Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1660: The End Of The Dark Guild (Part 2)

Chapter 1660: The End Of The Dark Guild (Part 2)

When Raze had once carried the title of Dark Magus in the past, he had only encountered a handful of others who had learned Dark Magic, at least, those who had not already met their end. Back then, Dark Magic was something whispered about, feared, and hunted down before it could ever spread too far.

Now, however, things were different.

Dark Magic had grown far more common after Raze’s fall and disappearance, and even more so after the formation of the Dark Guild. What had once been a forbidden path had become a tool, something people sought out for power, protection, or survival. The world had changed while Raze had been gone, and he was only now beginning to see just how deeply.

Because of that, there was one consequence he had almost forgotten about.

Killing someone who practiced Dark Magic was never simple.

Not only had Raze absorbed every last fragment of mana and energy from Harvey’s body, but now the true aftermath was beginning. The Dark Magic Harvey had accumulated, his affinity, his stolen strength, and the residue of every life he had taken, had nowhere left to go.

It all flowed into Raze.

The Dark Affinity gathered from the fallen members of the Dark Guild, the power siphoned from those Harvey had sacrificed, and the corruption he had hoarded for himself surged toward a single point. Raze stood at the center of it all, unmoving, as the energy poured into him like a violent tide.

Those who had witnessed the battle, Alen, Liam, Dame, Kelly, Londo, and B, had already begun moving toward him, prepared to help if he stumbled or collapsed. Alen had emerged from hiding long before, his exhaustion forgotten the moment Harvey fell. They all believed the danger was over.

They were wrong.

Without warning, the air around them twisted.

Every single person felt it at the same time. The hair on their arms stood on end, and a sharp pressure settled over their chests as though the world itself had tightened its grip. In an instant, Raze’s skin darkened, spreading like ink across his body, while his pupils turned pitch-black.

“What… is that?” B asked, her voice tense with disbelief.

Even she, someone who had faced monsters, blood rituals, and large-scale destruction, had never felt anything like this. Not here. Not in Alterian, where the Divine Realm should not exist.

Then it happened.

A pulse erupted from Raze’s body.

The wave of pure mana blasted outward in every direction, smashing into the group with overwhelming force. All of them were thrown back, their feet lifted from the ground as the shockwave slammed them into the stone and debris around them.

Alen groaned as he hit the ground, pain radiating through his body. “That…” he muttered, forcing himself to push up slightly. “That was pure mana. No technique. No spell. Just raw mana.”

He clenched his teeth as he looked toward Raze. “I’ve never seen someone change like that before… but I know what this means.”

Raze stood at the center of the ruined battlefield, staring down at his own hands. Small fragments of stone and dust hovered around him, trembling as though gravity itself had loosened its hold. The ground beneath his feet cracked under the pressure of the mana flooding outward.

“He’s done it,” Kelly said quietly, a faint smile forming despite the chaos.

Londo nodded, his expression filled with awe. “They say the experience isn’t recorded anywhere. That reaching this level warps the space around you itself.”

The air felt distorted, almost weightless. Even those still on the ground had to brace themselves to avoid being dragged closer by the swirling mana flow surrounding Raze.

“What’s happening to him?” Dame asked, shielding his face against the pressure.

“He’s broken through,” Kelly answered. “The ninth star.”

The words settled heavily over the group.

Raze was now a ninth-star mage.

Raze himself could feel it clearly. This wasn’t unfamiliar, he had reached the ninth stage once before, in another body, in another life. The sensation was unmistakable. Yet this time, it was different.

This was the first time he had reached this level through Dark Magic.

The mana in the air felt heavier, deeper, and far more oppressive than anything he remembered. It clung to everything, bending light and sound around him as though the world itself was reacting to his presence.

‘I thought my chance was gone,’ Raze reflected silently. ‘After Gizin… after Safa absorbed what I couldn’t.’

He had believed that missing that opportunity would permanently bar him from reaching this level again. Yet here he stood.

His path forward was still steep.

Two Grand Magus remained.

Idore and Trubin.

Raze knew better than anyone that Trubin was no ordinary ninth-star mage. He wasn’t just powerful, he excelled in combat. While the other Grand Magus wielded influence, resources, or schemes, Trubin was destruction incarnate.

And Idore was no less dangerous.

The greatest crafter in existence, backed by the strongest guild in the world. His creations rivaled artifacts from Alter itself. Worse still, Trubin had always acted under Idore’s orders. Whenever disputes arose between nations, whenever something needed to be erased quietly, Trubin was sent to handle it.

That pairing made them the most dangerous threat Raze would face.

“Raze… you really did it,” Liam said, approaching carefully. “You stopped Harvey, took down a Grand Magus, and now you’ve reached the ninth stage.”

The victory felt hollow.

The Underside lay in ruins. The Dark Guild was nearly erased. Countless lives had been lost, and Alterian itself was already beginning to shift under the weight of what had occurred.

They would need time. Plans. Answers.

Liam looked around, scanning the battlefield one last time, his expression turning uncertain.

“There’s just one thing,” he said slowly. “Where’s Safa?”
