Chapter 793: Rooftop Meeting — Round Two
Chapter 793: Rooftop Meeting — Round Two
Dusk had painted half the sky. 7:30 PM.
Top floor of Jinmao Tower.
Lin Yu pushed open the fire escape door and stepped out onto the rooftop.
But the moment he opened the door, he was stunned by the scene before him.
"What the hell?"
The originally empty rooftop was now practically a riot of colors.
Brilliant multicolored light strips flashed with neon glow, wrapping around the entire rooftop. A girl in a light blue techwear hoodie and shiny leather pleated skirt sat cross-legged on an LED electronic display screen. Her face was covered by a mask displaying the pixel kaomoji "ω," and a pair of blue-and-white headphones hung around her neck.
"Dear Xia Yue, it's been so long."
"Anyway... welcome to our date!"
Fluoxetine, her hair tied in double buns, spread her arms and smiled. The electronic screen beneath her flashed a cascade of "Welcome," "いらっしゃいませ," "Приветствовать," and "Bienvenidos," colors shifting and flickering endlessly.
Two pixel-art chibi figures, dressed almost identically to her today, danced across these words, performing a welcome dance.
Lin Yu wasn't surprised by this over-the-top entrance at all.
"You're really that bored... How early did you come here to set all this up? What if I'd shown up early?"
Fluoxetine giggled. "First, I knew you'd arrive on time. Second... I can actually set all this up in an instant."
"You're a very important date for me. It's only natural to dress up and prepare in advance."
Lin Yu sat down on an electrical box behind him, decorated with light strips, completely ignoring Fluoxetine's previous remark.
"So... what did you want to see me about?"
"Is it because I left the Psychological Society?"
Lin Yu asked calmly. Fluoxetine's mask shifted to a smiling "ᴗ" expression as she spoke. "Sort of, but I'm not here to drag you back or eliminate you—don't worry. The organization doesn't have that intention, and neither do I."
"I never thought you'd be that boring."
Lin Yu looked at Fluoxetine.
"Then I'll take that as a compliment," Fluoxetine said, still smiling. "Anyway... even though I guessed from the start that you weren't sincerely joining the Psychological Society, I didn't expect you to actually be joining the Free Alliance."
Lin Yu was a little surprised. "I thought that was pretty obvious. What did you think I was planning?"
"I thought you planned to infiltrate the Psychological Society from within, gather my intel, find an opportunity to take revenge on me, and along the way, plot to overthrow and destroy the entire organization."
Fluoxetine said this, squinting her eyes. The kaomoji changed to a thinking, lips-pursed expression.
"Hmm... you didn't actually consider that, did you?"
Lin Yu nodded slowly. "I did plan that, but joining the Free Alliance came first."
Fluoxetine stood up from the electronic screen. "Not a bad choice either. The Free Alliance is full of interesting people. It suits you."
"But since we won't be in the same organization anymore, it'll be less convenient to stay in touch. So, the main purpose of my visit today..."
Fluoxetine pulled a small bunch of blue-and-white flowers from inside her jacket.
Lin Yu recognized them: forget-me-nots and baby's breath.
Now that he had some understanding of Fluoxetine's Exclusive Item, every flower she pulled out made him stay on high alert.
Seeing Lin Yu tense up, Fluoxetine laughed.
"Relax, I'm not here to fight you—ta-da!"
She tossed the bouquet into the air, like a bride throwing her bouquet at a wedding.
"Poof!"
The bouquet arced through the air, exploding softly like fireworks.
Tiny petals fell like confetti, landing precisely right above Lin Yu's head.
Among those drifting petals came a rectangular sheet of copperplate paper, emitting a faint golden glow.
Lin Yu reached out and caught it, then saw the system notification.
【Carnival Ticket: An entry pass to the "Heavenly Amusement Park." But unlike a regular entry ticket, this ticket also allows participation in the "Carnival" event to be held at the "Heavenly Amusement Park."】
【Note: Luxury Single Package! Unlimited rides on all attractions! Crafted by the Game God! We look forward to your arrival!】
"I promised you a Carnival Ticket. I was originally planning to give it to you after you reached Third Tier, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to find you by then," Fluoxetine said with a light laugh. "Anyway... in about one, two, three, four, five, six months, the Carnival should start. Before that, work hard to get stronger—and, don't die."
"Although you can also transfer this ticket to someone else, and someone would probably pay a high price for it... I'd still prefer you use it yourself. It'll be very beneficial."
Fluoxetine said this as Lin Yu put the ticket away.
"So... will you be attending?"
"Of course."
Fluoxetine nodded. "I can't miss something this fun."
"Then rest assured, I'll be there."
Lin Yu looked at Fluoxetine. She understood his meaning, her eyes curving, the kaomoji on her mask widening into a bigger, brighter smile.
"So you see, I really do like you. You're pretty much the most interesting player I've ever met."
"I won't take this ticket for nothing. I have some intel here," Lin Yu said, looking at Fluoxetine. "There's a 'traitor' inside your Psychological Society."
"In fact, this 'traitor' might even have reached the Council level."
Fluoxetine had been standing somewhat relaxed, swaying slightly, not paying much attention to what Lin Yu called "intel." But after hearing the content of his intel, she was clearly stunned by Lin Yu's casual, offhand remark.
"Oh my... that really surprises me," Fluoxetine said, sitting back down on top of the display screen. "How do you know?"
"Freud. But not the one currently active."
Lin Yu said flatly.
Fluoxetine squinted. "Oh?—You met that First Generation guy? Did you go to the Misty Islands?"
"I didn't meet him in person, but I met someone claiming to be his successor and disciple. After hearing I was a Psychological Society member, he told me this intel," Lin Yu paused. "Consider this my compensation to the organization for leaving."
"Oh my my... bringing this news back is definitely going to throw the organization into chaos."
Fluoxetine squinted.
"That's exactly my real purpose."
Lin Yu said calmly.
"I'll keep it confidential for you, but," Fluoxetine leaned forward slightly, "I want to meet this so-called First Generation 'disciple.' Can you help set up an introduction?"
"What do you plan to do?"
Lin Yu countered.
Fluoxetine didn't hide her intentions.
"Since he's the disciple of Your Excellency the Founder, he's the orthodox heir of the Psychological Society," she said, her tone half-joking, half-serious. "How could we let someone like that remain outside? We definitely need to recruit him into the Psychological Society!"
