Chapter 969: Best Month
Chapter 969: Best Month
Asher couldn’t help but sigh. This was the exact reason he had ignored their messages yesterday. But alas, he had no reason to hide anything. It wasn’t like his friends were paparazzi who would approach Arianna to verify his claims.
With that, Asher explained everything. It had simply been a normal outing with no romantic subplot, so he went into detail about most things and didn’t hide anything.
After Asher was done narrating what had happened yesterday, since these four simply wouldn’t let him be, William spoke.
"At least you acted like a perfect gentleman by opening the door for her on all occasions," he said with a satisfied smile. "I will rate this non-romantic date a seven out of ten," he added as he gave Asher a small thumbs-up.
Hearing his words, Asher asked, "And where did the remaining three points vanish to?"
"Because you didn’t make any moves to evolve the non-romantic date into a romantic one," Vaelric explained expertly.
Asher shook his head, not bothering to argue or say anything. Their evaluation meant nothing to him. He was the one with years of experience in the matter, not these four single idiots. He wasn’t taking advice from any of them.
If he had made any moves, Arianna would have simply felt uncomfortable on the spot.
She, who had spent her whole life walking past men and boys confessing their feelings to her day and night, had now suddenly gone on a single outing, only for the guy to lean in for a kiss or attempt something romantic. That might have made her never want to go anywhere with any guy again.
"We are ending this talk here," Asher stated as he decided to bury the matter once and for all. He was already getting a headache from talking to these three.
Can someone with his outrageous Vitality even get headaches? But he most definitely did at the moment.
"Tell me about your day instead. Or did all of you basically stay indoors doing nothing?" he asked, changing the topic.
Finch smiled as he spoke, "Well, since you were going on a racing date, we decided to head to a race track too. The hotel took us to one."
And with that, the three of them explained everything they had done yesterday, as just like Asher, they had all tried to have as much fun as possible before tomorrow came. After all, no one knew when else they would be coming here.
Asher simply listened and didn’t interrupt any of them.
’That’s true... I told Kimberley that I was going to introduce her to Finch, but it escaped my mind,’ Asher thought to himself as he suddenly remembered.
He had locked himself within the separate space, spending five days there, then spent the sixth day with Arianna. There was only today left to introduce Finch and Kimberley Elox to each other. But it was already too late.
’Thankfully, she said her family would be coming to the Zarethorne Empire in a month’s time to conduct business,’ Asher suddenly remembered, as Kimberley had mentioned it during the award ceremony six days ago. She had said that it was her family’s tradition to visit each Empire and conduct trade and all sorts of business with them after every Inter-Empire Competition.
As Asher remembered, his attention shifted towards Finch as he spoke, "Hey, Finch, I’ll be introducing you to someone soon. I’m sure you and her would hit it off from the very beginning, but as for any romantic developments... well... I don’t know if she’d be into men of your unique physique and constitution," he said calmly as his purple eyes landed on Finch’s round belly and chubby body.
He was merely introducing Finch to Kimberley because Finch loved money. Anything that developed from there had nothing to do with him and was entirely up to Finch. At the very least, with this, Finch could finally show the women and dating skills he had been boasting about while judging Asher’s non-romantic date. Whether they became friends, business partners, or something more, that would no longer concern Asher.
Finch paused for a moment as his brain spun rapidly. He couldn’t help but ask as a thought occurred to him.
"Does Arianna Haellight have a sister?" His tone was almost expectant, as that was the only thing that made sense to him at the moment.
Asher couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the greedy Finch. If Arianna Haellight had a sister, she too would probably be dangerously beautiful, incredibly popular, and equally outstanding.
"No. I’m introducing you to the daughter of the Patriarch of the Elox family," he stated, correcting any misunderstanding.
Finch’s eyes immediately lit up, images of platinum coins flashing through his eyes as enormous vaults overflowing with platinum bars and gold ingots appeared within his imagination.
The Elox family? To Finch, the ever-dedicated businessman and money lover, what could possibly be better than this?
At this moment, Finch didn’t think in the direction of love or whatever young people believed love was. No, his thoughts were completely focused on how he was going to make an absurd amount of money through the Elox family’s daughter if they ever met.
Money had completely overridden any useless thoughts of romance within his mind. Love didn’t pay the bills, but platinum coins certainly did. In Finch’s eyes, business opportunities were infinitely more attractive than candlelit dinners or sweet words whispered beneath the moonlight.
"Why didn’t you introduce her to me earlier? We could have had time to build rapport and discuss business ventures and ideas," Finch immediately blurted out.
"It skipped my mind because I’ve simply been too busy. But she will be coming to the Zarethorne Empire next month with her family, so I’ll definitely introduce you then. The Star Academy will also be on its year-end holiday around that time, so you won’t be stuck at the Star Academy," Asher explained.
Finch stayed silent, no longer speaking. A single smile remained on his lips as his imagination ran wild. To Finch, next month was about to become one of the greatest months of his life.
Next month, he would meet the daughter of the Elox family, and the climax of it all was that the yearly countdown for Lior’s Yearbound ability was also going to reset next month. Meaning that by next month, he would gain both the opportunity to make an insane amount of money and also awaken some outrageous ability.
And with his Good Luck ability standing proudly over him, both events were definitely going to go perfectly and smoothly. Nobody was going to have a more perfect month than him next month.
William, Ryaen, Asher, and Vaelric could only stare at him, wondering what he was so smug about. Of course, they knew Finch loved money to his very bones, but that smile suggested something more. They had their guesses, but they didn’t dig into it. They all had their own secrets. If Finch wasn’t saying anything, then they didn’t push.
Vaelric, Ryaen, and William shifted their attention towards Asher as they simply stared at him with certain expressions of expectation, as though they were waiting for Asher to tell them that he also had people to introduce to them, or introduce them to someone else.
Asher shook his head as he spoke, "Don’t look at me with those faces. I’m not a sex trafficker or anything of the sort, nor am I secretly running some matchmaking company on the side," he said flatly.
William, Ryaen, and Vaelric clicked their tongues at Finch’s luck. Why did it have to be Finch? Why couldn’t it have been one of them instead?
But alas, they weren’t the ones sleeping in the same bed as Lady Luck.
