Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1611: The System’s Plan

Chapter 1611: The System’s Plan

Liam decided to trust the system completely. He didn’t second-guess it, didn’t question whether it was risky, didn’t hesitate. He simply poured his Qi into it as a power source, letting the energy flow through his body like a pulsing current. As it surged, red energy quickly began to gather in the palm of his hand, compressing together until it vibrated with destructive potential.

Then, he released it.

A massive blast of glowing red energy shot straight upward into the sky. It burst open above them like a firework, exploding into countless smaller orbs that scattered and shimmered, painting the air with streaks of crimson light. The explosion echoed across the battlefield, and for a moment, it felt like the world itself was holding its breath.

The Cerebus member instinctively stepped back. He didn’t dare rush in, not when he had no idea what this attack could do. His strange body made him difficult to kill, but that didn’t mean he was eager to throw himself headfirst into an unknown technique.

He watched the energy rising... and then he watched it fall.

The glowing droplets plummeted toward the ground like rain, sharp, heavy, and unnervingly precise. As they struck the trash-filled landscape, he noticed something odd about their shape.

Their silhouettes... were long.

"N-No way," he muttered, eyes widening behind the mask. "Are all of these just swords? Swords made entirely of pure energy? Well... not the same type as mine at least."

One by one, red energy beams shaped like blades stabbed into piles of junk, metal, and debris. They landed in scattered positions, wedged upright like a field of glowing weapons. It was unmistakable, this was one of Red’s signature moves, one of her clear pathways to victory.

And now, Liam was attempting to use the same tactic.

Without waiting another second, Liam charged forward using the same blistering speed as before. Every step he took released a small burst of red light beneath his feet. As he moved, he reached out and grabbed several of the red swords from the ground. The moment his fingers wrapped around them, he spun, slashing toward the Cerebus member.

Each strike cut through the man’s body effortlessly. But just as before, every wound he inflicted healed immediately, re-forming with glowing light.

Out of pure frustration, the masked man lifted his arm and fired golden beams from his hands. The attacks sliced across the battlefield, but none of them hit. Liam was simply too fast, too agile, darting and weaving through every attack as if he already knew the trajectory of each projectile before it formed.

He picked up another red sword, slashed the man in half again, then threw the blade into the ground. He repeated this over and over, filling the area with dozens upon dozens of energized swords.

But the pattern continued endlessly.

The masked man showed no signs of struggling. His body simply regenerated no matter how brutal the cuts were. It was like attacking a reflection, something that would always return.

Until Liam suddenly stopped moving.

The Cerebus member hesitated, confused. Liam stood still in the center of the field, red blades scattered around him, his chest rising and falling steadily.

"It looks like I’m done with the system’s request," Liam said calmly.

The masked man was puzzled. From where he stood, all he could see were the swords stuck upright in the ground, nothing more.

Liam lifted his hand.

"It’s time for my next step," he said. "All of it, attract!"

The swords trembled.

Then they began to rise.

One by one, the red blades pulled free from the ground, floating into the air. They drifted toward the masked man all at once, hundreds upon hundreds of glowing weapons pulled by a force he could not see.

"What, ?!" he gasped.

The swords slammed into him from every possible direction. Dozens pierced him simultaneously, but instead of continuing forward, each blade stopped once it touched his regenerating body. They hovered there, unmoving, but firmly lodged through him as if pinned by invisible hands.

Every sword pointed toward the same central location, toward him.

Liam had created a complete trap.

A perfect sphere of red swords formed around the Cerebus member, their points all angled inward. The massive orb wasn’t hollow, it was solid, formed entirely from overlapping blades stabbing through the man’s body. He couldn’t move without disintegrating himself against the red energy.

And that was the system’s plan.

What Liam had done wasn’t coincidence. He had used everything at his disposal, the attraction and repelling abilities granted by one item, combined with the sword capable of cloning itself countless times. He had used red energy to empower each blade, turning them into movable tools. And in the middle of the fight, while slashing and throwing blades, he had also embedded nanobots into at least one weapon.

Those nanobots were so small they were invisible to the naked eye.

One of them had cut the Cerebus member earlier.

Which meant one thing:

That nanobot was now stuck somewhere on the man’s regenerating body.

As long as it remained there, Liam could target it directly.

If the masked man had used a full-body explosive attack earlier, he might’ve destroyed the hidden nanomachine. But he had been too focused on fighting, too desperate to keep up.

And that mistake trapped him.

All thousand swords were being pulled toward the hidden nanobot attached to the Cerebus member.

It didn’t matter how many times the man healed.

He was locked in place by the overwhelming pressure.

Liam watched as the blades merged together, forming a massive red sphere around his opponent. The masked man couldn’t move an arm or a leg without losing part of his body. Any attempt at motion only made him disintegrate faster.

He wasn’t dead.

But he was completely trapped.

Liam exhaled slowly.

"This is a complete success," he said quietly. "But... can you really call this a victory when the guy is still alive?"

The glowing red orb shook, faint light flickering along its surface.
