She led them to their new accommodations.

Xie Zhinuan didn’t specify where to place them, and certainly not in the guest quarters, but the estate was large enough, with plenty of back courtyards, that these people would naturally have to live separately.

Auntie Chen took them there first. The boys and girls were separated, and about ten women shared one courtyard, all sleeping on heated brick beds, with several people sharing a room.

"Aren’t there many rooms available over there? Why can’t we stay there?" Lu Yuyu whispered.
