Chapter 614: Badass Valkyries

Chapter 614: Badass Valkyries

Luna lifted her hands slowly, palms up, as if seeing them for the first time.

Thin filaments of electricity began crawling over her skin, faint at first, curious sparks tracing the lines of her fingers, skittering across her knuckles. The air around her crackled, pressure building, ozone biting sharp at the back of the throat. Her lips parted in a slow, satisfied breath as the storm answered her call.

Then it flooded her.

Lightning surged up her arms, wrapping her body in a living mantle of light.

Her purple hair lifted from her back, strands floating as if underwater before bleaching brighter and brighter, shifting into a vivid, electric violet-white that burned against the dim backdrop of the mountain range. Arcs snapped from her shoulders to the ground, leaving blackened scars in the dirt where they struck. Her aura expanded outward, violent and beautiful, a storm given flesh.

The chat screamed.

Luna grinned, feral and radiant, and raised one hand.

She shaped her fingers into a pistol, thumb cocking back with a playful click.

"You," she said, voice light, amused, eyes locking onto one of the Chorusbound Savants threading mana through the horde, "are also unwelcome in my domain."

She pulled the trigger.

The bolt almost teleported outright, becoming a lance of white-blue annihilation. It struck the Savant dead center, punching through its chest in a blinding flash. For half a second, the creature was outlined in light, every internal mana channel exposed.

Then it cooked.

The robe disintegrated. The throat-core detonated. The creature collapsed into a smoking, twitching ruin, mana threads snapping violently and sending feedback rippling through the formation.

Several monsters staggered as their buffs died with it.

Luna laughed.

"Eh," she then shrugged casually, electricity still dancing wildly over her body. "I’ll leave the long-range stuff to the bimbos."

She vanished.

A thunderclap exploded where she had been as Luna reappeared in a blinding burst of light inside the formation, weaving between two advancing Colossid Brutalizers with impossible precision. Their massive weapons came down a heartbeat too late, smashing stone where she’d already passed.

Lightning condensed in her grip.

The Stormblade materialized with a shriek of charged air, a jagged, radiant weapon of pure storm energy. Luna twisted mid-stride, brought the blade up in a brutal, elegant arc, and cleaved straight through a second Chorusbound Savant before it could even react.

The cut was clean.

The upper half slid off in silence before detonating into a storm of sparks and scorched flesh. Mana backlash rippled outward, knocking nearby Skirmeshades off their feet.

The Brutalizers roared and turned on her, weapons sweeping in wide, murderous arcs.

Luna flipped backward, boots barely grazing the edge of a shield as she launched herself into the air, electricity flaring brighter around her body.

The Skyreaver Harriers folded their wings.

They were coming.

Luna glanced up, then sideways, grin sharp and predatory as lightning coiled tighter around her frame.

"Yo," she called out cheerfully, eyes flicking toward Nyx. "Fatty. Get your udders out of the Nutella jar. It’s time to work."

Nyx’s eyes darkened.

The pink-haired Valkyrie lifted her right hand slowly, fingers curling inward as if gripping something invisible yet immensely heavy. The space around her palm distorted, warping like glass under pressure. Her brows knit, jaw tightening as her power focused, not explosive like Luna’s, but crushing.

Her gaze locked onto Luna’s electrified form midair.

"...You should choose your words with more care, gremlin bestie," Nyx decreed coldly.

Space latched.

Luna’s body jerked violently in the air as an invisible force clamped down on her, compressing from every direction at once. The Skyreaver Harriers were seconds from swarming her when the grip took hold, freezing her trajectory in a way that ignored inertia entirely.

"HEY!" Luna yelped, sparks exploding outward as lightning flared in protest. "You’re- ngh- you’re crushing me!"

Nyx’s lips curled into a dark grin that matched perfectly Luna’s own when she ordered the execution of the haters.

"Yeah..." she muttered, voice low and dangerous. "I’ll squeeze all the juice out of you, you rude brat. Prepare yourself."

Her eyes narrowed.

"Now," Nyx continued softly, lifting her left hand as well, space snapping tight around Luna from a second vector, "become my weapon."

