Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1160: Most Troublesome Curse

Chapter 1160: Most Troublesome Curse

Alba continued to look at the Deleter on the floor, and the staff that laid there on the ground. She was glad that the whole thing was finally over, that he had finally perished. However, when she looked at the staff, she also noticed something, that the crystal that was placed on the very top, it had completely shattered.

Not just that, but strangely, it almost looked like the Deleter was missing an eye, with almost glitter mixed in with blood that was flowing from it.

'Did he have some type of last resort? To destroy everything that he had, so that we wouldn't get our hands on it?' Alba thought. 'What an interesting will, usually in death people don't think about those things, but he must have really not wanted us to get our hands on these items.'

Alba's thinking was right. He would never let the warriors get stronger with the creations he had. Which was why before he took his last breath, he had destroyed everything that they could use, he had always made countermeasures for if these things were ever to happen.

At least he could live somewhat in peace after that.

The other Crimson Crane members had finally reached Alba's side. No longer being pushed back, they were now right next to her, and they too were looking at the body on the floor.

"It's hard to imagine that all of this chaos was created by one person," Reno said. "These Deleters, they have just as much power as a top Clan head."

"I would say more," Lily answered. "This whole situation is a complete mess. Honestly, it might have not felt like it, but all of us have gotten incredibly strong compared to when we fought against the Behemoth Clan. Yet this fight was incredibly hard for us, that's maybe why we can't see the strength or improvement too much.

"These Deleters, if they had attacked a long time ago. Had tried to take over all of the Demonic Faction, they would have succeeded in eliminating us all."

It made them question why they hadn't done such a thing, but Alba had the answer.

"It was the Clan heads that were protecting us. If Sha Mo, and Belil were still alive, it would have been tough for them all," Alba answered. "In a crisis, like that of now, even though everyone is from a different clan, they put their differences aside to fight a common enemy. The same thing would have happened if they attacked back then."

"Haha, well it all worked out well, and Alba I could feel your Qi from all the way back there! What impressive weapons!" Kizer said with a joyous smile. A little upset that his weapon wasn't the one that had killed the Deleter.

Still he couldn't believe how fast she was able to move in those last moments.

"You used the effects of your system right?" Reno asked.

Alba nodded as she placed her finger in her right ear, and started to shake it about.

"The curse on your weapon…what is it, what's happened?" Reno asked.

Reno was one that was more cautious compared to others. Always paying attention to each of the members, and he could tell that Alba had been reluctant to use the weapon's power. Which could only mean one thing in his mind, the Curse was incredibly powerful.

Alba soon turned to look at the others as she put on a smile, but one that was clearly forced.

"My curse, each time I use its power it can double my strength, but I lose something in return. That's it, the curse is quite simple, and it appears I know what I've lost."

Judging by the smile, Reno knew it was going to be a painful answer, and the rest of the members seemed to know as well, since they didn't ask further.

"It appears I can no longer hear out of my left ear. All hearing has completely gone, and vanished," Alba said.

They were wondering how Alba could say that with such a smile, and the way she mentioned it they could tell that it was permanent as well. All of a warrior's senses were important in battle. They used them to predict attacks. They were in a heightened state in the middle of a fight, to be able to get an edge on the other.

Losing one side of one's hearing, it was quite the big deterrent when it came to fighting.

"You guys don't look at me like that, I can still hear you all," Alba said. "I have my other ear, and can hear fine. Look it could have been worse, I could have lost my eyesight or something like that. You know, part of being a warrior is to adapt to the situation. I will live, and continue to get stronger.

"I would rather lose my hearing any day, than to lose any of you guys. What's done is done."

When Alba put it like that, and seeing how strong she was. If they worried about her, it would only be unfair to her. What they didn't realize was Alba was hiding something else, a deep worry in the back of her mind.

She hadn't just used one effect of the sword, she had used two, and according to the Curse she would have had to have lost two things, yet her hearing in one ear was the only thing she knew of. It was gnawing on the back of her mind, what was it that could have been the second thing she lost.

It was playing on her constantly, as she tried everything to figure out what it was, and yet she still was unable to, she would have to live her life wondering what she had lost, and in a way, this was the most scariest part of the Curse.

With the Deleter having been defeated, the golems no longer appeared from the fissures. The fighting all around was coming to a stop. Zon, Anna, Beatrix, Lince and all of the Demonic Clan leaders could now let up.

However, there was still one fight that was going off in the distance that they could see, and it was the fight with the Dark Magus.
