Chapter 1420 Start of the Trial!
Chapter 1420 Start of the Trial!
With the arrival of the Seven Main Families of the Black Dragon Clan, the Thirty Six Hall Grand Trial was finally on the verge of beginning in earnest. The atmosphere around the trial site shifted completely, as if the land itself recognized the presence of those who stood at the very apex of the clan's authority.
High above the trial grounds, the air rippled gently as a massive flying arena slowly manifested. It was an awe inspiring structure, vast enough to overlook the entire trial site, yet positioned far above so that it did not interfere with the assessment itself. The arena floated steadily, supported by ancient formations and condensed divine power, giving off an imposing yet dignified presence.
At the highest tier of this flying arena were seven grand seats, each one crafted from rare divine materials and engraved with ancient runes that symbolized authority, lineage, and power.
These seats were arranged in a wide arc, ensuring that every member of the Seven Main Families had an unobstructed view of the entire trial site below. Behind each seat stood attendants and elders from the respective families, their postures respectful and restrained.
As the members of the Seven Main Families took their places, the pressure in the air deepened further. Even from a great distance, their presence alone was enough to make many disciples subconsciously straighten their backs and steady their breathing.
These were not merely spectators. They were the decision makers who could influence destinies with a single word.
In front of the flying arena, enormous holographic screens began to appear one after another. These screens hovered silently in the air, each one large enough to display the battlefield in perfect clarity.
Complex formations activated within them, allowing the screens to track individual disciples, magnify specific moments, and replay crucial actions in real time. Whether it was a test of will, comprehension, combat prowess, or survival, every detail would be recorded and displayed without omission.
Through these holographic displays, the Seven Main Families could observe any disciple they wished at any moment. They could focus on a single individual or monitor entire groups at once, comparing performances and judging talent with cold precision.
Every success and every failure would be witnessed directly by the most powerful figures of the Black Dragon Clan.
Below, the disciples gathered on Planet Cyrus could feel it clearly. They were no longer simply being tested by elders of their halls. They were standing under the gaze of the Seven Main Families themselves. Every step they took, every decision they made, could potentially be seen by those who ruled their future.
The trial had not yet begun, but for many disciples, the weight of that gaze was already a trial of its own.
"Alright, outer disciples of the Black Dragon Palace from all thirty six halls," an aged yet powerful voice rang out across the vast trial grounds.
An old man flew calmly into the air, his figure instantly drawing the attention of every disciple present. His white hair flowed gently behind him, and although his appearance seemed ordinary at first glance, the moment he spoke, an invisible pressure spread across the entire area, silencing all lingering whispers.
"I am Charley Waller," the old man continued steadily. "The Grand Elder of the Black Dragon Palace. I will be the one presiding over this trial."
At those words, countless disciples straightened instinctively. The Grand Elder himself had appeared. This alone was enough to show just how important the Thirty Six Hall Grand Trial truly was.
Charley Waller paused briefly, his gaze sweeping across the sea of disciples standing below, as well as the towering flying arena above where the Seven Main Families observed everything in silence.
"This time, the Thirty Six Hall Grand Trial will consist of three trials," he said calmly, his voice carrying effortlessly to every corner of the trial site. "The first trial will be the Trial of Heart. The second trial is known as the Path to Eternal Flames. The third and final trial is called the Hundred Battles Trial."
As he spoke each name, the atmosphere grew heavier, the disciples mentally preparing themselves for what was to come.
"If you perform well in the latter two trials," Charley Waller continued, "there is a high chance you will be awarded with significant rewards, including cultivation resources and inheritance techniques."
His tone then grew slightly more solemn.
"As for being selected as a true disciple," he said, "only those whose performance is truly top tier will be considered. Talent alone will not be enough. You must prove your worth beyond doubt."
The Grand Elder raised one hand slowly, and at that moment, the entire trial site fell into absolute silence.
"With that being said," Charley Waller declared, his voice echoing like thunder across Planet Cyrus, "I hereby declare the start of the Thirty Six Hall Grand Trial."
The moment his words fell, a wave of anticipation surged through the countless disciples. Some clenched their fists, others steadied their breathing, and many felt their hearts pounding violently in their chests.
The trials had begun.
"All the disciples, follow me!"
Grand Elder Charley Waller's voice echoed clearly across the vast trial site the moment he landed on the scorched ground of Cyrus. His feet touched the earth lightly, yet the space around him seemed to settle, as if even the restless flames of the planet acknowledged his authority.
Without waiting, he turned and began walking forward, leading the sea of disciples toward the first trial site. The direction he chose led straight toward one of the massive dome shaped structures that the disciples had noticed from afar the moment they arrived.
Up close, the dome appeared far more imposing than it had from a distance. Its surface shimmered faintly with runes and symbols that seemed to shift and rearrange themselves, as though the structure itself were alive.
As the disciples drew closer, the atmosphere began to change. What was once merely a faint sensation in the air slowly grew heavier, denser, pressing down on their bodies and minds alike.
An invisible aura flowed outward from the dome, and with every step forward, that aura transformed into tangible pressure. Some disciples felt their breathing grow labored, while others felt a strange tightening around their hearts, as if unseen hands were testing their resolve.
Max felt it immediately.
The moment that aura washed over him, his eyes widened slightly.
"This feeling…" he muttered under his breath, his expression turning serious.
He knew this aura. He was intimately familiar with it.
