Chapter 935: Virelass' New Abilities-2 [Ko-fi Bonus Chapter]

Chapter 935: Virelass’ New Abilities-2 [Ko-fi Bonus Chapter]

With Position Marker done, Asher shifted his thoughts to the second ability Virelass possessed, Astra Veil.

With the upgrade, Virelass could now store up to one hundred percent of his Astra Energy reserves. Meaning, Asher could now fight with twice the efficiency. Depleted reserves? Virelass to the rescue. And with his ability to continuously rejuvenate his own stamina through Lightning physical conditioning, Asher had effectively achieved near-endless stamina.

Both skills seemed to complement each other perfectly.

The best part was the new skill under the Astra Veil ability. Previously, Asher had always needed to transfer the stored Astra Energy into his Astra veins before he could use it. But now, he could directly utilize the Astra Energy stored within the rapier itself to unleash an attack. Asher had never actually unleashed an attack that required one hundred percent of his Astra Energy reserves.

And with such monstrous reserves that even Arianna Haellight, the one blessed by the World and born with naturally awakened Astra veins, couldn’t match, Asher had no idea just how destructive such an attack would truly be.

But Asher knew it wasn’t limited to just one hundred percent. For example, if he transferred fifty percent of the stored Astra Energy from Virelass into himself, that didn’t suddenly mean he could no longer unleash a devastating attack using the remaining fifty percent still stored within Virelass.

The system existed to explain the surface-level functions and the basic uses of newly evolved abilities. It wasn’t there to explain every possible application or every hidden interaction they might possess. Nor was it there to hold its Host’s hand like a helpless baby.

And the second new skill under Astra Veil made Asher grin like an idiot. It had to be known that no ordinary person could transfer Astra Energy to another individual… well, at least not anyone known to the public, as someone somewhere might possess such an ability as their awakened power. After all, Buddha had done exactly that with Acker Holloway.

Anyway, now, he, Asher, could do exactly the same.

On a battlefield, he could continuously supply William, Finch, Ryaen, or anyone else with Astra Energy whenever their reserves ran dry, allowing them to continue fighting without interruption. After all, there was nothing like Astra Energy potions or recovery elixirs in this world, and people could only replenish their Astra Energy by naturally absorbing it from the surrounding atmosphere.

Although giving Astra Energy to others was, in a sense, disadvantageous to himself, Asher didn’t mind in the slightest. For one, any Astra Energy Virelass expended immediately began recovering passively on its own. Secondly, his own body, through a skill he had personally created, continuously restored the Astra Energy he spent passively. And finally, he possessed an endless source of Star Energy, as the Star Core Fragment within his heart could generate it without limit.

This was, through and through, an outstanding new ability.

He was already looking forward to unleashing a one-hundred-percent Lightning- or Flame-based attack using Virelass’ stored Astra Energy alone. He couldn’t help but imagine combining such destruction with his Songs Of Virelass rapier technique.

The sheer scale of destruction would be nothing short of beautiful.

Asher quickly snapped himself out of his imagination as he immediately cautioned himself for entertaining such terrorist-like thoughts.

His attention then shifted toward Virelass’ final ability, Crimson Pact.

With the new skill under Crimson Pact, Asher could now purify poisons. Although he had already created a similar skill through his Light Affinity, he already knew it wasn’t nearly as comprehensive as this new evolution under Crimson Pact. Poisons had now become meaningless. Toxins, venoms, hallucinogens, neurotoxins, and countless other harmful substances had similarly become far less threatening.

But Asher wasn’t foolish enough to be lulled into a false sense of security. One had to remember that these effects could be purified, not that he had become completely immune to them. It was no different from how he could regenerate after suffering injuries rather than being invincible or incapable of being injured in the first place.

Meaning, if he were poisoned, the poison would still immediately take effect. The speed at which it would be neutralized depended entirely upon the quality and potency of the blood being used to combat it. After all, he couldn’t realistically expect the blood of a Whisper-class Monster to purify the venom of an End-class Monster. He would simply die long before such a purification could ever succeed.

So yet again, everything ultimately depended on the quality of the blood available to fuel his regeneration, as well as the potency of the attack itself.

The ability to heal minor soul damage also appeared somewhat redundant considering he already possessed Soul Protection. Still, Asher wasn’t about to complain. It was better to have an additional safeguard than none at all. After all, who knew whether one day he might encounter some mysterious soul-based ability capable of bypassing the system altogether? One could never be too cautious in a world like Crymora.

But then came the true game changer, the second new skill under Crimson Pact. A skill capable of increasing the quality of every single blood source Virelass absorbed by an entire grade.

At this very moment, the fifteen barrels of Void-class blood Azaron had given him earlier had all been elevated into End-class blood.

If that wasn’t absolute madness, then Asher didn’t know what was. Even the lower-quality blood Virelass had stored over time had all risen by a complete grade.

‘If Father later gives me the blood of an End-class Monster… what grade would it evolve into?’ Asher wondered to himself, unable to suppress his curiosity.

Blood that had transcended the very limits of the world itself… Just how overwhelmingly potent would such blood become?

Perhaps a single drop alone would be enough to restore him completely to his peak condition in an instant, even if he was at the Crownstar Life Rank.

And then there was the third new skill under Crimson Pact, another complete game changer. With both the quantity of blood and the purity required for regeneration being exponentially reduced, didn’t that effectively mean the cost of every healing session had been drastically lowered? Of course, critical and fatal injuries had been excluded from that benefit, but that was perfectly understandable.

Asher had always known that his own absurd physique and monstrous vitality were the primary reasons his regeneration had always been comparatively slow, requiring an entire five minutes before fully restoring him. But now, with the second and third skills of Crimson Pact working together in perfect harmony, wasn’t he essentially becoming an unkillable cockroach?

How was this any different from severing the head of a Monster only for it to immediately grow two new ones in its place?

Asher was absolutely loving this evolution.

Deep down, he had secretly hoped that at least one of his elemental affinities would evolve. Perhaps then he would obtain Perfect Elemental Control, thereby fulfilling the condition the system had previously set for him while simultaneously boosting his combat strength to an utterly ridiculous level.

Although that hadn’t happened, his survivability had increased to an equally ridiculous degree. At this point, anyone wishing to kill Asher would have to eliminate him in a single attack. Without accomplishing that, his opponents would simply be signing their own death warrants.

But… It was often said that too much of anything was bad.

Whether that statement was true depended entirely upon the one interpreting it. After all, for Asher, none of these abilities could possibly be considered leading to anything bad.

But if too much of everything truly was a bad thing, did that perhaps mean something equally terrible was now making its way toward him?

Only time would answer that question.

But alas, no one could see the future, so no one could truly know.

…Sigh.
