Chapter 2626: Elite Void Specter(2)

Chapter 2626: Elite Void Specter(2)

"I apologize in advance if this sounds rude, but it’s not something that you can learn through an explanation, so I’ll save my breath," Yuan said a moment later.

"What?!" The captain cried out loud, unable to believe her ears.

"Surely, a brief explanation wouldn’t hurt," Captain Chen urged, as he was also interested in Yuan’s powers.

After all, since he was going to die, they might as well learn his secrets before then.

"It’s a family secret," Yuan calmly replied.

Then, without waiting for them, immediately started heading deeper into the cave.

’This little bastard! I want to strangle him to death right now!’

’That would definitely make things a lot easier.’

’Calm down. You know he has to die an ’accidental’ death.’

The Scorpion Squad spoke to each other using voice transmission as they continued to follow Yuan.

’I know that, but can’t we make it look like an accident? Instead of waiting for him to make a mistake, one of us could "accidentally" bump into him during a fight,’ Captain Dung suggested.

’The system isn’t stupid. It can sense your killing intent, even if you try to disguise it as an accident,’ Captain Chen replied.

’If it can detect our killing intent that easily, then wouldn’t it still hold us responsible if he dies later, even if we never lay a hand on him?’

’Right? We’re technically luring him to his death right now.’

’The system isn’t that powerful.’

’What if we tie him up and move as far away as possible?’

Captain Chen sighed, ’Do you really think nobody has tried that before? If it was so simple, we wouldn’t be doing this right now!’

Soon, Yuan reached another fork in the tunnel, but this time, three separate paths stretched out before him.

However, rather than choosing one at random, Yuan extended his senses as far as possible, searching for whichever path carried the strongest aura.

Instead of avoiding danger, he deliberately sought out the most dangerous route. Not only would stronger Void Specters benefit his cultivation, but he also wanted to give the Scorpion Squad a taste of their own medicine.

Although the Scorpion Squad had done an excellent job concealing their killing intent, they slipped up during Yuan’s battle with the Elite Void Specter and allowed a trace of it to leak out.

Naturally, Yuan did not fail to notice it.

Moreover, even though Yuan was almost certain that they had been sent by General Gu to kill him, there remained a minuscule possibility that this wasn’t the case... until just now, that was.

’A-Another Elite Void Specter?! He’s encountered two Elite Void Specters in a row!’

The Scorpion Squad was baffled by Yuan’s misfortune.

But since they’ve already witnessed Yuan defeat one in the blink of an eye, they didn’t have any hope that he would fall to this one.

Sure enough, Yuan ended the fight in the blink of an eye, using the same technique he’d used before.

’Just what sort of technique is that?’ asked one of the captains, as they grasped a slight glimpse of it this time.

’I don’t know, but he’s condensed his Limitless on his hand...’

The soldiers secretly tried to replicate Yuan’s technique, and while they managed to condense their Limitless and even form a shape with it, it was nowhere near as refined or compressed as his. The difference was like comparing a solid steel blade to one made of jello.

Yuan noticed what they were doing and smiled inwardly, ’Not bad. If only they could use Supreme Sword Aura.’

Indeed, he had imbued his Supreme Sword Aura with Limitless, strengthening it multiple times over.

He also used the same technique to defeat the Void Guardians. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to defeat them in time before the other soldiers caught up with him.

Some time later, Yuan cleared several more paths. Unfortunately, not every path had an Elite Void Specter, and besides the first two, he only encountered ordinary Void Specters. Though even the ordinary ones were more powerful than the ones outside the tunnel.

"What do you think?" Yuan suddenly turned around to face the Scorpion Squad.

"What do you mean?"

"Are you satisfied with my capabilities so far?"

"Y-yes..." Captain Chen nodded with a stiff smile.

"Is that so? Well, I am just getting started, so try not to be too surprised later."

A day later, a cold smile crept across Yuan’s face when he sensed an impressive aura emanating from one of the paths. Since he was walking ahead of the Scorpion Squad, none of them noticed his expression.

Not long after choosing that route, Yuan encountered not one... not two... or three... but four Elite Void Specters!

"T-This is—!" The Scorpion Squad visibly flinched when they saw this.

"Four of them, huh? As confident as I am in my abilities, I don’t think I can handle more than two at once, so I’ll leave the other two to you guys," Yuan said.

Captain Chen’s eyes widened at Yuan’s words, and he hastily said, "You’re still thinking of fighting in this situation?! That’s insane! No! We will go back and take another path!"

Even though this was the perfect opportunity to get rid of Yuan, there was no way they could deal with the aftermath. After all, once the Elite Void Specters killed Yuan, they would inevitably turn their attention to the Scorpion Squad next.

However, Yuan then said, "Surely, you’re saying that just to mess with me. They’re not that difficult to fight, so there’s no way the five of you cannot handle two of them. Don’t worry, I’ll help out as soon as I defeat my targets."

"Yo—"

Captain Chen opened his mouth, but before he could even utter a complete word, Yuan rushed into the detection range of the Elite Void Specters, immediately drawing their attention.

"This fucking suicidal maniac is going to drag us down with him!" Captain Dung cursed out loud, his face flushed with anger as they immediately prepared for battle.
