Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension

Chapter 1425: 766: Evolution

Chapter 1425: Chapter 766: Evolution

The pink mist hung in mid-air, constantly writhing and churning, as if it wanted to reassemble into its original form.

Zhao Sheng saw this and gently blew on it: Hoo~

Whoosh, a fierce wind suddenly emerged from nowhere, instantly sweeping up all the pink mist, howling as it spread in all directions.

Where the fierce wind passed, the heavens-encompassing steaming clouds rolled and boiled, and in the blink of an eye, it affected a radius of ten thousand miles, causing the entire cave to start undergoing drastic changes.

As time passed, countless primordial cells carrying bloodlines scattered like dandelion seeds, covering every inch of the cave, about to begin an endless competition for survival.

At this moment, the cave had clearly divided into four “layers”: the bottommost layer was the countless Magma Rivers and Lakes covering the ground, above that reaching a thousand feet high was the rain convection layer, above a thousand feet was the dense and unending Burning Cloud Layer, with its uppermost section hosting a vast Thunder Sea, deep within which floated a massive and towering silver-white ring, unmistakably the Residual Immortal Artifact Five Elements Thunder Ring.

To avoid interrupting the evolution process, Zhao Sheng did not hesitate to sacrifice such an Immortal Treasure merely as the energy source for everything present.

When the true evolution began, survival of the fittest and natural selection would be vividly displayed here.

Some primordial cells accidentally fell into the Magma Lake, and the thousands of degrees of high temperature immediately incinerated them completely; some ascended to the Thunder Sea, equally extinguished by the endless lightning, while others fell into the relatively favorable Burning Cloud Layer and convection layer, temporarily surviving by chance, but without the main body’s support, they couldn’t live for long.

Yet no matter how dire the situation, life will always find a way!

To survive, the countless primordial cells containing all of Zhao Sheng’s life imprints rapidly exhibited various stress responses; nearly ten percent of the cells entered a dormant state, growing a shell like fungi on their surface, and then their vitality contracted indefinitely.

Twenty percent of the primordial cells, however, were particularly active, each stimulating their potential and instinctively tapping into the deepest power of their bloodline, showing various delightful changes in a short amount of time.

The remaining roughly seventy percent of the primordial cells were very unfortunate, falling into extremely harsh environments and turning to ashes in an instant.

Seeing the drastic reduction in the number of primordial cells, Zhao Sheng did not hesitate to self-harm again and again, constantly casting out large swathes of pink mist, numbering the primordial cells in trillions.

The vast majority of them perished quickly, yet more and more primordial cells survived, becoming increasingly adapted to the world under instinctive tendencies, even beginning rounds of evolution.

Zhao Sheng watched this unfold, quietly waiting for some results to appear.

At this time, he sat high atop Meteor Mountain, like a supreme being controlling all things in the world, his eyes surging with endless thunder, constantly observing every subtle change within the cave.

The thunder in his eyes was also undergoing endless changes, seemingly following some predetermined law, yet also seemingly nurturing new changes.

The earth, water, wind, fire, cloud, thunder, and even every ripple in the air fell entirely into his eyes.

Under the influence of some kind of power, time seemed to become stagnant and motionless, yet also seemed to be accelerated by thousands of times.

Zhao Sheng felt that not much time had passed, but everything before his eyes seemed to have gone through millions of years, with some parts of the cave turning vibrant with life, almost as if the primeval wilderness had reappeared.

Southwest of the cave, in an area spanning a hundred miles, the land was covered with winding dark red Magma Rivers, with the extremely high temperatures visibly distorting and blurring the air.

Yet in such a harsh environment, hundreds of crimson “earthworms” were rising and falling on the river surface, some red worms wantonly roaming around cheerfully, while others extended their slender bodies resembling silk, devouring the surrounding air voraciously, presenting a curious scene of swallowing wind and air.

Upon closer inspection, these crimson earthworms were uniformly slender, resembling strands of noodles in appearance, but beneath their slender exteriors, their bodies were covered with dense crystalline diamond-shaped Scale Armor, only a small section near the tail lacked such coverage, with sparse hairs sprouting on the surface, seemingly an incomplete transformation.

This was a newly emerging species, the most primitive species born a century ago, with its bloodline origin related to the Primordial Flood Dragon.

Hundreds of miles away from the magma field, there was a cloud mass in the Burning Cloud Layer distinct from its surroundings, with peculiar creatures colored in black and purple flying in and out of it.

These creatures had streamlined bodies, heads as large as water tanks with short and slender bodies behind, resembling magnified “tadpoles.”

These “tadpoles,” known as the Wind Nest Loach, were exceptionally gifted, naturally capable of controlling rain and wind, and inherently belligerent, becoming a dominant force in this world.

Moving up from the Burning Cloud Layer, the vast Thunder Sea also nurtured many beings, among which the dominant species was a group of pure white creatures with four hooves resembling a Qilin, as large as lions and tigers. Seen from a distance, they looked like a group of rambunctious “dogs,” instinctively enjoying chasing after the omnipresent lightning and tormenting other weaker beings.

These “dogs” were named Thunderbolt Dogs, with the name casually bestowed by Zhao Sheng, their bloodline origin deriving from the Thunder Roar Lion.

It was precisely due to this that Zhao Sheng placed such importance on them.

Besides the Fire Qiu, Wind Nest Loach, and Thunderbolt Dogs, there were twelve more kinds of life in the cave.

However, they either had significant defects, or their potential was too low, or they couldn’t reproduce and propagate offspring; with only one individual surviving, they held little significance.

Of course, there were exceptions among the rejects.

Zhao Sheng appeared early above the Five Elements Thunder Ring, quietly observing from ten miles away, where a spherical being with a large head that was invisible to the naked eye was suspended.

This being ignored the pressure of the Immortal Artifact and the surrounding omnipresent thunder, remaining suspended high in the sky, expanding, and contracting slowly as if breathing, resembling an underdeveloped heart.

This creature emitted a faint layer of golden light on its surface, mysterious and tranquil, invisible to the naked eye, untouched by Divine Thought, and impervious to any technique.

It was only through the Original Spirit that one could discern the mystery within!

This Nameless creature could be considered a peculiar being, seemingly lacking a suitable environment for growth, having early on halted its own evolution.

Over the past century, Zhao Sheng had tried everything but to no avail.

And it was precisely derived from that mysterious bloodline.

After multiple experiments, Zhao Sheng confirmed that the mysterious bloodline was indeed the so-called “Innate Origin Blood.”

Perhaps due to the excessively diluted bloodline concentration, it consistently failed to birth “life” truly.

“No good, it’s happening again!”

Zhao Sheng’s expression suddenly changed, and he instantly vanished without a trace.

As soon as he disappeared, a mysterious golden light of no form nor substance swept through, expanding in an instant to reach boundless distances.

Simultaneously, that “meatball” paused abruptly and then vanished into thin air from its spot, its disappearance eerily similar to Zhao Sheng’s own.

In the next moment, Zhao Sheng reappeared at the original location, his hands clasped in front of his chest, with the meatball falling right between his palms, its body expanding and contracting rapidly, as if struggling against some invisible force.
