Chapter 1276: Battle of Myths (5)
Chapter 1276: Battle of Myths (5)
Jacob’s hollow eye sockets burned brighter as the golden-white flames within them quietly expanded as the world before him instantly transformed under the Judgment Gaze.
The chaotic battlefield disappeared, and what remained was an endless ocean of colors.
Every Law possessed its own spectrum; the Myth of Inferno’s scarlet authority burned like countless crimson streams woven with blazing gold. Myth of Thunder’s power crackled as azure currents mixed with violent violet particles.
The Myth of Dark Blaze’s infernal flames resembled an endless black sea filled with tiny silver specks. The Myth of Venom’s domain flowed as emerald rivers, carrying dense, poisonous yellow grains.
The Myth of Alchemy appeared as countless metallic constellations revolving in perfect geometric order, and even the Death Authority of the fifteen Dukes was no longer merely gray.
Jacob finally noticed that every Duke’s authority was actually composed of countless different colors buried beneath an overwhelming layer of death. Yet surrounding every one of those colors was the same strange gray spectrum that represented flaws.
But that wasn’t what caught his attention.
“…Hm?” His gaze slowly shifted downward.
The entire Undead Skyfall Canyons was glowing, not brightly, but subtly as countless profound particles floated through the endless canyons. Unlike ordinary elemental particles or Law fluctuations, these particles carried no attribute Jacob had ever witnessed before.
In fact, some particles were pale silver, some deep gray, some faint crimson, and some nearly transparent, but they flowed through every mountain, every canyon, and the entire battlefield like invisible currents beneath reality itself.
The strange thing was they were moving, every single one of them, and not randomly either, as they were converging.
The next moment, his flaming eyes compressed, ‘They’re…flowing?’
If Jacob had just gotten the Judgment Gaze, he would’ve thought it was natural, but he had been seeing through the Judgment Gaze for a very long time, and now he could detect these kinds of anomalies like breathing foul air.
Just as Jacob followed one stream and found it drifted upward from an advancing army of skeletal warriors, another stream rose from a Corpse Giant, another from a Lich, and another from a Death Knight.
Even the Quasi-Myth Dukes of Death radiated countless denser particles that silently escaped from their bodies without any of them noticing. Those streams continued moving far away into the deeper regions of the Undead Skyfall.
Jacob immediately looked toward the Mythical Coalition, and the result was identical. Every living being, whether on the battlefield or inside the warships, even the five Quasi-Myths fighting in the skies, released the same profound particles, although theirs were incomparably denser.
Jacob was intrigued yet slightly uneasy because he couldn’t identify those colors, and his Eyes of Judge had never shown him anything similar.
When he previously analyzed treasures, medicine, poisons, formations, or Laws, the colors always represented their true nature, but these colors were completely different, and he could not determine whether they were beneficial or harmful.
Yet, his instincts sensed danger as his Judgment Gaze had never shown meaningless information. If those particles existed, then they represented some hidden truth.
Jacob’s vision immediately traced their path, and millions upon millions of microscopic streams stretched throughout the endless canyons like invisible rivers.
The farther they traveled, the denser they became, and eventually every stream pointed toward only one direction. The deepest part of the Undead Skyfall.
Jacob’s expression slowly turned solemn. ‘Everything…is connected down there, and if I’m not wrong, that God of Hollow Undead is also sealed somewhere inside. Is he scheming something?’
He shifted his gaze once more, and this time, he looked beyond the battlefield, beyond the charging undead, and beyond the endless armies; toward the forbidden depths no undead dared approach.
The profound particles became even denser there, almost tangible like mist, and every single current descended further into the misty canyons, toward something hidden.
‘I still can’t see what it is; my Eyes aren’t strong enough.’ Jacob concluded.
After all, the restrictions blanketing that region distorted even the color spectrum itself, and reality there resembled a shattered mirror, and every profound particle entered those distortions before disappearing completely, so Jacob couldn’t follow them any farther.
