Chapter 2126: Searching for the Lord of the Devil Forest

Chapter 2126: Searching for the Lord of the Devil Forest

Unaware of the change that had taken place in the cultivators from the cultivator alliance that had decided to chase him into the devil forest, Xuan Hao hadn’t even realized that this group of cultivators had even been able to follow him in the first place after he erased any traces through the Dao of Space when escaping earlier. The artifact used by these cultivators from the cultivator alliance working not by tracking his path he might have left behind by shuttling through space, but instead by directly tracking his presence within the small world, something that was impossible for him to hide from without leaving the small world itself. After all, though this unique little artifact only had this one ability, it was exceptional at what it did and hadn’t even allowed someone like Xuan Hao to notice that he was being tracked.

Not that it would have made that much of a difference in him going to the devil forest after having swept through the treasury of the cultivator alliance. Not at all intending on clashing with the upper echelons of the cultivator alliance. Understanding that doing so might not just risk his own death within the ascension tower, but even if he successfully fended off the powerful cultivators from the cultivator alliance, the battle itself would undoubtedly alert the demon beast of the devil forest and in turn the lord of the devil forest.

In which case, there was a good chance that the second his battle with the cultivators from the cultivator alliance came to an end, he would end up having to face off against the powerful demon beasts from the devil forest alongside the lord of the devil forest, something he understood full well wouldn’t end well for him.

That aside, the current Xuan Hao found himself easily moving through the devil forest without alerting a single powerful demon beast along the way. Making full use of his mastery over the Dao of Space to conceal his own presence as he moved deeper into the devil forest in search of the lord of the devil forest that he needed to take down to successfully complete the task that had been assigned to him by the ascension tower when he stepped into the small world that was the twenty eighth floor of the tower.

But as he continued moving deeper into the devil forest, he couldn’t help noticing that the demon beasts that had originally just been lazily sprawled out within their own cave or nest so far seemed to have been alerted by something and had begun gathering towards the outer part of the devil forest. Leaving him somewhat confused as to what was happening, as he himself was clearly not the target of these demon beasts that came surging forth from the depths of the devil forest.

Instead, it was very clear to him that it was something else that had caused these demon beasts to stir all of a sudden and given how even the stronger demon beasts above the Dao Seed Realm had been woken and jumped forward, he could only think of one power within the small world powerful enough to cause so many demon beasts to mobilize at the same time. The cultivator alliance.

But…

Reaching this conclusion only made him feel even more confused over what was happening, as he could simply not understand why the cultivator alliance had decided to attack the devil forest now of all times.

Even if he could now guess that the cultivators of the cultivator alliance had somehow been able to track him, he still couldn’t comprehend why they were seemingly rushing into the devil forest to chase after him even at risk of starting up another war with the demon beasts of the devil forest.

“Are the things I took perhaps more valuable than I originally thought?” Whispering this to himself as he moved through the void, Xuan Hao could not help silently glancing down towards the small bag that he used to store his interspatial rings tucked away inside his flowing robes. Sending a portion of his divine sense into the interspatial rings to check if there was something he might have missed.

However, in the end, he didn’t find anything new that he hadn’t already known about. The only thing he hadn’t had the time to fully look through being the countless scrolls, books and jade slips filled with what should be cultivation techniques and combat techniques gathered by the cultivator alliance over the years. Making him think that there might be something far more valuable than he had initially anticipated within those texts.

Unfortunately, given the current situation he found himself in, he couldn’t look through all those texts for now and would have to wait until he dealt with the lord of the devil forest, something that was of utmost importance. Especially now that the cultivators from the cultivator alliance had willingly lent him a hand in drawing away most of the powerful demon beasts that might have originally posed some trouble when he fought the lord of the devil forest.

This kind of opportunity was one he wouldn’t waste and all he needed to do now was figure out where the lord of the devil forest was, as even upon reaching the deepest part of the devil forest, he found no trace of the so-called lord of the devil forest that in his eyes should have been hidden away at the very core of the devil forest.

Instead, he found himself continuing forward towards the edge of the small world following what looked like a primitive path leading from the core of the devil forest towards the edge of the small world.

Not because he believed the lord of the devil forest was going to be at the end of this primitive forest path, but instead because he had already released his divine sense to sweep through the core of the devil forest and hadn’t found any other traces that might indicate where this lord of the devil forest had gone.

In a way, part of him believed that the lord of the devil forest might have already left the core of the devil forest before his arrival to face off against the cultivators of the cultivator alliance and was currently silently waiting to launch a devastating attack on those cultivators from the cultivator alliance.

The only reason he hadn’t turned around and moved to join this battle being because he feared arriving too early might end up with both sides turning on him.

To avoid that, he decided to follow the simple forest path through the devil forest while silently sensing the battle that was slowly becoming more intense behind him. Waiting for the emergence of the lord of the devil forest. Knowing that the instant this powerful figure joined the battle, it would be difficult to hide. Not to mention, the other party had no reason to hide themselves once they joined the battle against the cultivators from the cultivator alliance.

And so, while silently monitoring the battle playing out at the very edge of the devil forest from afar, Xuan Hao found himself moving closer to the edge of the world following the primitive forest path. Not the slightest bit worried about the distance between himself and the battle at the edge of the devil forest, as with his current comprehension of the Dao of Space, he was confident in being able to reach the battlefield in less than a minute even if he went all the way to the edge of the small world.

Even if the cultivators from the cultivator alliance might be far weaker than the demon beast when the lord of the devil forest joined the battle, he doubted they would lose within such a short time.

Hm? Something is moving up ahead?

But as his divine sense finally touched upon the edge of the small world, he froze for an instant upon sensing something or rather someone moving around at the very edge of the small world.

Of course, he had sensed countless other living beings including demon beasts so far on his short journey towards the edge of the small world, the reason for him freezing for a short instant was because the entity he sensed at the edge of the small world was powerful enough to even make him feel a distinct threat from the other party, something that made all his attention shift away from the battle playing out at the edge of the devil forest before focusing on this entity.

The degree of threat that he felt from this being almost immediately made him associate this being with the lord of the devil forest he had been searching for, as only this powerful demon beast could pose a threat to him within the small world where even the Land Creation Realm demon beasts and cultivators he had encountered so far hadn’t been able to make him feel any real threat. Only the city guardian formation of the cultivator alliance had made him feel a similar level of threat, though it hadn’t exactly made him fearful as the formation had been relatively easy to avoid and without clashing with it, it wasn’t much of a threat.
