Chapter 2155: Ancient Structures
Chapter 2155: Ancient Structures
Slamming directly into the golem using his fists, a frown visibly took shape at the corner of his lips as he felt a strange power surge forth from where he had hit the golem before trying to invade his body, something that it ended up having little success with given how the strange power itself was annihilated almost the second it emerged and attempted to latch onto him.
Still, the strange power caused him to pull out flowing silver, his newly acquired sword. Not daring to recklessly face that strange unknown power dwelling within the golem like he had unknowingly ended up doing when he tested the toughness of this golem earlier.
Swish~
Not wasting a second as he swept his sword downwards in straightforward downwards motion towards the golem that was already starting to get back up to attack him. Pushing his sword intent into the sword that let out a brilliant silver light that in turn fed back into his sword intent and enhanced it in turn. Making him feel for the first time what it was like to use the Dao of the Sword with an actual fitting weapon that could carry this terrifying power and in turn amplify it. Allowing the strength of this single sword strike to far surpass what he would have been capable of unleashing in the past without the assistance of this Saint Grade Sword.
BANG! CRAAAACK-!
And as the sword hit the golem, it didn’t take more than a few seconds before cracks began forming across its body. Showing not just the power of the sword itself but also giving Xuan Hao insight into the specs of this golem. Understanding from just how fast it was cracking apart beneath that single sword that it was indeed a golem that had been created with the single focus of fighting people proficient in the Dao of Space, as outside someone using the Dao of Space, its combat abilities were rather laughable for a golem with land Creation Realm strength.
Whoosh~
Still, a golem of this quality still had a few tricks up its sleeve, as before the sword could cut it in half and shatter its already cracking frame, it shifted space around itself and broke through the spatial seal he had formed around it while launching his attack. Escaping back int the chaotic spatial currents diving up the ancient city center before he could do anything to stop it. Showing off its own terrifying spatial abilities in the process.
The entire movement was so smooth that Xuan Hao himself felt a hint of admiration towards this little golem’s escape techniques. Making him feel like it was something he could learn from, as the quick and smooth spatial manipulation itself was simply something beyond anything he had encountered before. Reaching a level that almost made him certain that the one behind the construction of the golem should be someone that had exceeded the Perfection Realm in the Dao of Space. Meaning that just getting his hands on one of those golems might be enough to serve as the opportunity he needed to reach the Origin Realm in the Dao of Space if there was enough information on the Dao of Space hidden within the symbols, runes and formations that made the golem function.
The thought of this event had even made him consider just lingering around the edges of the small corner of the city he had for himself and waiting for another golem to show up that he could ambush now that he was prepared for them and had a better grasp of their strength.
But in the end, after standing around for a good half minute observing the chaotic spatial currents that had formed a seemingly impenetrable wall that was impossible for him to force his way through with his current comprehension of the Dao of Space without learning the method that those golems seemed to be utilizing to move through the chaotic spatial current, he decided to shift his attention towards one of the ancient buildings behind him. Feeling that exploring those ancient structures would at the very least guarantee some kind of treasure given how he was in a still unexplored part of the ancient city center with no one else around.
At the same time also realizing that if a golem really did pass by in the future, it would patrol the part of the city he found himself in before leaving. Giving him more than enough time to catch it even if he ended up entering one of the ancient structures and attempted to climb to the top of it. After all, from the little knowledge he had learnt about climbing these ancient structures, though an increasingly difficult endeavor, it wasn’t something too difficult to handle. Even for those below the Void Monarch Realm.
The only real difficulty in exploration emerged when one attempted to climb those ancient structures whose height pierced into the chaotic spatial currents above and whose true height remained unknown.
What could be found in those ancient structures was unfortunately not something he had been able to learn much about and he was essentially still mostly clueless about the true danger those towers possessed. The only way to find out was to explore them.
But before that, he decided to first set his sight on one of the smaller ancient structures and get a general grasp over what kind of traps or formations he might run into when attempting to climb one of those taller structures later.
At the end of the day, information learnt through rumors could only be trusted so much compared to real experience.
Because of this, without much hesitation, Xuan Hao soon enough stepped inside the structure he had set his eyes on, a small temple standing only a little over a hundred meters tall.
Large as this might still be under normal circumstances, inside the ancient city center, it was truly considered a small structure….
“This is ridicules! Just how much did that blood sucking leech of a city lord charge us to enter this place!? Yet all the treasures within those easily accessible buildings have already been swept clean by that swindler himself or those seniors who came later!”
And while Xuan Hao began his exploration of the ancient temple, in another part of the ancient city center, a brash looking young man could not stop himself from complaining out loud as he stared at the clean room with nothing inside of it before him. The reason for his anger was obvious from a glance, as the ancient structure he and the three people behind him had worked hard to climb had already been picked clean by others before they had arrived. Rendering their struggle over the past few days to reach the top of this ancient structure, nothing more than a meaningless struggle.
“””…”””
The companions behind him didn’t say anything to stop their raging companion. Feeling the same as he did about this situation.
Not just because they had wasted the past few days for nothing, but also because this wasn’t the first time they had encountered this kind of situation. Instead, it was already the fourth time they had encountered this kind of situation, and it wasn’t entirely wrong to say that they hadn’t managed to get as much as a single bent coin from their exploration of the ancient city core so far. Every single one of the ancient structures they had been confident enough to try and conquer having been picked clean of everything of value by the time they got there.
On the contrary, they had spent all the resources they had saved up over the years for a chance to enter this place, being sucked dry by the city lord of Desolate River City. The rage their companion felt towards the city lord was something every single one of them felt as well. Especially so because the city lord had oversold the opportunities within when selling the idea of striking it rich to everyone.
Leaving was not an option, as they had simply sunk far too much into this attempt at hitting the jackpot and potentially taking that one step forward to reach the Void Monarch Realm, becoming true experts that would be respected wherever they went on the fragmented continent.
“We can only attempt one of those large structures that pierce the chaotic sky above…” In the end, one of the four slowly stepped forward before laying out his suggestion, one that everyone would have originally shot down because of the danger involved but now found themselves unable to refuse given how they needed to make up for the countless resources they had sacrificed for this one opportunity.
Not to mention, they all understood that those tall structures were the true origin of the valuable treasures that the powerful figures came seeking. Danger or not, the valuables within were very real and were unlikely to have been swept clean like these smaller and far less dangerous ancient structures they had been exploring so far.