Lastly, his current Eyes of Judge simply weren’t powerful enough. Just as he once couldn’t understand the complete meaning behind rank-colored particles until years of experimentation gradually revealed fragments of their truth, these profound spectrums remained completely foreign and might not be what they seemed.
Yet, the more the Judgment Gaze acted like this, the stronger the uneasiness within him became. It wasn’t because he had discovered something, but he couldn’t. Whatever lay beneath those distortions was deliberately concealed even from the Eyes of Judge.
Jacob slowly lowered his bow as his eyes sharpened, ‘A sealed God and now this. Too many coincidences.’
Jacob’s greatest advantage had always been information, and he refused to remain blind while something unknown unfolded beneath his feet, especially when every instinct he possessed warned him that time was running out.
At that moment, the skeletal Executioner suddenly descended, and its twin crescent blades tore through space. The Nightmare Knight’s gray spear followed from another direction. The Three-Headed Death Python unleashed another ocean of corpse venom.
Jacob finally glanced at them coldly, as if he had made his final decision. The next moment, three simultaneous attacks struck, yet they struck nothing.
“…?”
The Executioner’s blades carved through empty space. The Nightmare Knight charged straight past. Even the venom dispersed without touching anyone.
The three Dukes of Death froze.
“…Where?” The Death Python’s three skulls scanned every direction.
“…Hidden again?” The Nightmare Knight immediately raised its spear.
Without hesitation, the three Dukes of Death unleashed countless battlefield spells like gray crescents, death spears, and corpse venoms. They blanketed hundreds of kilometers.
‘BOOOOOOOOOOM!!’
Space shattered repeatedly, and entire mountains disappeared beneath the bombardment, but still there was nothing. No arrows, no aura or fluctuations, and not even signs of life or death.
The Myth of Black Archer had vanished completely!
Even the three Quasi-Myth Dukes could no longer detect the slightest trace of him.
“…Dead?”
“…Impossible.”
“…He escaped.”
None of them understood, yet none dared believe a Quasi-Myth could disappear without leaving behind even the faintest fluctuation.
Far away, the Myth of Inferno noticed first as his enormous Fire Wyvern body blasted another Duke away before his burning eyes swept across Jacob’s battlefield.
“…Black Archer?” He tried to communicate through their secret channel, but got no response.
Only three clueless yet free Dukes of Death remained.
Even the Myth of Thunder’s laughter stopped for a brief instant, “…Where did he go?!”
The Myth of Alchemy’s expression changed dramatically.
“He wouldn’t flee…” His voice immediately became solemn, “…unless he found something worse.”
Those words instantly chilled the remaining Quasi-Myths, but before they could think further, the three liberated Dukes of Death had already turned, and their hollow eyes burned with savage excitement.
Without another word, they charged toward the ongoing battles.
‘BOOOOOOOOOOM!!’
Now, fifteen became eighteen, and the pressure instantly multiplied. The Mythical Coalition’s already fragile balance collapsed another step closer toward destruction!
—
Meanwhile, far away from every battlefield and away from every clash of Quasi-Myths, Jacob silently appeared behind the endless undead legions, and not a single undead noticed him.
He stood precisely at the invisible boundary he had previously observed, and beyond this point the world became strangely quiet.
Jacob had already noticed that every undead seemed to be instinctively avoiding crossing it. Even those rushing toward the battlefield unconsciously diverted around the region, as none of them entered or guarded it.
It was as though something buried deep within their instincts commanded absolute avoidance.
Jacob’s golden-white flames quietly flickered, and the profound-colored spectrums became noticeably denser here as they flowed like enormous rivers overhead, with every strand disappearing into the silent depths ahead.
Without hesitation, Jacob crossed the invisible boundary, and the instant he stepped beyond it, the deafening battlefield behind him seemed to vanish from existence!
