Chapter 719: Chapter 76: Such a Reunion (Part 2)
Almost simultaneously, Yezi and his group as well as Wang Fenglei and his companions arrived at the location of the ginseng spiritual vein.
"!!" All four of them, including Xiao Xian and Zhou Ziang, were stunned on the spot.
Yezi stared dumbfounded at the young woman some ten meters away in front of him.
He was panting, his face slightly reddened due to excessive running, his chest heaving up and down.
He couldn’t hear the calls from Xu Lan Ya behind him at all, nor could he hear the whistling of the snow wind or the squeaking of the bragging Little Pig beside him.
How long had it been? A year or two years, over seven hundred days.
Before meeting Xiao Xian, Yezi had imagined countless times the scene when they would meet again. He thought about scolding her fiercely, complaining that after she went to Beijing, she never contacted him again.
But soon he found excuses for Xiao Xian: the phones in the mountains were out of reach, and she had written him a letter, hadn’t she?
Later on, he was the one who left Dongnan Miao Village and then went to Beijing, after which they completely lost contact.
And then there was that round of "guidance" from Xiao Xian’s aunt and uncle.
The young woman in front was taller than Xiao Xian and had slimmed down a bit since she left Ge Village.
Damn it, hadn’t she eaten properly, growing taller but not putting on weight? Could it be that she was imitating those city women who go on diets?
None of that mattered anymore.
Yezi took a few steps forward. The only thing he wanted to do right now was to hold Xiao Xian in his arms, hold her tight, scold her fiercely, and then never let go.
If he was unsure about his feelings for Xiao Xian during the search, the moment he saw her again, Yezi understood his feelings.
And what confirmed his feelings wasn’t something else, but the man standing by Xiao Xian’s side, intimately whispering something to her.
Yezi always had a good memory, and Zhou Ziang’s was even better.
When they heard footsteps from both sides, Zhou Ziang noticed several familiar faces appeared, including one he had met briefly.
That young man he had encountered in a Beijing mall had a gleam in his eyes and an excited expression upon seeing them. After a short daze, he foolishly stared at Xiao Xian beside him.
Such a gaze made Zhou Ziang quite dissatisfied, although he couldn’t pinpoint exactly why for the moment.
Without thinking, before Xiao Xian could turn to look at the newcomer, he pulled her behind himself, blocking her thoroughly, and then gave Yezi a provocative look.
"Ziang, how could you be here, and with her?" Aisha was in a panic; she knew Zhou Ziang was in China.
However, her mother had requested her not to tell anyone about her trip to China, so she refrained from contacting him.
To think that she would encounter Zhou Ziang in this rarely-trodden Snow Gully, and also see that female student she hated.
Xiao Xian’s view was blocked by Zhou Ziang, and she only saw Wang Fenglei and Aisha coming from the other direction. Just seeing this pair was enough to make her feel uneasy.
"Why are they here?" Xiao Xian tugged at Zhou Ziang’s hand, and with this pull, she saw Xu Lan Ya and Yezi beside her.
Yezi had changed a lot in the past two years. He had grown taller and sturdier, almost entirely different from the youth of Ge Village.
Xiao Xian felt he looked familiar but was hesitant in her heart. Just as she was about to speak, Zhou Ziang’s broad shoulders blocked her again.
"I think I know that person, move aside, I want to see more clearly," Xiao Xian whispered. Zhou Ziang grunted softly, pretending not to hear.
After the surprise, Yezi regained his senses. He silently called back Little Pig, who was flapping eagerly to greet her.
"Don’t make a noise, why is Xiao Xian here? And who is the man next to her, I remember seeing him at the mall last time. Huang Tengchong was very respectful in greeting him then, if I remember correctly, he’s from the same company as Aisha, definitely not a good person. Xiao Xian better not be tricked by a pretty boy." Yezi still retained some clarity. He had only just managed to blend in with Xu Lan Ya’s group and had not yet fully gained their trust, nor had he figured out why Xiao Xian was here, so he couldn’t acknowledge her yet.
Xiao Xian asked again, and Zhou Ziang barely responded, "Now is not the time to recognize acquaintances." Zhou Ziang’s reply had a hint of gunpowder, and with a slight shake of his hand, he unfortunately placed his injured hand in front of Xiao Xian, also blocking her attempt to peer forward.
What’s with this guy, as if he had eaten gunpowder? Xiao Xian mumbled to herself.
At this moment, everyone had lost most of their spiritual power, and the sight of Xiao Xian and Zhou Ziang whispering closely appeared to the others as sweet nothings exchanged between lovers.
Xu Lan Ya looked thoughtfully at the man in front of Xiao Xian, silently commending him in her mind.
The freshman, though not particularly strong or good-looking, seemed to have a good eye for men. Could it be that men now prefer the plain Jane type of women?
But the man did look refined and handsome; at first glance, he didn’t seem useful. It seemed unlikely he could stop their group from taking the ginseng. Yezi, however, looked more reassuring.
Suppressing the surge of anger in his heart, Yezi shouted loudly, "Who are you? We found the ginseng spiritual vein first, leave immediately."
He was also anxious in his heart. The recent blocking by the other party let him realize that the man with Xiao Xian indeed appeared useless and also injured, which put Xiao Xian in a disadvantageous situation. The only solution was to get her to leave quickly.
Eh, Xiao Xian couldn’t help but peek out. Her mouth opened as if to shout out Yezi’s name but then saw him make a quick hand gesture.
That gesture was a code they had used back in Ge Village when they skipped class to play in the mountains and were caught by Yezi’s mother.
It meant, "Don’t say anything, let me handle it." The situation was very unfavorable for them.
Xiao Xian quickly understood and stayed silent.
"You two sure are lucky, even a bottomless gully can’t stop you. Having just experienced a matter of life and death, you should know the value of life. This ginseng vein was first discovered by me, you would do well to leave early," Wang Fenglei, being the eldest there, naturally spoke first.
"That’s not necessarily so," Zhou Ziang said indifferently. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian () to vote for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets.
