Volume 12 - Yomi-no-kuni: Chapter 221 - Demonic Horde Besieging

“Lynne!”

“Your Majesty!”

The six Supreme God sisters, along with Ayaka and the others, burst from Hekiraku City and soared into the dark expanse of the abyss.

Within the boundless dark of the abyss, overwhelming demonic auras surged toward them from every direction. It felt as if they were a vessel stripped of its hull, sinking into the ocean’s depths, except the sea was a living swarm of demons closing in.

“It’s a trap! Everything was a setup!” Asura-Onna shouted.

“Hekiraku City’s defenses are gone. How are we supposed to stand against this?” Rakshasa-Onna’s voice shook with disbelief. Even after tens of thousands of years in Yomi, she had never faced a situation so dire.

“What else is there to do? We fight.” Lily’s voice was cold and resolute. Her eyes were calm as she faced the endless tide of demons, without the slightest hint of fear.

She had once fallen into Yomi as a mere Big Dipper, hunted relentlessly by demons and pursued by Supreme Gods. Yet she survived. Now, her strength rivaled that of the Supreme Gods themselves. No matter how many enemies stood before her, she had nothing to fear.

Cherry blossom petals exploded around her, spiraling outward across tens of kilometers. Wrapped in crimson attire, Lily stood at the center of a radiant storm of Scarlet Lunar Sakura Force. Like a glowing moon falling from the sky, she descended upon the swarm of demons.

She had endured divine punishment, fallen into Yomi, and fled for her life to preserve her purity. She was dragged into the horrors of Rakshasa Dojo, forced into the Night Parade of One Hundred Maidens, won the top place through blood and will, and was then bartered away to the Boundless Abyss like an offering. She had come close to losing everything she held dear.

Resentment had simmered quietly within her all along. For the sake of her sisters, she had swallowed her pride and negotiated with the abyssal demon gods. But now, at last, there was no more room for diplomacy, only war.

With breathtaking speed, Lily surged into the demonic tide. The skies were choked with flying beasts, spectral vessels, and winged demons that howled as they closed in. But in an instant, thousands fell within the reach of her expansive Lunar Sakura Domain.

With a focused gaze, Lily summoned the full force of her Lunar Sakura energy. The petals swirling around her morphed into countless ethereal blades. Her domain was more than a Soul World projection now, it was empowered by Supreme God strength and augmented by the full breadth of her scarlet Lunar Force. Even she could not measure its limit.

The storm of cherry blossom blades tore through the horde like a divine whirlwind, slicing through flesh and bone. Thousands of demons disintegrated in the blink of an eye. The rest could barely react as Lily, wrapped in radiant light, cut a path of obliteration through their ranks.

With a sudden pulse of energy, Lily vanished and reappeared elsewhere. A fresh storm of sakura blades erupted from her presence, cutting down every demon in the vicinity. Only those with power beyond the Infernal Stage managed to survive, and even they struggled to remain standing.

“What is this power?” a demon gasped. Having barely stepped into the Infernal Stage and lacking both protective treasures and divine strength, he was struck from every direction. Wounds tore open across his body, his energy drained in seconds. Trapped within the storm of petals, he had nowhere to flee and perished in mere moments.

No one could have anticipated that Lily, even in such a desperate situation, would slay an Infernal-level demon without drawing her sword.

Unsatisfied after clearing the area, Lily leapt into the air, covering tens of kilometers in an instant, and charged into another cluster of flying abyssal demons.

Tens of thousands of winged demons filled the skies, eyes gleaming with greed as they screeched and closed in on Lily. Their wingspans ranged from a few meters to hundreds, and with each beat, they released strange pulses of energy that targeted her soul. A single pulse posed no threat, but thousands in unison could overwhelm even a Supreme God.

Yet Lily remained untouched. Her spiritual defenses, bolstered by the tear-forged barrier within her Mirror Dimension, held firm. No attack had pierced it. Her soul had grown immensely powerful, and her will was unshakable. Against her, their coordinated assault felt like nothing more than a gentle breeze.

Before their barrage could even subside, Lily had already surged forward. Her Cherry Blossom blades surged from her Lunar Sakura Domain and tore into the demons with relentless force, initiating another round of slaughter.

The flying demons, already familiar with the devastating might of her Domain, tried to flee in panic. But escape was futile. Dozens lost their wings and limbs mid-flight, their bodies shredded as the Lunar Sakura Domain turned the skies into a realm of carnage.

“What… what kind of monster is that?” a nearby demonic monk gasped. His frame was massive and yellow-brown, with twelve deity skulls strung around his neck, three red eyes burning with fury, and a golden horn protruding from his brow. This was Kamikaru Bozu, a feared Supreme God of Yomi-no-kuni. Watching the petite, crimson figure rip through the demon horde like a force of nature left even him stunned.

