Chapter 1256: Mechanical Man

Chapter 1256: Mechanical Man

As he was about to move, Omni Perception picked up a fast projectile tearing forward from behind at a speed even greater than that of the Light Woman from earlier.

He didn’t hesitate. His body moved on pure instinct and reflex as he leaned to the side and out of the way. As the incoming high-speed projectile tore past his face, Asher’s perception slowed time for him, allowing him to see what the projectile was as his eyes tracked its movement.

And what Asher saw left him stunned.

A bullet.

His Thoughts Acceleration skill activated to its highest level of activity as he struggled to believe what he had just seen. It had to be understood that he had been in this world for almost three years now, and throughout that entire time, he had never seen a single gun or even heard of gunpowder, let alone a bullet.

Yet, an enemy from the Velkarin Empire had fired one.

Before he could even turn around to face his enemy, Omni Perception flickered through his thoughts as more bullets closed the distance with ease.

Ratatatatatatata!!!!! Ratatatatatatata!!!!

Asher moved, his hand swinging upwards as he met each bullet with his rapier, his body and hand dancing from one direction to the other as he deflected them, his body a yellow blur.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Within a couple of seconds, the high-speed, heavy-piercing bullets stopped, and the various buildings Asher had deflected the attacks towards were torn apart, showcasing the raw power behind each bullet.

The moment he stopped, his eyes snapped towards the direction of the attack. The attacker was beyond a two-kilometre radius, yet the attack was already coming.

The sound barrier tore apart as, within seconds, the enemy came into view. With a booming force, the attacker landed on a bungalow, tearing through it as his feet met the ground.

Stepping through the cloud of smoke and dust, the gun user came into full view.

Asher didn’t even know how to describe what he was seeing. The enemy before him seemed to have stepped out of a high-level sci-fi movie or anime.

The man was covered in a full metallic bodysuit that looked like a combination of the Iron Man suit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the suit worn by Kryptonians in the Superman DC movie.

Asher wouldn’t lie; the sight broke his concentration a little as he admired what he was seeing. After all, there was no man out there who didn’t love a mechanical suit. Everyone had fantasised about one at least once. But seeing someone use one here was surprising.

’Did he get it from a lab in the Thalvorn Empire?’

Asher thought to himself but discarded that thought. If such a thing were possible, he would have seen more of them in the Thalvorn Empire, as they would undoubtedly have shown it off.

As Asher was lost in thought, the red-and-black-armoured soldier appeared before him in a blur, his fist shooting towards Asher’s chest as he moved to rip out his heart.

Asher snapped out of his thoughts. He had to hand it to this guy. He hadn’t attacked until Asher had become lost in his thoughts, choosing that exact instant to make his move. But Asher wasn’t one to become so lost in his thoughts that he forgot about his enemies.

He raised his rapier as he unleashed an upward swing from below, meeting the fist head-on. With a titanic collision, their fists clashed, blasting a shockwave that covered everything within a two-hundred-kilometre radius. The impact slammed into other soldiers, tearing them apart like they were no different from sheets of paper.

The building Asher stood on shattered under the impact, sending both of them plummeting to the ground. The moment their feet touched the ground, both men vanished, one a blur of yellow, the other a streak of red and black.

Asher unleashed a thousand thrusting attacks within a split second, each aimed at the bodysuit. The suit’s eyes flashed with a red light as the mechanical man moved into pure evasive manoeuvres, his body weaving through each attack.

The moment he dodged the last thrust, he extended his left hand towards Asher’s face. From the upper part of his wrist, a compartment opened, and from it, a bomb was ejected, tearing towards Asher with blitzing speed.

Asher didn’t need to ask or think; he knew whatever that bomb was, it was bad news. He immediately snapped his fingers, his Astra Energy answering his call as he opened a portal the moment the bomb drew close.

Beside the mechanical man, another portal opened, and the bomb was ejected from it. The man didn’t hesitate. The moment he sensed the portal, his hand snapped outwards as he caught the bomb, which vanished into his iron suit. He recalibrated and immediately opened fire, unleashing another torrent of bullets upon Asher.

Asher’s speed spiked as he turned illusory, his body weaving through each bullet as he closed the distance. The moment he reached his opponent, the Light covering his rapier hummed with even greater force as he swung his blade downwards from above, moving to split the man in half.

But the man seemed to have predicted this, as he spun on his feet, his body weaving to the side as he dodged just in time. Appearing beside Asher, the mechanical man’s index finger extended towards Asher’s temple as he fired a high-calibre bullet, this one possessing even greater power and penetrating force.

Asher didn’t dare take that attack head-on, as he instinctively knew it would tear through his Light enhancements and rip his brain and skull apart.

His Space Affinity flickered as he phased through the bullet before it could reach his body, effectively escaping the attack. Without missing a beat, Gravity came alive, increasing the gravitational force within a five-metre radius.

The mechanical man felt it instantly as his iron suit groaned under the intense weight. Asher didn’t hesitate; his left fist shot towards the man’s chest as he moved to burst the suit open through sheer physical force.

As the attack was about to land, Asher released his hold on Gravity as his fist met the man’s chest. A titanic implosion erupted between them, spreading outwards in a barrage of destructive force.

But despite Asher’s attack landing, the man neither moved backwards nor staggered. He remained in place, taking the attack without flinching.

Asher was surprised. Although he hadn’t put one hundred per cent of his power into that attack, it was still astonishing to see a machine withstand such a blow without sustaining a single dent.

The enemy wasn’t surprised; he simply acted. What appeared to be a power source on his chest hummed as he immediately fired a beam of highly pressurised energy towards Asher, who was standing right in front of him.

Asher moved, but the man had anticipated that as well. He caught Asher’s upper limbs, holding him in place. Asher didn’t care; he simply exploded into bolts of lightning as he vanished from his position. The moment he was gone, the energy beam erupted with ridiculous destructive force, tearing even space apart.

Asher frowned for a moment at the sight. He could hardly believe that an energy beam had torn through space. It was stunning. His body reformed in another location after dodging the attack.
