Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1636: Gizin Reformed

Chapter 1636: Gizin Reformed

When Raze saw Gizin standing there, completely unscathed, he found himself struggling to comprehend what was happening. His breathing was uneven, his grip tightening around the hilt of his sword as his mind ran through every logical path it could.

Dark Magic has the property to destroy, Raze reminded himself, replaying the impact of his last attack. Even if Light Magic reacts strangely, condensing, reforming, twisting back to a single point, it shouldn’t be possible for everything to survive if the entire mass is wiped out at once.

And yet, despite the overwhelming power of the Ten Descending Steps merged with his Eclipse Strike, despite the sky darkening and the ground cracking apart for miles, despite the storm of Qi and Dark Magic that had torn apart the arena...

Gizin still stood.

"I know what you’re thinking," Gizin said lightly, almost amused. His steps were calm, his posture relaxed, as if everything happening around them were merely an inconvenience. He twirled his cane in his hand before resting it against the ground. "But the answer is simple. Maybe your attack wasn’t strong enough. Maybe I deliberately separated the Light Magic, scattered fragments so your darkness wouldn’t destroy it in one sweep. There are many ways to avoid being erased by a brute-force technique."

His smile widened, and for a second, just a second, the presence surrounding him felt suffocating.

"I already told you," Gizin continued, lifting a hand as radiant energy shimmered around his fingers, "what you’re facing right now is the closest thing this world has to a god."

Raze’s eyes narrowed. "A god?"

"Yes." Gizin tilted his head. "You were in Pagna, weren’t you? You’ve heard of the Rylon Religion. They worshipped me, trained for generations to create someone like me. Someone strong enough to confront them."

Them? Raze repeated mentally. The Dark Guild? The Divine Realm? Another enemy he had yet to uncover? Whoever Gizin meant, he clearly didn’t consider Raze one of them.

Still, speculation wouldn’t help him. He needed a solution, and fast.

His gaze fell to the dark, swirling cloak that now draped over him. The Blazer. A God-tier item capable of consuming attacks, absorbing energy, and, if necessary, devouring living beings.

The Blazer can absorb life.

If I consume his entire body, erase him completely, before he can rebuild, maybe that will work.

Even if the time magic reverses everything else, would the Blazer’s effect be undone? Or would Gizin remain gone?

It was a risk. A terrifying one. But Raze was running out of options.

If I lose a memory, I’ll deal with it.

I can’t let him walk away.

He subtly shifted his stance, positioning himself so he could move in close. The sword in his hand pulsed, becoming a beacon of darkness. From the blade, waves of shadow spread outward, swallowing the faint remnants of light lingering in the broken arena. The ground darkened. Air thickened. Even the sounds of their battle seemed to fade beneath the weight of what Raze summoned.

He activated the Abyssal Night Formation.

Darkness condensed around him, swirling in orbit like hungry spirits. The Demonic Qi embedded within the technique caused the shadows to ripple and breathe, as if alive. Bit by bit, the area dimmed, the Eternal Night creeping forward to engulf everything.

Under the cover of darkness, Raze planned to strike. The Eternal Night Formation not only empowered his seven other formations, it allowed him to create opportunities, openings that would let him reach Gizin long enough for the Blazer to devour him.

But before the shadows could settle, before the darkness could smother the arena, Gizin simply lifted his cane and slammed it onto the ground.

A wave of light exploded outward.

It wasn’t just bright, bright wasn’t enough to describe it. It was blinding, overwhelming, smothering in a way only raw divine energy could be. The clash of Light and Dark struck violently, sparks erupting as their elements shredded one another. Yet, in only a heartbeat, Raze’s Eternal Night was unraveled, devoured, and scattered into nothing.

When the light faded, both techniques vanished.

"I don’t know what you were trying to do," Gizin said, dusting off his sleeve casually, "but did you really think I would stand still and let you?"

His voice hardened, not with anger, but certainty.

"If your only strategy is to rely on that Dark Magic of yours, then you will never best me."

Then, with a chilling ease, he smiled.

"And the truth is, I’ve only shown you a fraction of my power. I didn’t think I would need to use more against you...but you continue to surprise me, Raze."

Gizin took a step forward.

And as his foot touched the ground, a second Gizin appeared behind him, an ethereal duplicate, perfect down to the smallest detail.

Raze’s pupils tightened.

Another step.

Another clone.

Each movement produced a new copy, each one radiating Light Magic and Qi. They spread across the battleground with eerie precision, like a wave replicating endlessly. But unlike Enaxx, whose versions were physical splits of his own power, these were pure magic given form.

Raze could sense it, their bodies were constructs, formed entirely of Gizin’s energy, obedient extensions of his will.

They kept forming. Ten. Twenty. Thirty. Their numbers multiplied faster than Raze could track. Soon the shadows cast by their weapons overlapped, circling Raze until the world around him blurred with gold.

When the final one formed, a hundred Gizin stood in a unified formation, each holding a glowing cane, all aiming directly at him.

Gizin’s real body spread his arms wide.

"You said earlier that I lacked technique," he said with a mocking grin. "So let’s see if your precious formations can save you from this."
