Chapter 670 - Death Of The Witches
Chapter 670 Death Of The Witches
“Eradicating evil. I won’t regret it,” Catherine said righteously. Her attitude was firm. The Dark Shadow beneath Chen Zhao’s feet had almost completely disappeared under the strong light. But it would never truly disappear.
Like what Samuel had said, where there was light, there was shadow.
At the moment, however, the Dark Shadow had totally retreated underneath Chen Zhao’s feet.
The Dark Shadow was entering his body through his feet.
That time, the Dark Shadow was released from Chen Zhao’s body. Now, it was returning.
But it was not the only thing to enter his body. The foundation gem went in too.
Under Chen Zhao’s control, the foundation gem, along with the Dark Shadow, flowed into his right arm.
Just then, the bronze sword turned black.
Chen Zhao lifted the sword again, opening the Eye of Power.
Carrying endless fury, Chen Zhao swept the sword out.
There was an ear-piercing sound. Everyone felt pain in their ears.
Meanwhile, the Cage of Light was destroyed. All the witches maintaining it vomited a mouthful of blood.
Chen Zhao walked out of the cage and toward Catherine.
“Mr. Chen… You’ve been bewitched by the words of the Fallen.” Catherine looked at Chen Zhao.
“Even if I’ve already fallen, I still hate being controlled by others!” Chen Zhao raised the sword high above his head. “Are you ready to die?”
“No!!” Charlotte screamed.
Ignoring Charlotte’s cry, Chen Zhao brought the sword down.
Catherine collapsed on the ground. Chen Zhao wiped off the blood on the blade.
“From now on, I am no longer a friend of the Witch Society. Whoever stops me will be my enemy.”
Nobody stopped or could stop Chen Zhao.
Charlotte watched as Chen Zhao disappeared at the end of the path.
She did not understand why.
Why would this happen?
Everything had been good. They were friends.
Why would they become irreconcilable enemies in the next second?
Chen Zhao was in a terrible mood.
He similarly did not like such a quick change from friends to enemies.
However, he did not regret that strike.
Because of their old friendship, Chen Zhao did not kill the rest.
Nevertheless, that friendship was totally gone by now.
It began to drizzle—
It was not an enjoyable night for anyone.
…
The witches in the Witch Society were divided into two parties.
Some of them would like to seek revenge, while others wanted reconciliation.
Charlotte listened as the senior witches argued incessantly in the meeting room.
She really did not want to be involved in this conflict.
At the moment, she was sitting outside the room, staring at the night sky.
Suddenly, she heard something.
“Charlotte.”
“Charlotte…”
Charlotte searched for the source of the voice. In the darkness not far away, there was someone.
“Mage?”
“Charlotte, come here.”
Dumbfounded, Charlotte walked toward the Mage in the rain.
“Mage… Why are you…?”
“It’s down there. The answer you want is down there.” The Mage pointed at the library in the distance.
“What’s down there?”
“Everything.”
Charlotte slowly walked toward the library…
…
In the meeting room of the Witch Society, the few senior witches were still quarreling.
“You all should know what is below there.”
“But we don’t even know if that person has been bewitched. It’s the Mage’s own claim.”
“The Mage has no reason to lie!”
“No, she does,” one of the witches said. “What if she’s the one who had been bewitched?”
“Impossible. She’s the Mage. Her mind can’t fall that easily.”
“The Mage’s favorite granddaughter died a year ago. She died to the Grandfather,” another witch said. “She had been constantly saying ‘why didn’t Mr. Chen appear earlier.’ We all know that something can take advantage of those who have lost control of their emotions, so I have all the reasons to believe that the Mage had been bewitched. She wanted to create a war between the Witch Society and Mr. Chen. That’s why she incited that conflict.”
“Now that the Mage’s dead, you can guess whatever you want. Would you dare to say that when she was alive?”
“I’m not guessing. I’m stating a fact,” the witch said. “Anyway, I can’t agree to such a meaningless war, especially when our enemy should have been our friend.”
“He killed the Mage. He’s our friend no more. The Mage cannot die for nothing. We must guard our honor as witches. We must make the murderer pay.”
“The Mage caused all of this in the first place. The conflict shouldn’t have happened.”
“So the Mage died for nothing?”
“Anyway, I won’t go and kill myself, nor will my students. If you’re so eager to die, go yourself.”
The witches who wanted revenge were in a difficult position too. If they could work together, they might stand a chance against Chen Zhao.
But now, they were not even united, so they could forget about revenge.
Chen Zhao had eliminated the Evil Spirit Society by himself, after all.
Just now, so many witches tried to bind him, but he still broke free.
He even severed the Mage’s head in the end.
They were not confident in the revenge plan in the first place. Now, half of them would not even cooperate.
Suddenly, Cindy ran in, panicked.
“Help… Help…”
“What’s wrong? Can’t you see we’re having a meeting? Be quiet.”
“Ms. Newmans, Sister Charlotte went to the library. And then… then…”
“What? Why did Charlotte go to the library now?”
“Then what?”
“Then she… she… jumped down from the top.”
All the witches gasped, making their way to the library.
The senior witches all knew what was hidden below the library.
But something like this happened at such a critical moment.
When they rushed to the bottom of the library, they saw a pool of blood on the floor, but Charlotte was nowhere to be seen.
It was more than 20 meters from the entrance of the library.
Even a witch could not survive that fall. But where was Charlotte?
Where did she go?
Suddenly, something poured down from the top.
“What’s that?”
“It’s… gasoline!”
The witches lifted their heads and saw Charlotte and Cindy looking at them from above.
However, there was a strange smile on their faces.
“Charlotte, Cindy… What are you doing?”
A cruel smile appeared on Charlotte’s face. “A match to light it up.”
Immediately, the library became a furnace.
The witches’ screams echoed from the bottom.
