Chapter 1302  All Paths leads to Same END

"Victor, Seraphina, talk fast. What do you know about these paths and the situation we are in?" Max asked without taking his eyes off the vast network of stone routes stretching into the shimmering horizon. Before they started walking these paths, he wanted to know where these paths leads to.

Victor stepped forward and examined the branching paths with a cautious expression. He spoke slowly, choosing his words with care. "These paths lead to many different areas scattered throughout the secret domain. Each road branches out in ways that appear random, yet they all possess an underlying purpose. When we first entered this place during our previous expedition, the elders guided us through several of them. Some led to abandoned ruins. Some led to small trial grounds. Some led to places filled with harmless illusions. Some even led to quiet regions where nothing existed except empty stone platforms suspended in the same void you see around us."

He continued while pointing toward the far distance where several paths intertwined like threads of light. "But no matter which route we took or how far we traveled along a particular direction, the endings were always the same. Every path eventually circled back or converged at a single destination. It did not matter if that path seemed long or short or if it appeared straightforward or misleading. They all ended at the entrance of the Celestial Beast Temple."

Seraphina nodded and added softly, "It was almost intentional. As if the creators of this place wanted anyone who entered the secret domain to eventually reach the temple. Even when the elders tried to explore the outer regions or test whether these roads could be disrupted, the paths remained firm and guided us without fail."

Victor glanced around the vast realm, his gaze moving from one stone bridge to another. "These paths were not built for exploration. They are guiding lines. They exist to funnel every intruder toward the temple. It feels like a design that cannot be resisted or ignored. Even now, if we attempt to follow the longest route or try to circle around to another region, we will still be forced to walk in the direction the realm wants us to walk."

Max narrowed his eyes slightly as he absorbed Victor's explanation. The idea that the entire domain existed solely to lead them toward the Celestial Beast Temple created a sense of inevitability.

It was as though stepping into this world had already set their fates in motion. A quiet breeze passed over the stone path, carrying with it a faint shimmer of starlight from the purple sky above, and the void beyond the path seemed to wait silently as if acknowledging their next step.

"So in the end," Max said after a moment of thought, "no matter what freedom we think we have here, our destination has already been chosen for us."

Victor nodded. "Yes. Everything in this domain pushes us toward the temple. Whether intentionally or not, these paths make it clear that the only way forward is through that final entrance."

Max looked ahead at the countless glowing paths that stretched into the unknown and felt the weight of the journey settle over him. The Celestial Beast Temple stood at the end of all things here, and whatever awaited them inside would not allow hesitation.

"Then we move forward," Max said with calm certainty as he stepped onto the next stretch of the stone road. The faint violet glow beneath their feet pulsed gently, almost like an unseen heartbeat guiding each person forward.

The others followed behind him in a tight formation, their expressions steady yet tense as the atmosphere around them grew heavier. Although the paths appeared calm, the strange world carried an unsettling stillness that made even the quietest sound echo unnaturally far.

Victor walked at Max's side and continued speaking without lowering his guard. "We have not faced many dangers on these paths before. Most of the earlier regions were uneventful when we came with the elders, at least when we stayed close to the designated routes. That being said, it would be foolish to relax. The elders never allowed us to walk alone, and they avoided several areas entirely. Be on guard just to be safe. The paths change when different groups enter."

He added. "Do you want the guide who had been leading us in these paths for many years to lead us here?"

Max thought for a moment and said. "That I have already planned but not now. Let's reach the first area and form there on he would take the lead."

"That is good as well." Victor said.

Max nodded silently and continued forward. The stone path widened gradually and revealed a circular platform ahead. It was the first major area on their journey. What awaited them seemed peaceful at first.

The stone floor was intact and no enemies or beasts could be seen. Yet the moment Max stepped onto the platform, the temperature changed with unnatural speed. A rising heat rolled through the air, and the purple sky above flickered with streaks of orange light. Before anyone could speak, faint cracks formed in the walls of the platform as if something had been sealed inside for ages and had just awakened.

A deep, lingering screech echoed through the region. It came from above and from below, from every direction at once. Immediately after, the cracks in the stone ceiling exploded outward, and from within them burst thousands of flaming bats.

Their wings carried trails of fire. Their eyes burned with an eerie orange light. The air vibrated with their shrill cries as the swarm descended toward the group like a living firestorm.

Max lifted his sword slightly, but before he could act, one of the figures moved forward. Seraphina of Phoenix God Nation, spread her arms wide and released a powerful wave of flame aura. Her aura surged outward, forming a protective barrier in the shape of a translucent white dome.

The bats slammed into it repeatedly, creating ripples upon the shield's surface. Some of the bats exploded on impact, scattering sparks of fire across the barrier. The sound grew louder and sharper as thousands of wings beat against the dome, attempting to shatter it with raw numbers alone.

She gritted her teeth. "There are too many of them. I can hold this barrier, but not for long. These bats are born from flame essence. They will overwhelm the dome if given enough time."
