Cursed Immortality

Chapter 999: Trapping a Killer! (3)

Chapter 999: Trapping a Killer! (3)

The hidden chamber inside the concealment barrier trembled.

The ghostly voice had echoed as if whispered by death itself—and before Constant Baron-5 or Baron-9 could react, the barrier rippled like disturbed water.

A cloaked figure had already stepped through.

It was Jacob.

He stood silently at the edge of their formation, relaxed, his aura nonexistent. There was no pressure, and yet Constant Baron-9 screamed and stumbled backward, her face behind the hood pale as bone. "H-how did he breach the Concealment Array?! That was a legendary-grade veil!"

"How?!" Constant Baron-5 barked. Earth energy coiled around his arms like bands of ancient stone, trembling slightly as if even the planet beneath them feared the intruder.

A flick of red light pulsed behind them.

The clone of Constant Baron-1 stepped forward, blood flowing in lines across its pale skin like living veins forming strange tattoos. "You might your excellency be." His voice was calm, resonant with a hint of unease, "How about letting us go?"

They had already witnessed what happened to Constant Baron-101, and given how easily Jacob found them and breached their array, they knew this person was even more powerful.

A thought surfaced in their mind, which made them even more horrified.

’A Quasi-Myth!’

Only this existence can manhandle a legendary king like Jacob did. Although they were confused about how Constant Baron-0 was able to seek help from such a figure, they knew it wasn’t time to mull over it.

If this person were really a Quasi-Myth, then they had to escape no matter what because Quasi-Myths were hidden entities with little information.

Even the ATLAS didn’t have one because the information about Quasi-Myth Rank and how to reach it was the most expensive thing in the Timeless Archives. With the political situation, even Constant Baron-0 didn’t want to spend her Timeless Sand on it because she’d be left vulnerable, and the same goes for Constant Baron-1 and the others.

The next moment, Jacob didn’t reply. He tilted his head, then raised a single hand.

The constants were alarmed, and they knew this person was not going to talk.

Constant Baron-1 roared, "You two provide suppression. I’ll drain his life dry."

The three Barons didn’t wait any longer. They struck together, and the Noble Assassins didn’t need any input, for they moved the moment those Constants charged forward!

Constant Baron-5 stomped, invoking the First Concept of Earth Law— Foundation Tremor. The terrain beneath Jacob warped into a complex seal pattern that hardened instantly, turning the ground into an indestructible cage of gravity-forged stone. Jacob’s lower body vanished within it.

Constant Baron-9 spread her arms and howled. Darkness oozed from her like smoke, blotting out all light as the First Concept of Dark Law—Obscurity — formed a dome, severing space within. She vanished inside it, a phantom within shadows.

At the exact moment, the clone of Constant Baron-1 launched forward, the air around him howling as Blood Law activated. Red sigils spun around his fists — the First Concept of Blood Law—Vital Extraction — forming crimson claws meant to tear away a target’s blood vitality.

All of it happened in a single breath.

And then—Everything froze.

The Blood Clone’s claws stopped mid-strike. The shadows around Baron-9 went rigid. The stone sealing Jacob cracked—no, peeled away—like bark from rotted wood.

A low hum echoed—a wheel formed behind Jacob once more, vast and slow-turning — the Life Bane Wheel.

"Life Devour!"

Those two words, soft and emotionless, did all Jacob spoke.

The Obscurity of Dark Law was shattered. Light returned.

Baron-9 was already screaming. Pitch-black mist crawled up her limbs like corruption as the wheel’s dark sector aligned with her. She tried to flee, activate a talisman, even bite her tongue to teleport—nothing worked.

With a flick of his skeletal finger, Jacob condemned her. Baron-9 imploded into nothingness. Not a drop of blood. Not a sound. Just gone.

The Blood Clone roared and struck with both claws, but Jacob simply turned his head. The Law of Blood was something that Jacob was afraid of least, and with all his recent experiments, his Life Bane Wheel had progressed tremendously.

’Life Bane Wheel, Reflection!’

The wheel suddenly turned into a mirror of blood before him, and the clone’s own claws stabbed into it. A second later, those claws reappeared, stabbing into the clone’s own back from behind.

"What?!"

The clone convulsed as its own Vital Extraction technique drained its life force.

Jacob raised his hand again, and the Life Bane Wheel shimmered again, this time showing its purple sector, Spectral Despair!

The clone was instantly sucked into before split in half, cleaved through body and soul, vanished into the Spectral Despair.

Constant Baron-5 roared. "I won’t die like a rat!"

The ground beneath Jacob exploded, dozens of stone spears lancing upward, powered by the full might of the Foundation Tremor.

Jacob was caught in the center—yet the spears halted inches away from his robe, vibrating violently. He lifted his hand again, and the entire battlefield tilted.

The Earth cracked.

Baron-5 was suddenly forced to his knees—his own law turning on him as if rejecting its master. The earth beneath him became mud, then ash.

"Earth Law...I know that, too."

Baron-5 howled as the ground collapsed, dragging him into a pitch-black wheel that had opened beneath him like a hungry mouth.

"Forgive me! I didn’t know—"

Crack!

His skull split in two as the wheel turned once more, the purple glowing now and then, and he, too, vanished.

Only silence remained in the concealment chamber. The projection screens shattered into fragments, and the concealment barrier flickered and died.

Jacob stood alone. Not a scratch on him. Not a wisp of aura. As if he had never fought at all. This resulted from his progress with the twelve laws and an Immortal Chapter!

At some point, those eight Noble Assassins suddenly seemed to have been caught in a cage and were moving extremely slowly. He turned toward them and walked over.

One after another, those Noble Assassins vanished into his Infinite Space.

’I need to digest them. As long as I can devour them, my Jinx Core will be ranked up...as for those three...’ With such thoughts, Jacob vanished without a ripple—like a phantom!
