Chapter 1843: Releasing the First Vein
Chapter 1843: Releasing the First Vein
The moment they closed the distance, the central stage transformed into a battlefield of pure physical violence. Rakan’s body, empowered by the First Limit of the War God Body, no longer felt like mere flesh and blood. Every punch he threw carried the weight of a collapsing mountain, and every step he planted sent tremors through the stage.
The bronze light wrapped around him was not ordinary energy but the awakened force of his blood, his bones, his muscles, and his organs, all releasing the power that had been stored behind the first shackle of the War God Body.
He appeared before Max once more and drove a punch toward his chest. Max raised his arm and blocked it.
Boom!
The impact forced Max’s body to sink slightly. The dark gold stone fractured beneath his feet, and a ring of force rippled outward across the stage.
Before Max could answer with a counter, Rakan’s second punch had already arrived, followed by a knee strike, an elbow, and a crushing slam of his shoulder. His attacks chained together like the beating of war drums, and each one landed faster and heavier than the last.
Max blocked, deflected, and countered, yet the difference created by the first limit was impossible to ignore. War Blood Awakening had lifted Rakan’s physical power onto another plane entirely. His body had grown stronger, his blood burned fiercer, and every movement carried a violent rhythm of battle that sought to overwhelm Max completely.
Boom!
Rakan’s fist hammered into Max’s crossed arms again, and this time Max slid back several steps.
Outside the Eternal Hourglass, the War God Palace disciples roared with delight.
"Rakan is suppressing him!"
"Even Max Morgan cannot match the War God Body forever!"
"Crush him!"
At the Black Dragon Clan, many disciples ground their teeth. Max had not drawn Dragonheart, had not invoked the Emotion Severing Path, and had not even revealed his dragon scales. To them, the sight was equal parts thrilling and terrifying.
If Max could truly match Rakan through his body alone, his reputation would soar to new heights. But if he insisted on fighting this way for too long, he might suffer a crushing defeat before ever bringing out his real advantages.
On the stage, Rakan pressed the attack once more. His fist tore through the air and fell toward Max like a bronze war hammer.
Max raised his hand and caught it.
Boom!
The stage shuddered yet again. This time Max’s feet sank into the ground, but his body did not retreat a single inch.
Rakan’s eyes narrowed.
Max slowly lifted his head. There was no anger in his eyes, no panic, and no frustration. In their place shone a clear brightness, as though the pressure of Rakan’s War God Body had finally handed him the answer he had been searching for.
"You are strong," Max said.
Rakan grinned. "You are only realizing that now?"
Max shook his head lightly. "No. I confirmed it."
Rakan’s smile froze for the briefest moment.
Max released Rakan’s fist and stepped back once. His body grew utterly still. For an instant the sounds of battle seemed to fade around him, and even the violent bronze aura bearing down on him appeared to pause.
Then something deep inside Max’s body began to rumble. It started low, and it was deep and ancient, as though a sealed gate somewhere within him had begun to swing open.
The participants on the pillars sensed the change immediately.
Damian Voss’s gaze sharpened. Orion Starfall’s smile slowly dissolved into genuine focus. Kaiden Voidmere’s eyes narrowed as he murmured, "Something inside his body is awakening."
Ervin watched Max in silence, his abyssal gaze sinking even deeper. "Is one of his hidden foundations?"
Revona opened her eyes a little wider, and the void-colored light within them flickered as though straining to see through to the source of the change.
Aurelian Lareth frowned, and Selene Vaeloria’s face grew colder still.
Morgana Starveil tilted her head slightly, and for the first time in a long while her smile disappeared. "Now what is he opening?"
On the central stage, Max drew a slow breath as the rumbling within him grew louder. It was nothing like Rakan’s War God Body, in which blood and bones and muscles roared with the intent of war.
The change taking place in Max felt far more foundational and far more primal, as though the very root of his existence was being reinforced from within, and every part of his body was being reminded of its true origin.
A faint and profound glow surfaced beneath his skin. It did not resemble ordinary light in any way. It felt like the first pulse of life stirring inside an ancient body.
Max’s voice rang out with perfect calm.
"Seven Divine Veins."
Rakan’s eyes widened slightly as heard those words.
Max’s body rumbled once more, and this time the sound reached so deep that the stage itself seemed to answer it.
"First Vein."
The air around him sank.
"Vein of Origin."
Boom!
A terrifying pulse erupted from Max’s body. It lacked the wildness of Rakan’s War Blood Awakening, yet it ran far deeper. The instant the Vein of Origin opened, Max’s physical body seemed to grow heavier, denser, and more complete.
His bones, his blood, his muscles, his skin, his organs, and even the hidden foundation of his body were all strengthened at the root. This was no simple increase in raw strength. It was a reinforcement at the level of origin itself, as though his body had returned to a purer and mightier state of existence.
Cracks spread outward from beneath Max’s feet, but this time they were not the result of him being driven back. They came from the sheer pressure his body released while he simply stood in place.
The viewing plaza of the Black Dragon Clan fell utterly silent, and then someone shouted.
"What is that?"
"His body just changed!"
"He opened something inside himself!"
"Seven Divine Veins? Did he just say Seven Divine Veins?"
Lady Virelia’s eyes widened a fraction, and even the seven family heads looked shaken. Only a handful of people had ever known that Max cultivated the Seven Divine Veins, and since Lady Virelia was among them, her surprise was far milder than everyone else’s.
At the War God Palace, the shouting grew unsteady. The disciples who had been roaring for Rakan only a moment earlier now stared at Max in open disbelief. They could not comprehend what had just happened.
Max’s body had not swelled, he had not transformed into a dragon, and he wore no armor of any kind. Yet the pressure rolling off him made even some of the War God Palace’s own disciples feel their blood constrict.
