Chapter 743: Overlord [Golden Gachapon Bonus - ]
"So, who is the ruler or holds the highest Authority within the Awakener Association?" William asked, unable to suppress his curiosity any longer.
"The ruler of the Awakener Association is referred to as the Overlord, and she’s a woman. She has ruled the Thalvorn Empire for several centuries now. Her tales and achievements are the stuff of legends," FatelessPen answered calmly. "I’m sure you all will eventually meet her during the competition, or perhaps even before then, so don’t bother asking me too much about her. Even I myself know very little aside from her name," he added in finality.
Asher and the others nodded in understanding. FatelessPen had merely visited the Thalvorn Empire as a traveler on vacation, so it was understandable that he did not possess detailed knowledge regarding the mysterious Overlord.
"Since practically everything about the Thalvorn Empire is different, are their power systems also different from ours? Things like the term ’Life Rank’ and all the various designations?" Vaelric asked, his question both logical and grounded.
"There is absolutely no difference between our power system and that of the Thalvorn Empire, or even any other Empire for that matter. We all fundamentally share the same cultivation system," FatelessPen explained without missing a beat, clearly already familiar with such questions after traveling through all four Empires once he reached the Radiant Crownstar Life Rank.
"At the end of the day, cultivation remains cultivation. Drawing in Astra Energy, refining Astra Veins, strengthening one’s body and existence. The methods remain the same regardless of where you go. So there is no need for each Empire to attempt acting unique or creating entirely different systems, there is simply no real gain in doing so." He stated calmly.
Asher nodded inwardly in agreement, personally, he genuinely preferred things this way. Creating entirely separate power systems for every Empire would have been unnecessarily complicated and would only confuse people even more. Having a single, universally established cultivation system was honestly far better.
"What about their currency?" Ryaen suddenly asked. "Do we need to exchange our own coins for theirs in order to shop freely here?" As a woman, she already had numerous things she wanted to purchase within this foreign Empire.
Within the previous month of brutal training, Cindralis had permitted parents and guardians to send their children spending money for their stay within the Thalvorn Empire so everyone could spend according to their own wealth and status.
As for orphaned students, Cindralis had personally given them coins from her own pockets. She was simply far too wealthy to behave stingily toward her students.
And naturally, individuals like Asher, Ryaen, and Vaelric had received hundreds of Platinum Coins.
"Hmmm... In the distant past, around several thousand years ago, every Empire possessed its own separate currency system," FatelessPen explained as though he had personally witnessed the historical event itself. "However, due to the constant trade occurring between Empires and the endless complications surrounding currency conversion, representatives from all the major Empires eventually gathered together and established a universal currency system for the entire world."
"So no need to worry," FatelessPen added with a teasing smile. "You all can spend to your heart’s content. Although... you all are going to be quite shocked very soon."
"Shocked by what?" Asher immediately asked.
"That," FatelessPen smirked mischievously, "will remain a surprise."
Everyone fell silent momentarily before collectively sighing helplessly. None of them even knew how to respond to the man anymore.
Finch immediately reverted back to his merchant instincts as he leaned forward slightly before speaking.
"So... about the technology issue. Even if the Thalvorn Empire refuses to share its technology, couldn’t you simply draw some of these inventions yourself and secretly sell them to us nobles?" he suggested.
"And why exactly would I do that when I can simply draw money for myself?" FatelessPen replied lazily as he shook his head. "That sounds like a completely thankless task."
Finch paused briefly before awkwardly nodding, "my bad," he muttered quietly.
"You know," FatelessPen suddenly stated while glancing toward Finch, "I genuinely admire your merchant instincts and talent." He sighed lightly afterward. "Too bad I can never become a merchant myself even if I wanted to."
Asher remained silent. Technically and practically speaking, FatelessPen could probably be considered the richest man alive when it came to sheer wealth.
Within auctions, the man could easily outbid almost anyone, no, he did not even truly need to bid, he simply needed to announce some absurdly outrageous price and the item would practically become his immediately.
But at the same time, FatelessPen likely had no reason to even attend auctions in the first place. The man could literally draw almost any resource or object he desired directly into reality itself so long as he possessed enough Astra Energy.
’I wonder what the limitations of his ability are,’ Asher thought inwardly as he stared at FatelessPen thoughtfully.
But unknown to Asher, FatelessPen’s ability possessed strict limitations. For him to draw something into reality and allow it to truly exist, that object or entity must have already existed somewhere within Crymora previously.
Meaning he could not simply draw a World Tree from fantasy novels into existence on a whim. Nor could he casually create a Dragon from nothingness. Such things either did not exist within Crymora, so they fell completely outside the boundaries of his ability.
But at the end of the day, such restrictions hardly mattered. Why would FatelessPen even need a World Tree or Dragon in the first place?
The man could already draw forth devastating attacks, terrifying artifacts, and countless useful resources whenever he wished. Though ironically enough, FatelessPen rarely possessed any desire to actually use his abilities for such extravagant purposes.
With that, Ryaen, William, Finch, and Vaelric immediately returned to reading once more as they hurriedly attempted to cram as much information as possible before finally arriving within the Zero Rings.
As for Asher, he simply sat quietly in silence while wondering what exactly the Zero Rings would be like.
He wondered how many arrogant young masters would exist there, individuals who held themselves above the heavens simply because they belonged to the top one percent of the Thalvorn Empire.
Or perhaps they would not be arrogant at all. After all, everyone within the Zero Rings was practically a powerhouse in their own right, leaving little room for meaningless arrogance and stupidity.
’Hmmm... a little bit of face-slapping cliché honestly wouldn’t hurt,’ Asher mused inwardly.
Although he personally hated face-slapping clichés due to how many authors back on Earth constantly overused them without understanding moderation, he realized he had not truly experienced any proper cliché face-slapping moments since arriving within Crymora.
He might as well test it out if the opportunity presented itself amongst the Zero Ring brats.
Of course, he had absolutely no intention of intentionally causing trouble himself, but if trouble naturally found its way toward him... well, that would simply be perfect.
A faint smile slowly spread across his face at the thought, as though he could already imagine such scenarios unfolding before him.
FatelessPen, noticing that Asher and the others had fallen silent once more, did not continue speaking.
The history lessons he had given Asher and his group were simultaneously occurring within almost every vehicle through his clones, each clone providing identical explanations and information to whichever students bothered asking questions.
As for students who remained silent maybe too afraid to ask, FatelessPen’s clones simply ignored them entirely.
