Chapter 1463 14th Layer and Beyond!
Chapter 1463 14th Layer and Beyond!
By the time Max reached the deepest part of the thirteenth layer, the shock outside the dome had changed in nature.
Earlier, every breakthrough had caused an uproar. Every new layer had been met with gasps, shouts, trembling voices, and wild disbelief. Now, as the projection displayed Max standing calmly at the threshold of yet another boundary, a strange numbness had settled over the crowd.
They were no longer screaming.
They were no longer questioning how it was possible.
They simply watched in pure shock.
Inside the Path to Eternal Flames, Max did not pause. The two buds on the flame branch of the Chaos Tree pulsed rhythmically, devouring the refined energy of the thirteenth layer with frightening efficiency. The surrounding chaotic flame laws bent unnaturally toward him, siphoned away before they could exert their full oppressive force.
He could feel the fourth and fifth leaves trembling intensely. Their saturation was almost complete.
"There is no need to delay," Max thought calmly.
The final stretch of the thirteenth layer burned fiercely ahead of him, but compared to the earlier layers, it no longer felt like an insurmountable wall. With two buds actively refining energy and his own strength reinforcing his advance, the pressure had become manageable.
He stepped forward without hesitation.
Twelve thousand eight hundred miles.
Twelve thousand nine hundred miles.
The projection above flickered as his figure moved steadily. Outside, the elders and family heads stared silently. Their expressions were no longer filled with raw disbelief. Instead, there was a deep, unsettled awe.
"He is crossing again," an elder said softly, almost to himself.
Victor Veron did not respond. His gaze was fixed upward, his mind clearly trying to recalibrate its understanding of limits.
Henry Lumin folded his hands behind his back, his expression solemn. He no longer attempted to reason through it.
Lilith Carol exhaled quietly. "We thought the twelfth layer was the peak for this realm. Then we thought the thirteenth would be a miracle. Now…"
Her voice trailed off.
Garry Heron stood rigid, his face devoid of its earlier dismissal. He did not speak. There was nothing left to argue.
Inside the Path, Max crossed the final few miles of the thirteenth layer with controlled acceleration. The flames parted under the combined force of his aura and the Chaos Tree's relentless absorption.
He reached the boundary.
Without wasting a single moment, he stepped forward.
The barrier shimmered briefly before yielding.
Max entered the fourteenth layer.
Outside the dome, there was no explosive reaction this time.
There was only silence.
A deep, heavy silence.
The projection stabilized, revealing his figure standing calmly within the fourteenth layer as though this ascent were nothing more than a natural progression.
The elders did not shout.
The disciples did not scream.
They simply stared.
They had become numb to the impossible.
Each higher layer no longer felt like a boundary being broken.
"Are we witnessing something monumental or what?" an elder finally said, breaking the heavy silence that had settled over the viewing platform. His voice carried genuine disbelief. "I feel like I have been shocked more times in this single trial than in my entire life."
A faint ripple of uneasy laughter passed through a few nearby elders, though it quickly faded. The projection above continued to show Max standing firmly within the fourteenth layer, the flames swirling around him as though they no longer possessed the authority to suppress him.
Another elder folded his arms tightly across his chest as he spoke, his gaze fixed upward. "If Max keeps moving at this pace, then he might even cross the twentieth layer. That is the limit reserved for inner disciples."
The words hung in the air like a forbidden thought.
"Nah, that is impossible," a different elder responded immediately, though his tone lacked the certainty it once would have carried. "No matter how many miracles he creates, the twentieth layer is a completely different domain. That is where Law Awakening Realm inner disciples reach their limits. He is only at the first level of the Rebirth Realm."
"Are you certain?" another elder interjected, shaking his head slowly. His eyes reflected both awe and resignation. "This young man has shattered every boundary we thought was absolute. First the twelfth layer, then the thirteenth, and now the fourteenth without pause. Each time we said it was impossible."
Victor Veron remained silent for a long moment before speaking in a low voice. "The twentieth layer has always been regarded as the domain of inner disciples who have begun awakening true laws. If he approaches it at this realm, then the foundation of our understanding will need revision."
Henry Lumin's brows were drawn tightly together. "Even the strongest outer disciples in history could not cross the twelfth. The thirteenth and fourteenth were never even within consideration. Yet we are now debating the twentieth."
Lilith Carol sighed softly. "We keep clinging to old limits. Perhaps it is not that the Path has changed. Perhaps we are simply witnessing someone who does not conform to it."
The earlier frenzy had been replaced by something more profound. It was no longer simple shock. It was the gradual collapse of long held convictions.
Another elder spoke quietly. "I used to believe the Path to Eternal Flames was the ultimate measure of potential. It drew clear lines. It revealed ceilings. Now those lines are blurring."
The elder who had doubted earlier shook his head again, this time more slowly. "I would not be sure of anything related to him anymore. Every time we try to define his limit, he walks past it."
Above them, the projection continued to display Max advancing deeper within the fourteenth layer, steady and composed.
The question was no longer whether he would stop soon.
The question had become how far this era was about to be pushed beyond everything they had believed possible.
As the elders and family heads continued debating whether Max could truly approach the twentieth layer, the projection above shifted subtly.
Within the fourteenth layer, Max had remained still for several moments. The sovereign flames swirled around him in dense spirals, pressing down with authority that would have crushed even seasoned inner disciples. Yet he had not moved.
He was examining his Chaos Tree once more.
Inside his inner world, the transformation was far from complete. Three buds had already formed on the flame branch, each devouring energy and chaotic flame laws with relentless efficiency. The fourth and fifth leaves trembled intensely, their surfaces glowing with deep crimson light. The energy absorbed from the thirteenth layer had pushed them to the brink of saturation.
Now, within the fourteenth layer, the density and purity of the flame laws had increased once again. Streams of refined energy poured inward at an astonishing rate. The buds pulsed rhythmically, refining everything that entered. The first dark red fruit hung calmly, its surface glowing faintly as if stabilizing under the constant influx of nourishment.
Max could feel it clearly.
The fourth leaf was close.
Very close.
He exhaled slowly and opened his eyes.
