Chapter 1412 Top Three Disciples of the 33rd Hall!
Chapter 1412 Top Three Disciples of the 33rd Hall!
"I see." Max smiled wryly as understanding dawned on him. He had not expected things to turn out this way, but at the same time, he truly did not care.
Elder Virelia had accepted him as her disciple of her own will, and that alone was enough for him. He was grateful for that opportunity, and as for the other disciples, their opinions meant nothing to him.
If any of them dared to cause trouble over this matter, then they would simply have to bear the consequences themselves.
Max continued talking with Carl and Laura for a while longer, during which the two of them explained the notable geniuses from other halls and the reputations they carried within the Black Dragon Palace.
Max listened attentively, committing the information to memory. As their conversation went on, more and more disciples began gathering at the central hub, the crowd steadily swelling as time passed.
Within just a few minutes, the number of disciples present easily surpassed ten thousand. This time, Max was genuinely shocked. If seeing over a thousand disciples earlier had already surprised him, then witnessing ten thousand gathered in a single hall left him momentarily speechless.
And this was only one of the thirty six halls. If all the disciples of the thirty six halls were to gather together then how the number of disciples would go? Moreover this was only the outer disciples, not the inner and core disciples.
The sheer scale of the Black Dragon Palace finally struck him with full force, making him truly understand just how vast and powerful this place was.
"Heh, look. The top three are here." Laura suddenly said, pointing in a certain direction.
Max followed where she pointed and soon spotted three young disciples making their way through the crowd.
Walking at the front was a man with an arrogant bearing, his posture and gaze filled with an air of superiority, as though the world itself should move aside for him.
Close behind him walked a woman with long black hair, her steps calm and elegant, her demeanor composed and graceful, standing in stark contrast to the man leading the way.
The last person walking behind them was another young man whose expression remained indifferent, his face calm and composed as if nothing around him could stir his interest.
"The one in the lead is Dale Feling, ranked third among the outer disciples." Laura explained softly. "He comes from one of the seven main families of the Black Dragon Clan. The woman behind him is Jane Lumin from the Lumin Family, also one of the seven main families. She is ranked second. The one at the back is Aden Holloway. He is not from any of the seven main families, but his strength is the strongest in our Thirty Third Hall. He holds the first rank among the outer disciples."
Max quietly examined the three of them and confirmed that their cultivation levels were the same as Carl and Laura, all of them standing at the peak of the Rebirth Realm. Yet among the trio, only Aden Holloway gave him a faint sense of danger, a subtle pressure that did not come from raw aura but from something deeper and far more restrained.
"Are you the one who took the Sword of the Sword Sovereign and also became Elder Virelia's disciple?" Dale suddenly stepped forward and questioned Max in an arrogant tone, his gaze sharp and filled with obvious disdain.
"What about it?" Max replied calmly, his expression relaxed.
"Nothing." Dale sneered coldly. "It is just that you do not look qualified for either of those things."
Max smiled lightly. "And yet they chose me over you."
Dale's expression darkened at once. "Do not think too highly of yourself, Max. You might be recognized by them, but here in the Thirty Third Hall, I am the one in charge. You are only a first level Rebirth Realm disciple, so you should behave like one."
"Oh, I will," Max said with a smile, then added casually, "But if that is the case, how are you the one in charge when you are ranked third?"
The moment those words left Max's mouth, Carl and Laura nearly burst out laughing. They hurriedly turned away, their shoulders trembling as they struggled to hold back their laughter.
Dale's face stiffened instantly. A flash of humiliation crossed his eyes before it was replaced by seething anger. Among the outer disciples, no one had ever dared to ask him such a question. It was a well known taboo, something no one touched, and Max had stepped on it without the slightest hesitation.
"Max, you are lucky this is a gathering," Dale said through clenched teeth, his eyes filled with venom. "Otherwise, I would have broken your legs and arms right here."
Max simply laughed, offering no reply at all.
That laughter only fueled Dale's rage further. Seeing Max ignore him so casually after provoking him made his blood boil. He shot Max a hateful glance, his thoughts filled with malice as he turned away. 'You had better pray you do not run into me during the trials,' he thought viciously before disappearing into the crowd.
"You should be careful of Dale," Jane said with a gentle smile as she passed by Max. "He is very narrow minded and conceited, so it is best to stay alert around him."
With that, she also walked away.
Aden did not spare Max even a single glance. He walked past as if Max did not exist at all, his eyes distant and unfocused, as though his mind was already far removed from everything happening around him.
"You really had to ask Dale that question," Laura said as she shook her head, her expression filled with a mix of amusement and concern. "Now he is definitely going to look for trouble with you."
Carl, on the other hand, simply smiled, clearly entertained by how things had unfolded.
Max shrugged indifferently. "Let him come. It is not like I fear him or anything."
Laura narrowed her eyes at him, studying his expression closely. "You sound extremely confident. Do you really think you can defeat him, and even us?"
Max grinned in response, a glint of playfulness flashing in his eyes. "Who knows." He laughed lightly, clearly unconcerned.
Just as Laura was about to continue the conversation, five figures suddenly appeared in the air above the central hub, their presence immediately drawing the attention of every disciple gathered below.
