Dark Magus Returns

Chapter 1676: Good Advice

Chapter 1676: Good Advice

The others listening from above all had an immediate, instinctive reaction the moment Natty spoke those words. There was no mistaking it, what she had just said was not a warning, not a negotiation, but a clear and deliberate threat. Every person present understood that once those words were spoken, there was no longer any room for discussion.

The real question was what came next.

Before anyone could properly process the situation or even consider stepping in, Natty had already begun casting her spell. The air around her shifted violently as powerful currents of wind formed around her elbows, spiraling outward and wrapping around her arms. The wind thickened, compressing and rotating faster and faster until it was no longer just air but a tangible force, sharp and dangerous.

The spell continued to grow, feeding on itself, and even from above the others could tell it was no minor technique. This was a large-scale attack, one that required both control and confidence to wield so openly.

Song saw it instantly.

Without hesitation, he stretched out his hand, lightning bursting forth from his fingertips. The crack of electricity filled the air, bright arcs snapping forward with deadly precision. It wasn’t just Song either, other members of the River Moon Guild reacted at the same time, launching their own attacks toward the remaining two Noble Guild members who stood beside Natty.

Spells collided in midair.

Yet before any of those attacks could land, a translucent barrier rose up around the Noble Guild members. It shimmered faintly as spell after spell struck against it, dispersing harmlessly as if they had hit an invisible wall. Every attack was stopped completely.

The confidence Natty carried suddenly made perfect sense.

She didn’t even flinch as spells exploded against the barrier protecting her.

Still, Song was no ordinary guild master. His lightning continued, sharper and more focused than the others. Unlike a single burst, he attacked with all five fingers at once, directing five separate streams of lightning toward the same target. The concentrated assault struck the barrier at multiple points simultaneously.

The result was immediate.

The barrier shattered.

Cracks spread through it like glass, and the next instant, lightning surged directly into Natty’s body. Electricity wrapped around her from head to toe, illuminating her form in brilliant flashes. The attack was violent, powerful, and far beyond what most mages could withstand.

"He managed to cast such a big spell in that short amount of time?" Kelly whispered from above, unable to hide her shock.

At this point, staying silent no longer mattered. The fight had begun, and words spoken now would change nothing.

"No," Raze replied quietly. "That spell doesn’t have that level of mana. Something else is happening. It’s being amplified."

Natty’s smile answered everything.

Despite the lightning tearing through her body, she remained completely unharmed. With a smooth motion, she flung her arms forward. The wind surrounding her reacted instantly, stretching outward like extensions of her own limbs. Rather than attacking Song directly, the wind curved around him and surged behind the River Moon Guild members instead.

The current wrapped around their bodies, tightening suddenly before yanking them forward.

In a single violent motion, the wind slammed them outward, throwing them across the open field beyond the tea house. Bodies crashed into the ground one after another, the impact heavy enough to crack stone. The mages groaned in pain, struggling as they tried to rise again.

"Such a nice tea house," Natty said calmly, her voice carrying easily across the battlefield. "Along with this pagoda. So much has already been destroyed. It would be a shame to destroy it further."

She tilted her head slightly, eyes filled with cold satisfaction.

"And besides, when I take over this place, I’ll have it turned into my own territory. A privilege of being a high-ranking member of the Noble Guild, which you gave up."

The fight escalated instantly.

Other members of the River Moon Guild sensed what was happening and rushed toward the area, leaping into the air and launching spells as they moved. They joined the battle without hesitation, forming ranks as they attacked Natty from multiple angles.

Spells flew back and forth, fire, wind, lightning, and magic colliding violently in the air. The sheer number of attackers forced the Noble Guild members to finally engage fully, defending and counterattacking instead of standing still.

Seeing this, Kelly moved instinctively, ready to intervene.

Before she could, Raze raised his hand.

"Wait," he said.

Kelly froze, turning toward him.

"Right now, we don’t know how far the Noble Guild is willing to go," Raze continued. "This could be a test. A way to force the River Moon Guild into submission."

He watched the fight closely, eyes sharp.

"If we intervene and they realize we’re here, the Noble Guild might label River Moon as a target just for associating with us. Helping now could actually make things worse for them."

Kelly clenched her fists, clearly frustrated, but she knew he was right.

As more River Moon mages joined the fight, Natty found herself surrounded. Spells struck toward her from every direction. She blocked many of them with powerful currents of wind, redirecting attacks effortlessly. Each time she deflected an assault, the wind lashed out in response, slamming into mages midair and sending them crashing down one after another.

One thing became increasingly clear.

She was deliberately ignoring the lightning attacks.

Lightning wrapped around her body repeatedly, crawling over her skin, yet she showed no sign of pain. Then, with a swift motion, she redirected the energy, twisting it away from herself and sending it back.

The redirected lightning slammed into Song.

His body was flung through the air, spinning violently before crashing to the ground. He barely managed to roll onto his side, but a deep, scorched mark burned across his shoulder. His arm lay useless, trembling slightly as he struggled to move it.

For a mage like Song, one who specialized in lightning techniques and precise control, losing the use of an arm was devastating. Nearly half of his offensive power had been erased in an instant.

"Song," Natty said coldly, floating above him, "you need to be made an example of."

She raised her hand, wind swirling violently as a tornado formed in midair. The massive vortex surged forward, engulfing Song completely. His form disappeared within the spinning wall of wind, the pressure crushing inward.

Then something changed.

Dark magic seeped into the tornado, blending with the wind. The swirling currents turned heavy and ominous, shadow bleeding through the storm. For a moment, nothing could be seen, only the violent mixture of wind and darkness.

Then both vanished.

The wind collapsed inward, the dark magic dissipated, and in the space where Song had been, a white-haired figure stood calmly, one hand lowered, eyes steady.

"It appears," Raze said quietly, "that I can’t even follow my own advice."
