Chapter 1113: Layers Of Space-4 [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, he couldn’t believe he had actually succeeded. It felt surreal, it felt maddening, after all, it was one thing to conceive an idea, and it was another to birth it into reality. His purple eyes shone as he took in everything before him, the streaks of light, the corridor itself. It felt as though he could hear some sort of hum at this moment.
In just fourteen hours, he had achieved his intended result. It had been dangerous, he had lost limbs and body parts, but due to his intense concentration, that made it appear as though he was in the zone, and his insane talent, he had succeeded.
He finally heaved a mental sigh as a smile appeared on his lips as he finally enjoyed the fruit of his labor. After staring for a moment, he looked at both ends of the tunnel. If he moved forward, he would appear at his destination, if he moved backwards, he would appear at his previous location.
But he did neither of that, it wasn’t every day someone got to see the tunnel of space itself, so he willed himself to float towards the walls of the spatial tunnel.
His hands stretched out as his fingers touched, the moment he touched it, Asher felt the light pulse through his body as it flooded his mind for a moment, then vanished. The spatial tunnel was solid, he didn’t suddenly fall into another dimension or anything of the sort. But with the light that coursed through his body and mind, he seemed to instinctively understand that if he willed it, his hand would cross through the tunnel walls as though they were an illusion.
’It’s just like the movies,’ Asher thought to himself as he couldn’t help but wonder how Earth could have perfect images of spatial tunnels. Yes, they were movies, but for them to be so accurate was kind of a bit mind-boggling.
After a moment of looking around, he stretched out his hands again, but this time he willed himself to cross into whatever lay outside the tunnel. The tunnel walls seemed to ripple like the surface of a lake as it swallowed him whole. The moment he vanished, all he saw was total darkness, he didn’t know his left, he didn’t know his right, he didn’t know up nor down. The only thing he was sure of was his own existence.
As he existed within this darkness for an unknown amount of time, his body seemed to slam into something like a barrier, and the moment he slammed into it, light flooded his vision as he was now suddenly standing upright.
Asher looked around, he was now back at the Valley of Distortion.
’It seems I failed to cross to the second layer of space,’ he sighed at his failure, then kicked a stone on the ground near him out of mild frustration.
But the moment his toes met the pebble, they phased through it as though the pebble was an illusion. Seeing this, Asher froze for a moment in shock.
’Don’t tell me... I actually succeeded?’ he thought to himself.
The moment the thought echoed in his mind, he burst out laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! FINALLY, AFTER HOURS OF TRIAL AND ERROR!" he roared at the top of his lungs, unbothered by how he looked as he clenched his fist and punched the air in pure happiness.
How couldn’t he be happy? He had just carried out a crazy idea without dying. He was the happiest man in the world right now.
’This also confirms my theory that there are grades to the Void, and the deeper one dives into the layers of space, the harsher and more destructive the Void becomes.’ A grin appeared across his face as he was simply too ecstatic.
He remembered appearing somewhere dark, he saw nothing there, he heard nothing, he felt nothing, literally nothing. What was that if not the Void?
Asher turned towards the boulder where he had been teleporting for the past fourteen hours, he clenched his fist and punched outwards, but his fist simply phased through it as though either he or the boulder was an illusion.
’If there was someone in Crymora with something like this as their innate ability, they could be the greatest assassin, or the greatest information broker. In fact, they could be both,’ he thought to himself as no one could sense him in this state.
Even if he wanted to kill someone and left this second layer at the last possible moment, only those with insane reaction time and extraordinary senses or abilities should be able to survive.
He began to walk around the Valley of Distortion without any more caution. He stopped his habit of manually controlling space as the second layer of space was a stabilized area.
’I need to carry out some tests,’ he thought to himself.
For example, could he teleport while in the second layer of space? Could he open a portal from point A to point B? Of course, he wasn’t talking about teleporting from the second layer of reality to the outer layer of reality, he understood that was impossible... at the moment at least, until he possessed enough control to manipulate the space of the second layer. After all, as the Void between each layer got stronger, naturally the layer of space followed.
Asher willed himself to teleport to the tree where he first learned how to walk, but nothing. He guessed that maybe the distance was too far, so he tried teleporting just a meter away, but he felt spatial resistance.
He sighed, disappointedly, but not discouraged as he continued his test. He moved straight to the portal, he tried opening one, but he failed, he already guessed it would, since teleportation, which was easier than opening a portal, had failed.
But, anyway, he had succeeded, as for now, he would slowly build his proficiency, after all, just because he succeeded once didn’t mean he had perfected it.
But now, he needed to head outside, take a deep breath, then go through everything he had understood today in respect to space, then continue after. With that plan in mind, he activated the Mark on the dagger, his figure instantly vanishing from the second layer of space and the Valley of Distortion as a whole.
