Chapter 565: For The Cause

Chapter 565: For The Cause

A few moments earlier.

Asher’s figure appeared within the chamber holding the Villagers and Adventurers who had been kidnapped by this organization. Normally, Asher would have appeared within the guards’ room and would have woven an illusion to conceal what he was doing. But he knew that at this very moment, there was no need, as the Emovirae escape would serve as all the distraction he required, yet at the same time, he needed to be fast, otherwise, these Villagers and Adventurers would be wiped out before he could intervene.

With a single thought, Asher manipulated his Star Energy, and the next moment, hundreds of photon clones were formed by him. Without missing a beat, each of them tore toward the cages of the captured Villagers and Adventurers, breaking their chains and cuffs with precise efficiency, and each photon clone brought them toward Asher through instantaneous teleportation.

Each of them stared at Asher in utter shock at the speed at which he was moving and the sheer scale of what he was accomplishing within mere seconds.

"Shit!" Asher cursed as the roof above their heads collapsed violently, but he did not move, one of the photon clones handled it seamlessly, intercepting the falling debris before it could crush anyone. Asher did not intend to save just a few of them, he had said he wanted to save every single one of them, after all, this was a whopping four hundred thousand points in the bag.

At the side, unknown to Asher, something unexpected was happening in real time, the man from earlier, the man who had spoken to Asher about his son and had requested that Asher save him, suddenly grinned. But it was not only the man, even his so-called son, who was standing next to him, grinned as well, their expressions twisted into something that radiated madness and ecstasy rather than relief.

The man and the son could tell that Asher had done something prior to this moment, they could sense the malice, anger, and madness rising from underground, they could tell that the Emovirae captured below had been freed and that a battle was already erupting in full force.

From the very beginning, they had never been part of the captured Villagers, no, they were part of the organization itself, moles implanted among the Villagers just in case anything happened. Although the organization maintained audio surveillance and live feeds of their captives, they still took extra steps in their caution, ensuring that betrayal or infiltration would never go unnoticed.

The moment Asher’s photon clones gathered the last Villager within reach, the father and son laughed out loud like two deranged zealots and then shouted in unrestrained glee, "

FOR THE CAUSE!"

Asher’s senses screamed in warning, but his reaction was late, he had been momentarily distracted by the Villagers he was saving. The next moment, his head snapped toward the father and son, but before he could even react, their bodies grotesquely increased in size, Astra energy gathering violently within their forms as their veins bulged and their flesh distorted unnaturally, and then in the next instant, they both exploded in an overwhelming brilliance of maddened and ruinous crescendo. An explosion so enormous that it swallowed up the entire chamber, tearing everything asunder as though it were nothing more than fragile paper.

The floor beneath their feet shattered and burst apart, the cages were erased entirely, shockwaves slammed into the Villagers’ ears as agonized screams tore from their throats. Dust swirled violently, covering everything in a suffocating haze, choking and blinding all within the chamber.

Through the haze of smoke and debris, Asher came into being once more, and standing beside him were just about fifteen Villagers. Out of over four hundred people, he had saved only fifteen, as more than three hundred individuals had simply been erased under the combined suicide explosion of the father and son.

Nothing remained of them, not their bodies, nor flesh, nor blood, not even their clothes. Literal nothing. As ordinary people, an explosion caused by the self-detonation of two Life Rankers was not something they could possibly survive, let alone endure without being reduced to absolute nothingness.

Asher stood dumbfounded for a brief moment, he had been caught off guard by that attack, he had not seen it coming, he had not sensed it through his heightened perception. The next moment, he shook his head sharply, he could not afford to remain here for long, a couple more seconds and people might arrive despite the chaotic situation unfolding across the compound.

When Asher had seen that his mission involved saving people, he had made the necessary preparations in advance. And what were these necessary preparations? Back at the Canestane Barony, where he had met William and Instructor Jane for the first time, Instructor Jane had transported hundreds of students into a Separate Dimension by tearing a different type of Star Academy teleportation scroll.

Asher had simply asked his Facilitator for this same teleportation scroll. Of course, it was not free, as it could only be purchased, and he had paid for it without hesitation, which allowed him to teleport as many as five hundred people alongside himself. Asher was not naive enough to believe he could save these Villagers while simultaneously battling his enemies in hostile territory.

So his strategy had always been to teleport everyone directly to the Star Academy.

The teleportation scroll appeared in his hand, his Astra energy flowed outward, washing over everyone he wished to teleport, as that was one of the requirements of this particular type of teleportation scroll, otherwise, the scroll would indiscriminately teleport everyone within range.

With that, his Astra energy poured into the teleportation scroll, and instantly, a blinding white light engulfed him and the others, swallowing them entirely before they all vanished from where they stood.

The next moment, they arrived within the Logistics and Missions Operation Hall of the Star Academy.

The moment they appeared, everyone present was startled by the sudden manifestation of these... weak and disheveled individuals who clearly did not belong within such a prestigious environment.

Asher’s Facilitator, who had been sitting lazily as usual, shifted his gaze toward the new presence, and the moment he saw Asher along with the fifteen survivors, he vanished from where he stood and appeared directly before them. He did not need to be told who these fifteen people were, after all, he had already been aware of Asher’s plan to bring the Villagers here, which was not against the rules, otherwise he would never have sold the scroll to Asher in the first place.

’Did he complete the mission in seven days?’ the Facilitator wondered internally as he helped the trembling Villagers to their feet, his expression contemplative.

But unknown to him, the mission was not yet complete, Asher had not shed blood in retaliation. He had to wipe them out... he had to wipe everyone out.

Before the Facilitator could utter a single word to Asher, he vanished from the Separate Dimension entirely as he headed back to the location he had just left, his presence dissolving into streaks of silver light.

He needed to exact revenge upon this organization that had just cost him four hundred thousand points.
