Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 640: Cloud

Chapter 640: Cloud

Great Elder Morgana Wargrave floated with calm ease as she stared at her opponent with a composed smile; she was the second Great Elder out of the three. But sadly enough, she was not within the top three powerhouses the Wargrave family had; after all, there was Morthen Wargrave, her elder brother, who was a monster through and through, Azaron Wargrave, her nephew who had surpassed her, and lastly, Malrik Wargrave, who was not even half a century of age, yet stood among such terrifying figures.

Although she was surpassed by these three abnormal individuals, she sat comfortably at the fourth rank, and was also the strongest woman within such an overpowered bloodline.

She did not awaken the normal elemental affinity like fire or water and all that; her own elemental affinity was called Cloud, which literally allowed her to control clouds. It sounded simple and basic, almost laughably unimpressive when compared to destructive elements, but she always reminded her enemies why she was a Wargrave, and even the most basic or seemingly useless abilities became catastrophically dangerous in the hands of a Wargrave, their mastery turning simplicity into devastation.

In a blur, her soul-bound weapon appeared in her hand, a sword, but not just any sword; it was not straight like other blades, it slithered like a serpent, flexible yet deadly, her weapon was called a Ribbon Blade, a weapon that embodied unpredictability and lethality, capable of striking from impossible angles with terrifying precision.

A smile remained on her face as she stood calmly, devastation ringing around them as she stared at her opponent, a Royal Family Cabinet member named Ozzie, the air around them trembling under the sheer pressure of their presence, the battlefield already scarred by their mere existence before the clash had even fully unfolded.

Ozzie held two sharp daggers in his hands as he stared at Morgana with an indifferent expression, as though he was not afraid, but truthfully, he was simply one of those men who looked down on women, merely because they were women, believing they could never be better than a man, a mindset that would soon be tested against a Wargrave.

None of them exchanged words; they simply vanished from the sky where they floated with phantomic motion, leaving sound in the dust behind them. With cataclysmic impact, they collided into each other, then vanished from where they stood, appearing in another direction and clashing again, then vanishing once more. Each time, they left collapsing space, sinkholes, and ever-expanding sound waves and shockwaves in their path, the battlefield distorting under the sheer force of their movements.

Morgana’s smile never left her face as she moved, her movements swift, deadly, gentle, precise, and accurate, her sword just like its shape and design, viper-like, elusive and fatal, striking with elegance and lethal intent in equal measure.

With viper-like lethality, she thrust towards Ozzie’s eyes, the tip of her blade puncturing a hole through literal space. Seeing the incoming attack, Ozzie simply lifted his own weapons, positioning his daggers in an X-shaped formation, as the tip of Morgana’s sword was about to collide with the daggers, it suddenly slithered over the blades like a snake, changing its target from Ozzie’s eyes to his forehead as though it intended to tear a hole into his brain.

Ozzie frowned, his expressionless face vanishing as he saw the attack close in; he did not think, he did not delay, his body simply reacted as his instincts went into overdrive. The shadow under his feet immediately shifted, and he vanished as he sank into it as though the ground itself had disappeared beneath him.

Morgana’s attack met nothing but empty air, her blade unleashing a torrent of rampaging blast waves that pushed everything within a ninety-kilometer radius backwards with pure force and power, debris, trees, land, and boulders all tearing backwards before being shredded into nothingness under the sheer destructive output.

From behind her, Ozzie stepped out of her own shadow like the perfect assassin, his twin daggers sinking towards Morgana’s neck with perfect accuracy and lethality, and with sickening ease, the blades flashed through Morgana’s neck in a double slash, swift and decisive.

Ozzie’s facial expression shifted again; he had not torn through flesh, he did not feel the almost non-existent resistance of his blades tearing through something, nor did he feel the warmth of blood that should have accompanied such a strike.

Morgana had phased through his attack by shifting into a cloud form with calm ease, and she had also caught Ozzie off guard with such a simple manoeuvre, as she had expected him not to anticipate her evasion in such a manner, turning his confidence into a momentary vulnerability.

Her arm shot backwards, her body twisting as her elbow tore outward like a missile, and like a battering ram, it slammed into Ozzie’s temple with brain-shaking impact. Ozzie’s body immediately tore to the side as inertia and momentum seized him due to the overwhelming force of the attack, sending him flying across the battlefield.

But the moment he crossed only a single kilometer, he regained control over his body with graceful ease, his form twisting as he landed on the earth with perfect motion. His head snapped upwards towards Morgana’s position, but all he saw was a viper-like blade already closing in for his throat, lethal and precise.

Ozzie immediately acted, his Astra energy booming from his body as the shadow from the ground tore upwards like spikes, tens in number. Seeing the incoming counterattack, Morgana had no choice but to abandon her own attack, as her cloud form could only phase through physical attacks and not such manifested constructs of energy and shadow.

The next moment, she vanished from where she stood, but she did not just leave; she left shrouds of black clouds in her place, dense and ominous. Ozzie, seeing the clouds, wondered what Morgana was plotting, but in the next instant, he sank into his own shadow again and vanished, his form appearing at a distance as he immediately vomited blood from his mouth, the delayed effect of her hidden attack surfacing.

The clouds Morgana had left behind were not normal clouds; they were poisonous clouds, under her control and mastery, capable of corroding the body from within. Through her affinity, she could unleash various types of clouds, each carrying a different and deadly property.

But the moment Ozzie stepped into the open and was vomiting blood, the clouds in the sky crackled with pure white lightning, the electrical charge climbing upwards with each passing millisecond. In the next moment, a gigantic bolt of thunderstorm energy dropped from the sky as though the heavens themselves had personally launched an attack.

Ozzie’s eyes snapped upwards as he saw the attack; he clicked his tongue in annoyance, the shadows under his feet shifting into a massive black shield that rose to protect him, and with a ruinous burst of crackling and destructive crescendo, an apocalyptic force was unleashed as white lightning wiped out everything within a four-hundred-kilometer radius with overwhelming electric fury.

Although Morgana could not directly control lightning, through her Cloud affinity, she could achieve such an effect by storing electrical charges within the clouds; by building up these charges, she could unleash a literal lightning storm if she so wished, bending the sky itself into a weapon of annihilation.

But those were just the basics of her abilities; through her Cloud affinity, she could also control water, manipulate wind, and when she combined all of these, her Cloud affinity had somewhat half-step evolved into a Storm-type affinity... but alas, it was only a half step, an incomplete transformation that still held immense potential.

After all, evolving a talent or affinity was never easy, even for the ridiculous Wargraves, whose very existence seemed to challenge the natural order of power and growth.

But still, she held her position as the fourth strongest within such a family, a title that, even on its own, was enough to place her among the most terrifying beings in existence, her calm smile masking a power that could reduce entire landscapes to ruin.
