Chapter 1422 Trial of Mind Begins!
Chapter 1422 Trial of Mind Begins!
Grand Elder Waller stood before the colossal skull, his aged eyes reflecting the pale gleam of dragon bone as his voice echoed clearly through the dome.
"This is the remains of a Black Dragon, a true dragon," he said slowly, allowing his words to sink into the stunned silence. "Legend has it that one hundred thousand years ago, a great war purged the entire Divine Realm. Countless beings fell in that catastrophe. Entire star realms were shattered. Ancient races that once stood at the pinnacle of existence vanished overnight. At that time, true dragons still walked the heavens. They were not merely bloodline holders like us. They were the origin. They were sovereign beings whose very breath could collapse mountains and whose roars could tear apart the void itself."
His gaze lifted toward the cavernous eye sockets of the skull.
"This true dragon participated in that war. It stood on the battlefield against entities so powerful that even now their names have been lost to history. Yet even a true dragon, a being we revere as divine, was not spared. It fell like countless others. When the war ended, only this head remained."
A faint sigh escaped his lips.
"Later, our ancestors discovered these remains. They recognized what it represented. Not merely power, but legacy. They transported it here and sealed it within this dome. Since then, it has served as a trial site for our disciples. What once soared across the skies now stands as a test for the younger generation. Such is the cruelty of time. Even the mightiest beings are eventually reduced to relics."
The disciples listened in stunned silence, their hearts pounding.
To them, dragons were sacred. Even diluted dragon bloodlines were a source of pride within the Black Dragon Clan. True dragons were regarded as near divine entities, untouchable and eternal. The thought that one had perished was difficult enough to accept. The realization that it had died in a war shook them to their core.
One disciple whispered hoarsely, "A war that could kill a true dragon… what kind of enemies were they facing?"
Another swallowed hard. "If true dragons existed back then and still fell, then the Divine Realm must have been a completely different world."
"I cannot even imagine a battlefield where such beings fought," someone muttered. "How could anything survive such destruction?"
The atmosphere grew heavy with awe and unease.
For the disciples who carried dragon bloodlines within their veins, the revelation struck even deeper. They had always believed that the peak of their bloodline traced back to invincible ancestors. Hearing that those ancestors had once been slain made the Divine Realm feel far more dangerous than they had ever imagined.
Grand Elder Waller allowed their murmurs to continue for a moment before raising his hand for silence.
"You should not feel despair," he said firmly. "Instead, you should feel pride. This skull is not a symbol of weakness. It is a symbol of endurance. Even after death, its will still suppresses you. Its aura still commands respect. That is the legacy of a true dragon. It is proof that strength leaves a mark that even time cannot erase."
His voice hardened slightly.
"Today, you will stand before the remnant of such a being. If you cannot endure the pressure of a corpse, then how will you ever hope to stand in the Divine Realm where true dangers still exist? The Trial of Heart begins here. Endure the suppression of this dragon's will. Confront your fear. Confront your limits. Only those whose hearts do not crumble beneath its aura are qualified to proceed."
The disciples felt their breaths grow heavy once more as they looked up at the towering skull.
What had once been a majestic dragon that ruled the heavens now loomed over them as an unyielding judge.
And they understood clearly.
This was not merely a test of strength.
It was a test of whether their hearts were worthy to carry the blood of dragons in a realm where even true dragons had once fallen.
Grand Elder Waller continued. "You will have ten minutes. Once I start the trial, you will all have ten minutes. Those who are knocked down or fallen unconscious will be eliminated from the trial."
With that being said, Grand Elder Waller, looked towards the elder responsible for the trial site.
"Your trial starts now!" Grand Elder Waller announced.
Grand Elder Waller's voice had barely faded when the elder beside him activated the formation.
In the next instant, the aura pouring from the black dragon's skull exploded outward.
It was not a gradual increase. It was a violent surge.
The pressure multiplied a hundred times.
The air inside the dome seemed to solidify. It felt as if an invisible mountain had descended from the heavens and slammed directly onto every disciple present. The faint red glow inside the hollow eye sockets of the dragon skull flickered ominously, and the oppressive will contained within those ancient bones awakened like a slumbering beast disturbed.
Many disciples did not even have time to react.
Several of the weaker ones cried out as their knees buckled beneath them. Their bodies trembled uncontrollably, veins bulging across their foreheads as they tried to circulate their energy to resist. The dragon's will bore down not only on their bodies but on their minds, as if an ancient gaze was judging the worth of their existence.
One disciple let out a choked gasp before collapsing face first onto the ground.
Another staggered backward with wide, terrified eyes. "I… I cannot breathe!"
His vision blurred. The weight crushing down on him felt endless. In his mind, he seemed to see a colossal dragon soaring through a blood soaked sky, its roar shaking the world apart. His heart faltered under that imagined roar.
He fainted.
One by one, some weak minded disciples crumpled to the ground without even lasting a few breaths. Their consciousness was extinguished by the overwhelming will contained within the dragon's remains. For them, the trial ended the moment the true pressure descended.
Even those who remained standing were far from comfortable.
Groans echoed throughout the dome. Many disciples dropped to one knee, their palms pressed against the ground to prevent themselves from collapsing completely. Sweat poured down their faces as they gritted their teeth. Their bones creaked audibly beneath the immense gravity intertwined with dragon might.
