Chapter 861: The Worldshaper's Relic
Chapter 861: The Worldshaper’s Relic
Thomasinho began to speak. “Now, unlike the last two rounds that had a bunch of rules, hardly any rules exist here… well, aside from damaging your opponent’s Astra veins,” he mused as he spoke.
“There will be no time limit like in the previous rounds. If any of you can fight for one year straight, do so. We are ready to wait until either of you falls. Also, after every battle or match, you will be healed back to your peak condition, and your stamina will be fully recovered. However, how much Astra energy you are able to recover before your next matchup depends entirely on you, as there are no resting periods or specialized Astra energy areas here,” AlyxAtlas stated with an indifferent expression.
None of the students complained, as it was simply common sense. Besides, as geniuses in their own right, each of them possessed above-average Astra reserves. Of course, they didn’t all possess the same amount of Astra energy, but at the very least, none of them would run dry quickly.
Thomasinho picked up where AlyxAtlas had left off. “And obviously, since this is a one-versus-one match and the final round, the last person standing wins the entire Inter-Empire Competition,” he stated as though he wanted to make it explicitly clear, just in case any fool present hadn’t managed to figure that much out.
“As usual, we could have simply teleported each of you to a battlefield, like a desert or a wasteland, but this time around, we’ve decided to switch things up a little,” AlyxAtlas spoke with a smile. “This round of the Inter-Empire Competition will be held right here.”
Her words immediately caused the live spectators to erupt with joy, their chants rising toward the sky as they stomped their feet against the ground in excitement. Many of them knew they couldn’t even follow the movement speed or attack speed of these students, yet they rejoiced as though they could witness every single exchange perfectly.
The sixteen students, especially Asher, couldn’t help but look around the so-called battlefield. While the Coliseum itself was enormous, the arena wasn’t nearly wide enough to contain their destructive capabilities or allow them to rampage freely without restraint.
Even so, none of them spoke or complained, as they were certain that the people responsible for organizing this competition had already taken that into consideration.
“This is to ensure maximum entertainment for the live spectators and audience. After all, if they can’t truly feel the battle happening before them, then that’s no different from watching it from their respective homes and Empires, right?” Thomasinho stated with a smile.
“But we’ll get back to that in a moment, because as of now, we’ve employed new measures to ensure this round proceeds perfectly without a hitch,” AlyxAtlas began to speak. “And it is with the utmost respect that I announce the presence of the woman known as Cindralis, the Space Goddess, Principal of the Star Academy from the Zarethorne Empire, and the only true Immortal on this planet.” Her voice gradually became respectful and almost fanatical toward the end.
AlyxAtlas was a woman herself, so she was naturally a huge admirer of Cindralis, another woman who stood at the pinnacle of power.
A rift opened high in the sky, and from within it, Cindralis descended as though she were a higher existence making her presence known to those of lower existence.
The crowd didn’t cheer or scream at the tops of their lungs. Instead, they simply stared, mesmerized by Cindralis’s breathtaking beauty as she floated gracefully through the air. Besides, no one casually chanted the name of a Crownstar Life Ranker.
“Just as the commentator known as AlyxAtlas has said, we are employing various measures to ensure this round proceeds without a hitch despite being held here,” Cindralis began to speak calmly, her dark hair drifting elegantly in the wind. “And for that, I will be increasing the spatial dimensions of this arena.”
She didn’t gesture for anyone to remain silent, nor did she wait for them to fully comprehend her words. Her Astra energy simply flowed outward as she tapped into her Space Affinity. The next moment, it appeared as though the entire Coliseum was expanding in real time, its boundaries being pushed farther and farther outward.
The spectators were utterly captivated as they rose to their feet and stared in complete awe. They felt no earthquake, no tremors, and no clouds of dust rising into the air. Nothing at all. Not only them, but even the students themselves, including Asher and Arianna, could only watch the spectacle with fascination.
After a few seconds, Cindralis was finished. She had expanded the arena from a radius of less than one hundred meters to an astonishing radius of one kilometer.
She gazed at both the students and the crowd, gave them a slight nod, and then gracefully flew back into the rift that had remained open in the sky.
Thomasinho, while still visibly amazed by the display before him, spoke. “And there you have it, the power of a Crownstar Life Ranker.” His tone was almost calm. “The radius of the battlefield will be increased or reduced in real time as the various battles progress, depending on the students’ power output,” he explained.
“And throughout this round, the sixteen of you are going to spectate each battle with us from above,” AlyxAtlas spoke as she snapped her fingers.
At the sound of her fingers snapping, sixteen floating throne-like chairs materialized in the sky. Everyone’s head, both students’ and spectators’, tilted upward as they stared at the majestic thrones.
“Each of you is going to take a seat. However, the moment you lose your battle, you won’t return here. Instead, you’ll be removed from the arena entirely,” Thomasinho stated calmly as he gazed down at the students.
“Come up and take a seat,” AlyxAtlas instructed with a smile.
Asher and Arianna were the first to move as they both vanished from where they stood, directly teleporting themselves to their respective seats. Theodore Elox was the next to arrive, with the remaining students appearing in blurs of motion as they all settled comfortably upon their floating thrones.
The spectators could only raise their heads as they watched the students seated high above them.
“Now, onto the next development,” AlyxAtlas continued after everyone had settled down. “For this final round, the Overlord has brought out a sealed and dangerous artifact to make things even more interesting.” She snapped her fingers once again.
Directly before the students, a glowing orb the size of a basketball appeared, pulsing with an unknown presence. They all simply stared at it, wondering what this artifact truly was and just how dangerous it could actually be.
“This is the Worldshaper’s Relic,” Thomasinho began to speak. “Its function is simple. By touching it and channeling your thoughts into it, it can rewrite the terrain with ease at absolutely no cost or drawback.”
At his words, everyone immediately understood why the artifact was considered so dangerous and why it had remained sealed away all this time. After all, if someone were to get their hands on an artifact like this, then…
Although it wasn’t explained just how powerful the Worldshaper’s Relic truly was or how much of the world it could actually rewrite, people couldn’t help but imagine the worst.
“The Worldshaper’s Relic absorbs ambient Astra energy to fuel the rewrite. It doesn’t consume Astra energy from its user, so you don’t have to worry about anything or fear your Astra reserves being depleted,” Thomasinho continued, his eyes fixed on the students.
Some of the students couldn’t understand why Thomasinho was looking directly at them while explaining this particular function, but the smarter ones, like Asher, Teo, and Arianna, could already tell exactly where this was heading.
