Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 741: Free Alliance's Dinner Gathering

Chapter 741: Free Alliance's Dinner Gathering

That evening, at Li Nian's villa, Lin Yu once again scaled the wall under the identity of Zhu Ming, pulled open the sliding door with practiced ease, swapped his shoes, and stepped inside.

The Free Alliance members were gathered in the living room, waiting for dinner to start—there were four more people than last time.

Two of them were people Lin Yu had met before.

The "Designer," Wang Yuyang.

And the muscular man in a tight black vest, whom he'd encountered not as "Zhu Ming"—the "Prisoner," Old Zhou.

The other two were a man with a buzz cut, wearing a loose white tank top with a foreign man's face tattooed on his arm, stir-frying at a roaring stove in the kitchen, and a woman in a windbreaker with short, neat hair, sprawled comfortably on the sofa, reading a book.

Lin Yu could guess from the tantalizing aroma filling the room that the buzz-cut man was probably "Chef."

As for the woman, Lin Yu couldn't figure her out.

Still, he wasn't too concerned and walked straight up to Li Nian, who was fiddling with her phone.

"Has your place turned into a Free Alliance base now?"

Li Nian looked up, saw it was Lin Yu, and shrugged. "The couple's out on a business trip. I just let the housekeeper take a day off and faked the surveillance footage—safer than booking a hotel outside. You finally wrapped things up?"

Lin Yu nodded. "Yeah, I've handled most of it."

Li Nian set down her phone. "Good. By the way, let me introduce you—the one doing push-ups is 'Prisoner,' Old Zhou; the one cooking is 'Chef,' or you can call him 'Chef God'; and the one reading over there is 'Mountaineer.'"

"Everyone, this is 'Zhu Ming'—though she's still 'Clozapine' of the Psychological Society for now."

Old Zhou and Wang Yuyang gave slight nods of acknowledgment toward Lin Yu.

The reading "Mountaineer" closed her book, grinned broadly, and said enthusiastically, "Hey, girl, you interested in things like wilderness camping and hiking?"

Lin Yu was about to reply when Phantom cut in. "Better say no. The first time I met her, I said yes, and she dragged me to the Amazon rainforest. I almost got eaten by an anaconda."

Wang Yuyang calmly added, "Going to real-world places is the good outcome. She once said she'd take me and Yuqiang through a dungeon... and then we ended up climbing the fourth-highest, second-most-dangerous peak on Ninefold Cold Mountain, Xuanbing Peak."

The Mountaineer pouted. "Pushing limits, exploring the unknown, conquering challenges... how thrilling. You guys just can't enjoy it—you lack passion and enthusiasm. Don't you have any love for life?"

Just then, Chef turned off the stove, plated several dishes, and pushed a cart over.

"Wow, cut the crap, you idiot. We're finally getting a new member, and you want to drag her out into the wild? Only running all over the world counts as loving life?" Chef set down clay-pot stews, soup pots, and a few steamed and stir-fried dishes. "Having a smoke, sipping some tea, taking it easy—isn't that loving life too?"

Chef lectured the Mountaineer.

The Mountaineer didn't get angry. She rubbed her hands together and said, "You've got a point. Let's eat!"

Everyone gathered around the dining table to taste Chef's cooking. Lin Yu took a bite and felt his eyes light up.

It was on par with the dishes from Lin Zhao's childhood that he remembered.

But now wasn't the time to savor the food. Sitting beside Li Nian at the table, Lin Yu took the opportunity to ask.

"I'm guessing you're all the ones joining this 'bets' too?"

Prisoner nodded.

"Right. Me, Mountaineer, and Chef will be fighting as Third Tier combatants for the Free Alliance."

Wang Yuyang added, "And the two of us will be fighting as Second Tier."

Lin Yu inclined his head.

"Unless I'm mistaken, Brother Wang, you'll probably be facing an old acquaintance of mine."

"I know. That 'May May,' right?"

Wang Yuyang said without surprise.

Lin Yu pursed his lips, showing a reaction that seemed like just hearing the name still made him uncomfortable.

Then he continued, "Yeah, it's him... He's not easy to deal with."

"Want me to hand him over to you?" Wang Yuyang looked at Lin Yu. "He chose to stand against you for the sake of his organization. I'd love to punch that scumbag in the face—but if you want to do it yourself, I have no problem with that."

Phantom clicked her tongue twice.

"Yang, I know you're a romantic, but you don't have to say outright in front of the whole group that you'd fight the organization for your girlfriend."

Wang Yuyang shook his head. "I don't think you all mind. Besides... Yuqiang wouldn't make things hard for me."

Hearing Wang Yuyang's words, Lin Yu smiled silently and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

"There's nothing about him being unfaithful between us. The way we interact means... if he really betrayed Order for me, it would actually make me feel really uncomfortable."

"So, it's better to leave him to you, Brother Wang—I don't want to fight him either."

Lin Yu paused, then added.

"Besides... he's not completely heartless. At least, he told me that if I don't fight him, I'd know who my opponent will be."

Everyone was stunned. Phantom exclaimed in surprise, "Whoa, you two are still in contact?"

Li Nian was also astonished. "He even told you that."

Xiaoyun, ever practical, chimed in, "It should be A-Yin, right? We could all guess that."

"Using something everyone knows to suck up to you," Li Nian said indignantly. "I think Brother Wang's judgment is right—he's definitely a scumbag."

Wang Yuyang again offered to switch opponents. "A-Yin is no easy opponent. How about... I take him on instead?"

Lin Yu shook her head again.

"Brother Wang, I know you've been a Second Tier longer than I have and want to fight stronger opponents, but I have to tell you... A-Yin and May May are evenly matched."

Lin Yu elegantly picked up a piece of coral trout with her chopsticks. "Because he didn't just tell me a name. He also sparred with A-Yin and gave me some details about his techniques and moves."

Hearing this, the Free Alliance members thought they were hallucinating.

"You're saying a member of Order... actually went out of his way to spar with someone from his own organization and revealed his abilities to you, who's about to duel that very person?"

It sounded like the exact opposite of what Wang Yuyang had said—"May May" had actually turned against his own organization for Zhu Ming.

"Sister Zhu Ming, you've trained him well."

Wang Yuyang's expression softened slightly.

"So, what was the result of the sparring match?"

Lin Yu looked at Wang Yuyang, recalling that afternoon's battle.

With both sides being fairly restrained and not using consumables—relying only on physical enhancements and the items May May could access—he and A-Yin had sparred at Order's venue for an entire afternoon.

That afternoon, neither could gain the upper hand.

"It was a draw."

Lin Yu said calmly.

A-Yin was indeed a tougher opponent than she had imagined.

Of course...

"It looks like that May May is a stronger opponent than I thought."

Wang Yuyang reached the same conclusion.
