Chapter 2669: Interrogating the Attacker

Chapter 2669: Interrogating the Attacker

"N-No! Something must have gone wrong, and the poison didn’t apply properly!" The attacker muttered in disbelief. "Let’s see if you’ll survive this!"

The attacker shouted as he swung his sword,

Yuan didn’t react and calmly stood still as the sword flew toward his neck, and a moment later, the sword decapitated him, sending his head spinning in the air before falling to the ground with a soft thud.

The attacker burst out laughing, "Hahaha! Bastard gave me a good scare! But he definitely won’t be—"

The attacker halted his sentence as he choked on his own words, his eyes widening with shock and disbelief as Yuan’s headless body moved with smooth and deliberate movements, bending down to pick up his own severed head like he was picking up a fallen hat.

Then, Yuan attached his own head back onto his neck, and the massive cut that split them began to regenerate, swiftly healing all damage until there wasn’t even the slightest scar.

"You’ll need to do more than sever my head to kill me," Yuan calmly said, breaking the silence.

"Y-Y-You fucking monster!" The attacker dropped his sword and turned to flee, completely forgetting that they were at a dead end and that there was nowhere to run.

"Why are you running? You haven’t finished your mission yet."

Yuan slowly approached the attacker with a cold grin.

"G-Get away from me!" The attacker turned around and shouted.

"Huh?"

His terrified expression immediately became one full of confusion as Yuan’s figure had suddenly vanished like a ghost.

"Did he leave?" he muttered aloud.

"Before I acquire what I want to know? Not a chance."

Yuan’s voice suddenly resounded beside him, causing the attacker to turn to his right. However, the moment he caught a glimpse of Yuan’s cold expression, he felt a hand clamp around his neck like the talons of an eagle.

"Let’s go somewhere more quiet, shall we?"

Before the attacker could even comprehend the situation, the world around him abruptly turned pitch-black, as though he had been plunged into the deepest depths of the abyss.

"First question: who are you working for?" Yuan asked.

However, the attacker did not response, and he just realized where they were.

"T-This is the void?! Impossible! How can you use void control in the city?!"

"Wrong answer."

Yuan spoke coldly before partially withdrawing his protection from the man.

The next moment, the man screamed in agony as the void assaulted his right foot, devouring it until nothing remained.

But Yuan wasn’t done. He continued withdrawing more and more of his protection, allowing the void to keep devouring the man so that he would feel every moment of it. Eventually, his entire right leg was gone.

"Still don’t feel like answering? Let’s work on the next leg—"

"W-W-Wait! I will answer! I work for the Angry Shadows!"

"Angry Shadows? What’s that?"

"That’s..."

When the man showed even the slightest hesitation, Yuan said nothing and removed the protection from the man’s other foot, letting the void consume it.

"Ahhh!" the man screamed in agony before hurriedly answering, "The Angry Shadows are a group of professional assassins who specialize in killing people for money and valuables! We mainly operate within the Union!"

"Who hired you?" Yuan asked, despite already knowing the answer.

"I-I don’t know! Our clients’ privacy is our top priority, so we never ask for their identities! The only thing that matters is whether they can pay for the job!"

Yuan reached into the man’s pocket, retrieved a device, and asked, "Is this how you contact the client?"

"Yes!"

Yuan tried to access it, but nothing happened.

"The device is encrypted! Only I can unlock it!"

Although Yuan could easily let the man access it for him, he decided to do something else.

’This device is protected by a formation... a level 6 formation... should be doable.’

He spent several minutes studying the formation hidden within the device before attempting to crack it.

After another three minutes, Yuan successfully cracked the formation, allowing him to access the device.

"What an ugly photo. Couldn’t you have taken a better one?" Yuan shook his head after seeing the photo of his face that the man had sent to confirm his death.

"H-How?!" The man exclaimed in disbelief.

"Who gave you permission to ask questions?" Yuan coldly sneered before letting the void consume a few more inches of his leg.

After putting away the device, Yuan asked, "Now then... where is your hideout located?"

"I-I can’t tell you that! I’ll die!"

Yuan frowned and said, "And you think you won’t die to me if you don’t answer?"

"Ahhh!"

Moments later, the man had his second leg completely devoured by the void.

"Still not answering?"

Yuan started letting the void consume the man’s right hand.

"I-I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you!" The man screamed when half of his right arm was consumed.

"Our hideout is located at—"

Before the man could finish revealing the location, an intense pain interrupted him as the void began devouring his right arm again.

"W-Why?!"

The man asked when it stopped a few moments later.

"If you dare to try and lie to me again, I’ll make sure you stay in here for an eternity."

The man’s already pale complexion was drained of what little color remained.

’How can he tell that I was going to lie?!’ he cried inwardly.

"Why aren’t you speaking? Did you fall asleep? Want me to wake you up a little?"

"N-No! I am awake! And our hideout is at the Happy Pub in the Western District!"

"Happy Pub in the Western District, huh?" Yuan repeated. "See? That wasn’t so difficult, was it?"

"Will you spare me now?" the man asked in a weak voice.

Yuan looked at him with a puzzled face.

"Spare you? Did I say that I’d let you live?"

"W-What?" The man stared at Yuan in stunned disbelief.

Without another word, Yuan left the void. The moment he did, the man left behind was completely devoured by it.
