Chapter 1787: Throw Out

Continuing to move through the Fleeting Cloud Empire’s Explorer Union Branches in hopes of finding a way through the constantly growing battlefield, Chu Yang soon ended up finding himself being swallowed up by the expanding borders of the battlefield that grew without any care for his feelings.

If anything, he could be considered among the lucky few who happened to be staying at an Explorer Union branch when a large group of cultivators belonging to different major powers flew by to establish new battle lines. After all, the strength of these cultivators was far from weak, with the weakest among them having reached the Soul Ascension Realm and the ones in the lead reaching all the way to the Middle Stage of the Dao Seed Realm or what was considered the Peak of the Earth Immortal Realm.

Although he was confident in his own strength, he understood very well that he would stand no chance against these organized groups belonging to different major powers, as outside of being stronger than him, they had also practiced all kinds of battle formations that allowed a group with a Middle Stage Dao Seed Realm cultivator to rival someone in the Late Stage of the Dao Seed Realm.

Considering that he himself was barely around the middle stages of the Soul Ascension Realm in terms of strength, he didn’t really want to get involved with someone that powerful and so, he ended up being forced to remain at the Explorer Union Branch instead of leaving like he had originally intended to do after he found another path he could try and use to break through the battlefield he had now found himself trapped inside of...

"Damn it! I was one day too late! If I just left earlier, I could have made it out before this place was swallowed by a nearby battlefield!"

"What can we do? Just wait for things to blow over and leave when things calm down, I doubt this place will be part of a major battlefield for more than a few days."

"A few days!? I can only stay here for another day before the Explorer Union throws me out!"

"That... Guess you can always join the Explorer Union to ensure your safety..."

"Hmph! I know... But I don’t want to give up my independence. After all, there is no way I can continue roaming around freely if I end up joining the Explorer Union as an official member!"

Like him, other wandering cultivators who were sheltering inside the Explorer Union Branch began to loudly discuss the situation with each other, one of them even lamenting over the fact that he only had a single day left to shelter inside the Explorer Union branch before he would be forced out by the staff.

All things considered, Chu Yang’s own situation wasn’t that different, as he could stay at the branch for another two days before being forced out, as he had already been staying for three days before the place was swallowed up by the nearby battlefield.

However, different from the wandering cultivators around him, Chu Yang didn’t consider officially becoming a part of the Explorer Union even once, as he himself was already part of the Star Shattering Sect... And there was no way the Explorer Union would willingly allow someone already part of a major power to become part of their internal operations.

With that in mind, he had to find some way to stay safe after leaving the branch in the future.

Unfortunately, with his current strength, it was close to impossible for him to hide from any of the powerful cultivators that would be roaming across the massive battlefield. Making his first plan of disguising himself as a normal mortal, wandering the world impossible.

His second plan of disguising himself as a weak Qi Condensation Realm or Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator was similarly thrown out as well, as it wouldn’t be that simple to suppress his own cultivation to that degree without causing some kind of permanent damage.

Lowering his strength to outwardly show his strength as the Domain Lord Realm was relatively simple, the main problem with this was that someone at the Domain Lord Realm was far too strong and would catch the attention of the different powerful cultivators wandering the battlefield.

And so, without any plan for what to do when he was inevitably throw out of the Explorer Union branch, time began to pass and soon enough, he found himself approached by a staff member at the Core Formation Realm, who kindly informed him that he should leave... And although he wanted to refuse, he understood that doing so would directly offend the Explorer Union and would potentially end up with them directly asking the major powers to deal with him.

This was not entirely something he believed might happen, but something he had already seen happen in the past, as there was no lack of wandering cultivators who would refuse to leave the safety of the branch sect and at the same time also refuse to join the Explorer Union. Not feeling the slightest bit of fear in the face of the local branch, who in most circumstances only had someone at the Nascent Soul Realm present to oversee the branch.

In the end, they learnt the hard way, as the Explorer Union would either send over someone powerful enough to deal with the situation or would directly ask the powerful cultivator of a nearby major power to deal with the situation for them, something that the different major powers were more than happy to do, as it not only allowed them to snatch up the wealth of a powerful cultivator, but also helped them get their hands on a perfect tool to test out the formations of the ancient alchemy sect.

After all, the ancient alchemy sect ruins were far from safe and was, according to what Chu Yang had managed to learn from the Explorer Union, filled with deadly formations that still blocked the major powers outside from stepping into the true core of these ancient ruins.

The different troublemakers from the Explorer Union thus ended up turning into the best testing dummies for these different deadly formations, as although using puppets and other things to test out and probe the ancient formations, it was far less wasteful to use these troublemakers who were by no means weak...

Shaking his head as he thought about how he himself might end up turning into one such testing dummy for the different deadly formations of the ancient alchemy sect, Chu Yang solemnly nodded his head after being informed to leave by the staff from the Explorer Union Branch, something that earned him a bit of gratitude with the staff member, who was generous enough to give him a few hours to prepare, something that was far from ordinary, as most would just be forced out the second they had stayed at the branch for five days.

As for how the local staff could even tell how long different cultivators had stayed at the branch with some of them far exceeding their cultivation realm? That was due to a standard observation formation that existed at all branches of the Explorer Union. Helping log and record whenever someone entered one of their branches.

Although it was far from strong enough to log and record everyone entering the Explorer Union branch, it did at least have enough strength to store information on those who stepped inside the branch for a few months... And maybe more importantly, it was impossible to circumvent the formation without destroying it, something that would inevitably end up alerting the branch to what had happened.

Of course, it wasn’t impossible to sneak through the formation, it was just that the requirements were far too high, as Chu Yang had already asked and learnt it would at least require a Pinnacle Grandmaster Realm Formation Master or even a Saint Realm Formation Master.

In the face of formation masters that powerful, there wasn’t much the Explorer Union could do, but then again, formation masters that powerful wouldn’t need the Explorer Union to hide in the first place and would be more than capable of creating concealment formations strong enough to evade even the senses of someone in the Celestial Immortal Realm.

"Maybe I should also start to learn the Dao of Formations...?" Muttering this to himself as he slowly made his way out of the entrance to the Explorer Union Branch, Chu Yang could not help seriously consider learning the Dao of Formations himself, as it would have helped him avoid the dangerous situation, he was about to place himself in.

But then again... He had attempted to learn the Dao of Formations in the past and understood that he was far from talented in that regard...

In other words, it would likely prove far more useful for him to increase his own strength further instead of attempting to comprehend a brand-new Dao like the Dao of Formations.

After all, even if he comprehended it, he would need to at least reach the Large Success Realm for it to be useful in this situation, a realm in which even his main dao hadn’t reached...
