so quickly.

Before he could react, a steward beside him pulled him out of the Array, signaling for him to leave.

Then, the boys and girls behind him entered the Arrays one after another for detection.

“Above-average root bone, next!”

“Average spirituality, eliminated!”

“Average root bone, eliminated!”

“Above-average root bone, next!”

“Above-average spirituality, eligible to be an Outer Sect Disciple!”

One by one, the youths walked through the three Arrays, as the stewards took turns announcing their qualifications.

Yang Zhenshan observed for a while, realizing that the Xuanqing Sect only accepted disciples with both above-average root bone and spirituality.

“The requirements are so high? I wonder if Qinting can pass!”

Previously, Yang Zhenshan was quite confident in Yang Qinting, but now he suddenly felt Yang Qinting might not necessarily enter the Xuanqing Sect.

He believed that Yang Qinting’s root bone and spirituality shouldn’t be bad, but that was just his opinion; he didn’t know the Xuanqing Sect’s detection standards.

Yang Zhenshan looked at the long line again; there were about two thousand people here for detection. Judging by those already detected, the odds were roughly one in twenty.

That meant about a hundred people would be able to join the Xuanqing Sect.

This number was neither too high nor too low.

The detection process was rapid; the youths only needed to walk through the Arrays, and the stewards continuously urged them on. Within two hours, over a hundred had completed their detections.

“Granduncle, do Yanze and the others have a chance?” Yang Xiangheng asked nervously.

Yang Zhenshan glanced at the four youths’ location; they had come relatively early and, at this speed, it would be their turn in about an hour.

“Wait and see, even if they don’t join the Xuanqing Sect, it’s no big deal!” Yang Zhenshan replied.

He wasn’t entirely confident in Yang Qinting, let alone Yang Yanze and the other two.

Yang Yanze and the others might meet the root bone requirement, but their spirituality would likely fall short.

In recent years, the resources for the Lingxi Yang family had increased considerably, with more spent on the younger generation than before. However, compared to those children of prestigious families who soaked in medicinal baths from a young age, Yanze and his peers were lacking.

“Sigh, I know the chances are slim! It’s just a bit disheartening!” Yang Xiangheng said in a low tone.

Yang Xiangheng had his own concerns; currently, the Yang family relied entirely on Yang Zhenshan alone. While his brothers had made significant advancements in cultivation over the years, it was clear to them that reaching the Heavenly Gang Stage was unlikely with their qualifications.

So he placed his hopes on the succeeding generation, wishing that one among them could reach the Heavenly Gang Stage to ensure the continuity of the Lingxi Yang family.

“Heh, I know what you’re worried about. Rest assured, even if they don’t join the Xuanqing Sect, they can still reach the Heavenly Gang Stage!” Yang Zhenshan laughed.

How could Yang Zhenshan not understand Yang Xiangheng’s feelings?

Previously, Yang Xiangheng regarded Yang Zhenshan as his greatest support. But upon discovering Yang Zhenshan had many descendants, he felt he’d lost that reliance.

This was only natural.

If Yang Zhenshan had no offspring, he might consider the younger generation of the Lingxi Yang family as his own.

But since Yang Zhenshan did have descendants, to him, the Lingxi Yang family could only be viewed as outsiders.

This didn’t mean Yang Xiangheng harbored any discontent towards Yang Zhenshan; he just no longer placed all his hopes on Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan bore no grudge for this.

“With Granduncle’s words, I’m much more at ease!” Yang Xiangheng’s expression eased a bit from his earlier low spirits.

Time ticked away as the onlookers experienced a mix of joy and disappointment, with some laughing freely and others swearing in anger.

Soon, it was Yang Qinting’s turn.

The young lad exhibited no nervousness, even waving to Yang Zhenshan with a self-assured smile before starting his detection.

Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard and nodded slightly, watching as he entered the first Array.

The first Array displayed no reactions, but the second emitted a bright radiance.

“Superior root bone, eligible to be an Outer Sect Disciple!”

The stewards, having become numb to the process, looked at Yang Qinting with a friendly smile.

“Good, proceed to the next detection!”

In the distance, Yang Zhenshan raised an eyebrow; was there a level even above superior?

Was a superior root bone sufficient to immediately become an Outer Sect Disciple without further testing of spirituality?

Indeed, spirituality could be cultivated postnatally. Though starting now was a bit late, it wasn’t entirely irremediable.

This was why the Xuanqing Sect prioritized the root bone detection.

“Superior spirituality! What’s your name?”

Yang Qinting passed the spirituality test as well, prompting the steward beside him to ask warmly.

“Sir, my name is Yang Qinting, hailing from the Lingxi Yang family of Nanxia County, Ancient County!” Yang Qinting replied with a respectful bow.

“Very well, head over there to wait. Soon, a senior brother will grant you your entry Token,” the steward said kindly.

“Thank you, Sir!” Yang Qinting bowed again, leaving the steward nodding in satisfaction.

Yang Qinting exited the detection Arrays, beaming at Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan gave him a thumbs up, eyes full of approval.

Next came Yan Zhe after Yang Qinting.

As expected, all three were disqualified.

However, they weren’t of poor qualification; Yan Zhe had an above-average root bone and average spirituality, while Yang Yanping and Yang Yanbo had average root bones. They weren’t prodigies, but they were of decent quality.

After all, geniuses weren’t so common in the world.

Yang Qinting was a genius, though his talents were nurtured postnatally.

Yang Zhenshan figured Yang Qinting’s superior root bone resulted from the Spiritual Spring Water.

The three returned crestfallen, casting ashamed glances at Yang Xiangheng.

“Father, we’re sorry; our talents are too lacking!” Yan Zhe said, slightly teary-eyed.

Yang Xiangheng had mentally prepared himself, yet his face still couldn’t hide the disappointment.

Seeing this, Yang Zhenshan shook his head; how could a father not comfort his children?

The incident shouldn’t strip the children of their confidence, or it might impede their future cultivation path.

Before Yang Xiangheng could speak, Yang Zhenshan patted Yan Zhe on the shoulder.

“Who says your qualifications are poor? Haha~ You all have decent qualifications!”

“And what if your qualifications were poor? With hard work, you can still become Martial Artists of the Heavenly Gang Stage!”

Yang Zhenshan said with hearty laughter.

“Ancestor!”

On hearing his words, Yan Zhe and the other two shed some of their disappointment.

“Ancestor, can we really become Martial Artists of the Heavenly Gang Stage?” Yang Yanping asked.

“Of course, don’t you trust your Ancestor?” Yang Zhenshan laughed.

If he promised them they’d become Martial Gods, Yang Zhenshan lacked the confidence.

But to achieve the Heavenly Gang Stage, Yang Zhenshan could absolutely guarantee it.

“We trust Ancestor!” Yan Zhe nodded solemnly.

“Yes, we also trust Ancestor!” Yang Yanping and Yang Yanbo echoed, no longer despondent.

Yang Zhenshan looked approvingly at the three children.

They were all quite capable, with distinct personalities but good natures.

Yang Zhenshan was willing to provide them with resources to help them reach higher levels.

“Arrogant boast!”

As they conversed, a well-dressed middle-aged man beside them scoffed.

Yang Zhenshan frowned slightly, turning towards the voice.