“You wretched thing! How dare you?” he roared. His body flared with divine might as he brandished a grotesque staff, crafted from the skull of a slain Supreme God, and lunged toward her.

Around Lily, countless Anima floated in the air, the souls of fallen non-deity demons. They were useless for cultivation and offered only a trace of divine recovery, but Lily had no intention of hoarding. Drawing from her Blood Spirit Magatama, she called forth their power. Channeling her Domain, she compressed the Anima into a radiant spiritual orb, pulsing with violent energy.

“Go,” Lily whispered, thrusting her palm forward.

The orb shot forward like a meteor, crashing into Kamikaru’s chest. A massive burst of spiritual energy erupted on impact, launching him backward across the abyss, his massive form tumbling for tens of kilometers.

From afar, Lord Umashi approached, drawn by the chaos. His eyes widened in disbelief. “Was that Kamikaru Bozu? He was thrown back in a single strike? Who could have done that… the Boundless Imperial Princess?”

He focused his divine vision, scanning the battlefield.

“Ka… Kagami Lily?” he muttered, stunned. The very woman he had once tried to enslave, the one he pursued across half of Yomi alongside Wakarai, now stood at the center of the chaos. And she had just hurled Kamikaru away with a single strike.

Kamikaru was nearly equal in strength to him.

“What… what is this madness? How can this be?” Lord Umashi’s expression contorted in disbelief.

“Lily, don’t push too far! You could be surrounded by Supreme God demons!” Queen Kaguya called out as she rushed over. She, Chiya, Shimizu, and Ayaka stopped at the edge of Lily’s domain. Kaguya-hime raised her golden jade branch and waved it, releasing a glow of divine energy.

Lily, Shimizu, Chiya, and Ayaka were bathed in divine blessings. While Lily’s power had already soared past the point where such blessings had much effect, she still felt a noticeable surge in strength.

Meanwhile, Rakshasa-Onna and her forces remained near Hekiraku City, intercepting demonic legions approaching from other directions.

Ayaka began her Heavenly Charm Dance, not aimed at a specific enemy but cast wide across the battlefield. Its ethereal melody and graceful rhythm spread in every direction, empowering her sisters across hundreds of kilometers. Mesmerized by the hypnotic dance and the chimes of her bells, many demons faltered, their minds dulled and their strength diminished.

But there was a cost, every bewitched demon instinctively charged toward the origin of the disturbance.

Lily reacted instantly, accelerating through the air to reach Ayaka, who was on the verge of being overwhelmed. As she entered the range of her own Lunar Sakura Domain, her energy resonated with Ayaka’s. The fusion intensified the domain’s brilliance.

Cherry blossom petals surged like a violet storm, cutting through every demon that crossed the boundary. One by one, the invaders burst apart under the pressure of the domain, their bodies shredded into nothingness.

The mesmerized demons shrieked in panic, only to be carved apart in a flurry of petals, their forms reduced to mangled remains.

With Ayaka momentarily safe, Lily’s eyes grew distant. Her breath was quick and uneven, not from exhaustion but from exhilaration. It was the thrill of battle, the blood-soaked joy of vengeance she had not felt in ages.

She launched herself into another demon-infested region, her body surrounded by a luminous rain that stretched for tens of kilometers. Each droplet shimmered like a blade, slicing through any demon it touched.

The sisters sensed a shift. The tidal wave of demons that once surged forward had begun to falter. Their formation broke apart, and retreat rippled through their ranks. Not even an endless horde could endure the onslaught she unleashed.

They had marched with confidence, prepared to crush all in their path. Instead, they found themselves halted by an unstoppable force in red. Their morale shattered, the demonic ranks were thrown into chaos by the scarlet figure who tore through them without pause.

“Who… who is she really?” murmured a silver-mustached Big Dipper demon from afar. A minor regional lord, he had only come to observe. Yet now, even his Throned Stage companions stood frozen, dumbfounded.

Though his strength was mediocre, fate had once spared him. He was one of the few who had survived the cataclysmic battle of ages past.

“In an instant, entire armies vanished. Everywhere she walks, death follows,” he whispered, eyes trembling. “Just like the goddess of war from a thousand years ago…”

Lily looked like a crimson spike driven into the heart of a colossal phantom. Her presence shattered the cohesion of the demonic horde, driving them into a full retreat.

“Mirror Girl, Kagami Lily! Do not grow arrogant!” A voice thundered through the abyss, followed by a blazing streak of lightning that split the sky. Wakarai had arrived. Clutching a lightning-forged spear, he unleashed a charge infused with destructive force capable of sundering worlds.

‘She must have acquired a Domain Artifact in Hekiraku City. Her strength barely matches a low-tier Supreme God. How dare she charge into the core of my forces? I’ll take her down myself,’ Wakarai thought as he thrust his spear forward.

As Lily turned, Wakarai descended like a thunderclap. Her eyes lit with crimson fire, ready to meet his strike head-on.
