Dimensional Keeper: All My Skills Are at Level 100

Chapter 1744: An Ambush?!

Chapter 1744: An Ambush?!

Nancy nodded slowly, but her thoughts were no longer as calm as before.

She had thought she understood Max’s strength after seeing him kill Karo, destroy thousands of demons, and gain twenty-two million Killing Points in such a short time, but the more she spoke with him, the more she felt that she might still be underestimating him.

His strength was terrifying, but what made him even more dangerous was his mentality. He did not place demons, elves, the Sword God Palace, the War God Palace, or even ancient legacies on some unreachable pedestal.

To Max, they were all things standing somewhere on the same road he had chosen to walk, and if they blocked him, then they would become enemies to be crushed rather than mountains to be worshiped.

For a brief moment, Nancy even felt that perhaps her prince had also underestimated this human.

Soon, as the two of them flew across the sky, a city came into view below them.

Unlike Starfall Haven, which had carried a bright and peaceful silver radiance, this city looked darker and more ancient. It was built between several curved stone ridges rising from the golden sands of the Eternal Hourglass, and its walls were formed from pale gray crystal engraved with countless protective runes.

A faint dome of neutral energy covered the city, preventing battles from breaking out inside, while several wide roads stretched from its gates toward different dangerous zones in the surrounding region.

Although it was much smaller than Starfall Haven, many participants could still be seen moving through its streets, resting, trading information, healing injuries, or preparing to enter the deeper parts of the Eternal Hourglass.

“This should be another neutral city,” Nancy said while looking down.

Max lowered his gaze toward the city.

For a moment, everything seemed normal.

Then his eyes narrowed slightly.

In the next instant, several sharp auras suddenly erupted from different directions around them.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Hundreds of figures rushed into the air from the city below, from nearby ruins, from the stone ridges, and from hidden positions in the clouds. In only a few breaths, Max and Nancy were completely surrounded above the neutral city.

Some of these people were humans, some were elves, and some belonged to other races with strange appearances, but all of them had one thing in common. Their weapons were already drawn, their auras were fully prepared, and their attacks were locked onto Max and Nancy as if they had been waiting for them to arrive.

The sky became tense instantly.

Sword lights hovered in the air.

Spears of energy gathered above several hands.

Bowstrings were pulled tight.

Runes lit up across floating talismans.

A few participants held chained blades that glowed with poisonous light, while others summoned elemental formations beneath their feet, ready to unleash attacks the moment they received the order. Hundreds of killing intents pressed toward Max and Nancy at once, forming a heavy pressure that made the air around them feel as though it had turned solid.

Nancy’s expression changed.

“This is not normal,” she said in a low voice.

Max’s gaze swept across the people surrounding them, and his expression remained calm.

He had expected danger on the way to Witch God Valley, but he had not expected hundreds of participants to appear so suddenly around a neutral city.

More importantly, judging by the way they had positioned themselves, this was not a random encounter. They had been prepared. They had been waiting. Someone had known their route.

A tall man in dark blue armor slowly stepped forward from among the encircling crowd, his long sword held loosely in his hand, while several sharp sword lights circled around his body like obedient spirits. His gaze landed on Max first, then briefly moved to Nancy before returning to him again.

“Max,” the man said coldly. “You finally arrived.”

Nancy glanced at Max.

“You know him?”

Max looked at the man for a moment, then smiled faintly. “No.”

The dark blue armored man’s expression stiffened slightly, clearly displeased by that answer.

Max continued calmly, “But from the way he is looking at me, I can guess he is either from the Sword God Palace or someone hired by them.”

The man’s eyes became cold.

“Your guess is not wrong,” he said. “You offended the Sword God Palace, and you still dare to fly openly above a neutral city as if no one can touch you?”

Max raised an eyebrow. “I have been busy killing demons. I almost forgot you people were still chasing me.”

The surrounding participants immediately stirred.

Some of them looked angry, while others exchanged uncertain glances. The name Max had already begun spreading after his sudden rise in the Cosmic Ascension Ranking List, and some among them clearly knew that the person standing before them now had reached the seventh rank with twenty-two million Killing Points.

That number alone was enough to make many people hesitate, but greed, orders, and the prestige of the Sword God Palace had still brought them here.

Nancy’s eyes turned sharp. “You people chose a very interesting place to block us. The city below is a neutral zone. Are you planning to attack us in full view of its protection rules?”

The man in dark blue armor smiled coldly. “We are not inside the city.”

Nancy’s expression darkened.

He was right.

They were above the city, close enough to see its streets and protective dome below, but not within the actual boundary of the neutral zone. The surrounding participants had chosen their position very carefully.

If Max and Nancy descended into the city, they would be protected, but right now, in the air above the outer boundary, nothing stopped these people from attacking.

Max glanced down at the city and smiled faintly.

“So that is why you waited here.”

The dark blue armored man raised his sword slightly, and the hundreds of participants around them immediately tightened their formation.

“You can still surrender,” he said. “Hand over your Killing Points, come with us peacefully, and perhaps the Sword God Palace will leave you with a few lives.”
