Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1332: Special Magic (Part 2)

Chapter 1332: Special Magic (Part 2)

There were very few who would be able to recognize the type of magic Piba was using. Unless they had witnessed it firsthand or Piba had told them outright, it remained a mystery.

But Raze, having lived the long life he had as a professor, had seen it before. In fact, he had seen it several times.

’Raze still hasn’t given me the thumbs up. Does that mean I need to show even more of my powers?’ Dame thought anxiously.

Rather than focusing on what his opponent had just done, Dame’s mind was still fixed on one thing, getting through.

After all, not for a second did he believe he would actually lose the fight, not if he used everything he had.

Piba, however, had different plans. The glow surrounding his body continued to shimmer, and then, with a swift motion, he started swinging his hands outward.

It was a move wind mages often used, sending wind slashes cutting through the air. But just like the glow enveloping Piba, these slashes gleamed brightly as they raced toward Dame.

Seeing this, Dame quickly responded. He fired flames from his gloves to intercept the attack.

But as the fire struck Piba’s enhanced wind slashes, it had no effect. The flames were extinguished instantly, and the wind attacks continued to barrel toward him.

’His attacks... they’re not stronger than mine, and I even used Qi in that strike,’ Dame thought, his brow furrowed.

In a flash, Dame pushed himself off the ground with a powerful kick, shifting his body to the side in one fluid motion, making it appear as if he was using wind magic himself.

He successfully dodged two of the strikes. But then, two more came at him from both sides. It was too late to avoid them, not without drawing suspicion.

"Arghhh, I’ll just have to grab them!" Dame thought, determination flashing in his eyes.

Igniting his gloves once more, this time the flames fully surrounded his hands. With a surge of Qi, Dame reached out and grabbed the two sharp wind attacks.

The intense heat from his gloves burned through the wind-enhanced strikes until they finally shattered, disintegrating into nothing.

"Oh, he must have quite the intense mana to break the attack like that," Redrick remarked.

"Indeed," another professor nodded. "Especially since Piba is now using his special affinity, Moon Magic."

Many of the students still watching had no idea what was happening, even after seeing the strange magic. They whispered among themselves, trying to guess what kind of power this truly was.

"Do you know what his affinity is, Raze?" Chiba asked eagerly, as if ready to explain everything herself. Finally, she thought, there was something she might know that he didn’t.

"Yes. That’s Moon Magic," Raze replied calmly. "It’s a special affinity, though it happens to be one of the most common among them. Because of that, there’s quite a lot of research that’s been done on it.

"Moon Magic is an enhancer. You see, combining magic between different elements is often dangerous. If the ratio isn’t right or the combination is unstable, it can lead to disastrous consequences for the mage.

"Even testing such things is a dangerous game. But if someone manages to succeed, the resulting spells can become incredibly powerful.

"However, there’s an exception to this rule, and that’s Moon Magic. It’s an affinity that mixes naturally with any type of magic, enhancing its strength significantly.

"It grants each element an additional boost in power. That’s why mages with Moon Magic often become the cornerstone of their guilds. They’re seen as valuable assets and essential support.

"And more importantly, their magic can be used on other mages as well, making them highly sought after. Even spells using Moon Magic alone serve as powerful buffs."

Chiba was left with her mouth hanging open, speechless. She had been fully prepared to explain this to the others, but Raze had already said it all. Worse, he’d even explained more than she had intended to.

Once again, she’d learned something new from him.

"That’s right, that’s right!" Chiba said quickly, trying to recover. "And with it, it looks like your friend will finally lose this match."

The strength of Moon Magic was clear. Piba had demonstrated it with both a simple wind spell and a defensive spell.

What had surprised the teachers, though, was Dame’s ability to break an enhanced attack.

Dame, on the other hand, still had one more card up his sleeve.

He could use his Lightning Body, activate the power of the gauntlets to channel Simyon’s old ability.

With that, he was sure it would be enough to impress. Just as he was preparing to do it, Dame caught sight of Raze giving a small thumbs-up, before quickly lowering his hand.

A barrage of Moon-enhanced attacks was now heading straight toward Dame.

This time, Dame activated his special gloves again, but he chose not to use Qi.

The attacks collided with his body, and in the next moment, he stomped the ground hard, kicking up a thick dust storm to block the others’ view.

When the dust finally began to settle, Dame was lying on the ground, groaning in pain.

"Ow... ow. I’m really hurt," Dame groaned, clutching his shoulder.

He had a few visible cuts on his body, but compared to the wounds he’d endured as a Pagna warrior, this was nothing.

"The match has come to an end!" Panla declared. "With that, all students have participated in the first stage of the selection process for the Cultural Exchange! Please wait as we announce those who will be moving on to the second stage!"

Later, when Dame returned, he received some real healing, along with a bit of fake healing from Safa, just to make it seem like he had taken more damage than he actually had.

Chiba and Yolden were gleefully gloating that one of their own had finally won, but Dame didn’t care.

Finally, the results were posted, and just as expected. The five top students and the five transfer students had advanced to the next stage of the assessment.

They would soon be entering another dimension.