For a heartbeat, there was silence.

Then Luna threw her head back and laughed.

Not a giggle. Not a chuckle.

Full-bodied, unrestrained, manic joy.

"Hahaha!!" Luna howled, electricity erupting from her body in wild arcs as the storm answered her excitement. The lightning around her intensified, turning blinding, sparks detonating in every direction as her aura spiked violently. "This is what I’m talking about!"

Nyx’s hands moved.

The world broke into motion.

With a sharp twist of her wrists, Luna’s body vanished from where it hovered and reappeared in a streak of light, space folding, snapping her through the air like a living projectile. Nyx’s fingers danced with precise, ruthless control, each movement flinging Luna along impossible angles, accelerating her far beyond natural limits.

Luna screamed with laughter as she flew.

She tore through the Skyreaver formation like a lightning-charged comet.

The first Harrier barely had time to screech before Luna passed through it, electricity discharging outward in a spherical blast that vaporized wings and cooked flesh instantly. A second and third followed in rapid succession as Nyx whipped Luna sideways, then up, then down, zigzagging her through the air with surgical cruelty.

Every pass was death.

Lightning lashed outward from Luna’s body, chaining between flyers, frying nervous systems, detonating bioluminescent veins in cascading explosions of blue-white light. Charred bodies rained from the sky, wings collapsing into ash as they fell.

Nyx’s hands clenched, fingers trembling under the strain as she accelerated the motion even further, turning Luna into a storm-guided missile, threading her between monsters with impossible precision. Another cluster of Harriers tried to scatter, but Nyx snapped her wrist.

Luna spun through them in a spiraling arc, Stormblade flashing as lightning detonated outward, shredding the entire group in a single, catastrophic sweep.

The sky cleared in seconds.

Burning fragments and smoking corpses plummeted downward, the air filled with crackling thunder and the fading echo of Luna’s ecstatic laughter as she finally skidded to a halt midair, still held aloft by Nyx’s spatial grip.

Electricity rolled off her in waves.

She was grinning.

The chat imploded.

— MoonlitHeart: WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL??? THEY AREN’T EVEN CASTING SPELLS?!?!?! HELLO!!!

— StormWife: DID NYX JUST THROW LUNA LIKE A GUIDED MISSILE?!

— SilverPetal: I THINK I FORGOT HOW TO BREATHE

— PrincessHalo: EXCUSE ME??? THIS IS ILLEGAL. THIS IS WAR CRIME LEVEL SEXY

— LunarTears: THEY’RE SYNERGIZING. THE TWO PERMANENTLY HISSING KITTIES ARE SYNERGIZING LIKE THAT?!

— SoftStar: Someone check my pulse. I’m not okay.

— SunBlessed: Bastet hasn’t even moved yet, and I’m screaming?

Emotes flooded the screen. Shocked faces. Lightning icons. Hearts, fire, crowns. Viewers spamming caps as if volume alone could process what they’d just witnessed.

— AriaBestGirl: That combo was NOT legal

— NyxSupremacy: SPACE × STORM. Someone draw them aggressively making out RIGHT NOW!

— StormWife: Luna is having WAY too much fun 😭

— MoonlitHeart: She’s GRINNING. She’s actually GRINNING.

On the battlefield, the thunder faded just enough for something else to be noticed.

Aria exhaled slowly, eyes lingering on the smoking sky. Then she glanced sideways.

Bastet met her gaze.

For a moment, neither spoke. The battlefield trembled. Monsters regrouped. Mana surged.

Aria smirked. "We can’t let those two steal all the spotlight."

Bastet’s tail flicked once, golden eyes narrowing with amused authority. "You take the right," she said smoothly. "I’ll take the left?"

Aria’s grin turned bright, almost giddy. "Sure!"

Moonlight flared around her as crescent sigils ignited in full brilliance. Bastet’s aura deepened, solar radiance blooming like a rising sun, heat rolling outward as sand and stone began to glow beneath her feet.

Kaiden felt it immediately.

The shift.

The next wave.

Five Valkyries. One battlefield. And a horde that had just learned—far too late—that it wasn’t fighting entertainers anymore.
