After confirming the change in ownership of the [Items], Lin Yu solemnly tucked away this gift from Robin.
"Thank you. This is precious to me... it's practically invaluable."
Robin waved her hand. "No... there's no need to be so polite. After all, you saved my life—it's the least I could do."
"But... even after you advance to [Third Tier], don't rush to challenge [Fluoxetine]. She's incredibly formidable even among those at [Third Tier]. Besides [Gunflower], she has plenty of other tricks up her sleeve."
She spoke quickly, and Lin Yu nodded with a smile.
"Don't worry, I'm not that impulsive."
Robin let out a sigh of relief. "Good... in any case, when it comes to revenge or anything like that, you need to plan long-term. Don't act rashly... you absolutely can't be too hasty."
Having said that, Robin fell silent again—but it wasn't the kind of silence that comes from having nothing to say. It was the hesitation of someone wrestling with whether to speak her mind.
Lin Yu noticed this, smiled, and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll head to the restroom."
But just as Lin Yu turned to leave, Robin finally spoke up.
"Wait—wait a moment!"
"Is there something else?"
Lin Yu asked, feigning surprise.
"Well... could we add each other as [Social] friends?" Robin murmured softly, her fingers fidgeting together. "It might make things more convenient..."
Lin Yu didn't reply. Instead, he silently opened the [Social] panel, confirmed he was using the [Director] account, and directly searched for [Robin], sending a friend request.
Robin, who had been nervously waiting for Lin Yu's answer, was already breaking a cold sweat on her forehead. Suddenly, she heard the alert sound from her [Social] panel.
"Ah?"
Robin gave a slight start, then saw Lin Yu's friend request pop up. She stood frozen in place.
Three seconds later, Robin snapped out of it.
"Thank you so much!"
After blurting out a somewhat incoherent remark, Robin quickly turned and hurried back toward the banquet hall.
Lin Yu watched Robin's retreating figure. A few seconds later, he saw the friend request accepted notification.
Staring at the newly added [Robin] in his [Social] list, Lin Yu let out a breath.
"What an interesting little lady..."
And a very strong one at that.
As Lin Yu was musing, he heard a resentful voice from behind him.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing, you bastard."
Lin Yu turned around to see Good Night emerging from the restroom.
But judging by the lingering smell of smoke on him, Good Night hadn't actually gone to use the toilet—he'd been by the window next to the restroom, smoking a cigarette.
Seeing Good Night's face, which showed no trace of post-smoking satisfaction but only a thick layer of grievance, Lin Yu felt the pressure and quickly explained.
"Captain Good Night, that's a strange question. What else would I be doing at the restroom?"
"Heh, you little bastard's not being straight with me," Good Night said, stepping forward and slightly crouching to look up at Lin Yu's eyes from below. "You think I just came out? I was at the sink, using the mirror reflection to watch you for ages, you bastard!"
"Bastard, what were you whispering about with that [Robin] from the [Night Watchmen]?! Don't tell me she confessed to you again! Answer me, you bastard!"
Facing Captain Good Night's interrogation, Lin Yu remained calm.
"What are you talking about, Captain? How could that be... She was just expressing her congratulations and gratitude to me."
Good Night naturally didn't believe him. "Ha, bastard, still lying to me. I saw her pull out a painting frame and give it to you... Was it a portrait of you? I bet it's you sitting in the sun in a white shirt, looking melancholy, listening to music, right?"
Good Night said through gritted teeth, and Lin Yu sighed.
"Really, it's not. She gave me a painting that's an [Item]. How else would I have stowed it away so quickly?"
"Captain, don't be so tense," he spread his hands and said. "Since when did someone from the peninsula get such a wild imagination?"
Good Night remained somewhat skeptical even after Lin Yu's explanation. "Bastard, then why did she run off with that shy look on her face at the end?"
"Don't you know [Robin] from the [Night Watchmen]? With her timid, shy personality, she'd run away like that from anyone who says a couple of words to her."
Lin Yu said with certainty.
Seeing Lin Yu's righteous expression, Good Night, lacking any substantial evidence, had to let it go.
"Well, you bastard get a pass for today, but I'll be watching you, you little punk," Good Night said, pointing first at his own eyes, then at Lin Yu. "I'll be watching you every step of the way. If I catch any problems with your personal conduct, I'll be the first to sever ties and write a report to impeach you."
With that, keeping his gaze locked on Lin Yu, Good Night slowly backed his way into the banquet hall.
He even bumped into the doorframe twice and nearly tripped.
Lin Yu watched Good Night disappear into the distance and waved goodbye to his captain.
Then, he finally entered the restroom, found a stall, pulled out the [Cyber Ghost's Electronic Coffin], and started checking his messages.
There wasn't anything important from the [Free Alliance]. The latest update was that [Mountaineer] had posted a photo in the group chat—a deep mountain pool with clear water at the edges, where you could directly see many giant fish swimming. This had [Never Empty-Handed] frantically messaging, asking for the location.
[Never Empty-Handed: I'm asking you where it is!]
[Never Empty-Handed: Talk, Sister Meng, don't hog it all!]
[Never Empty-Handed: Damn it, you don't even have fishing gear! Send the location now!]
[Never Empty-Handed: Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!]
Lin Yu scrolled past the Fisherman's messages. The earlier topics had at least some connection to him.
Since he was going to meet [Fluoxetine], they were seriously discussing issues related to the [Psychological Society].
Lin Yu took a look and found it not particularly useful for his current situation—far less valuable than Robin's specific intel.
The gist was that at the [Third Tier] level in one-on-one combat, the three S-class members of the Executive Department were all difficult to handle in a solo fight, but anyone below S-class was basically no problem.
After that, the group discussed how everyone should strengthen their abilities going forward.
Clearly, losing three matches against [Order] in the arena had given these laid-back folks a bit of a sense of crisis.
And the one with the group name "Braised Carp King," after hearing [Comedian]'s description of the arena matches, had come to a somewhat different conclusion.
[Braised Carp King: I don't think it's reasonable to say that Mountaineer and Chef God just threw their matches by being cocky.]
[Braised Carp King: Both of them, and the rest of you too, have all sorts of quirks that might come across as 'cocky.' And these are things we won't change and absolutely don't want to change.]
[Braised Carp King: So, they didn't lose because they were cocky—ultimately, it comes down to insufficient strength!]
[Braised Carp King: If we had the strength to guarantee victory even after inevitably 'going off the rails,' wouldn't we never lose?]
[Braised Carp King: So, I still hold the same view—the prerequisite of [freedom] is [strength]!]
