Chapter 1959: Max vs Aelric Evercrest!

Chapter 1959: Max vs Aelric Evercrest!

The formation beneath the central battlefield kept brightening as Max and Aelric stood facing each other.

The first battle of the Bloodline Legacy Battle had already been decided before anyone else even got the chance to move. Max Morgan, the champion of the Cosmic Ascension Conference and Rose Evercrest’s chosen representative, had stepped into the arena first and challenged Aelric Evercrest directly.

To outsiders, it looked like arrogance. To the Evercrest Clan, it looked like provocation. To Rose, it was both a dangerous gamble and the fastest path to the legacy merit she needed.

Aelric Evercrest stood across from Max with his hands behind his back, his green and silver robe stirring gently as faint spatial ripples flowed around him. He didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t release his aura right away. Instead, he looked at Max with a faint sneer.

"Show me what I have got? Don’t make laugh," Aelric said, his voice smooth but cold enough to carry across the battlefield, "don’t think too highly of yourself just because you won the Cosmic Ascension Conference."

The moment he spoke, the whole arena quieted a little. Plenty of people from the Four Sacred Clans narrowed their eyes with interest. Aelric’s words weren’t just aimed at Max. They also voiced what a lot of sacred clan geniuses secretly felt.

The Cosmic Ascension Conference had been grand, and Max’s win had shaken the Divine Realm, but the Four Sacred Clans hadn’t actually sent their strongest hidden heirs into that stage. To them, the conference mattered, but it hadn’t fully represented the deepest strength the sacred clans held.

Aelric continued, "The Divine Realm might call you the strongest genius of this generation, but that title only stuck because the stage you stood on was incomplete."

Rose’s expression turned colder. On the Evercrest platform, several young descendants smiled faintly, clearly pleased with Aelric’s words.

Aelric kept his eyes fixed on Max. "If the geniuses of the Four Sacred Clans had taken part in the Cosmic Ascension Conference, things would’ve gone differently. Do you really think you’d have walked away with twenty-four wins and no losses if Cassian Valerius, Draven Ashbourne, Seraphine Ravenhart, or I had stood across from you inside the Eternal Hourglass?"

A wave of murmurs moved through the arena. The Valerius platform stayed dignified, but several descendants there looked toward Cassian with pride. The Ashbourne platform burst into a few low laughs, as if they were already picturing Draven tearing through the so-called conference champion.

The Ravenhart side stayed quiet, but plenty of silver-purple eyes watched Max carefully, waiting to see how he’d respond. The Evercrest side was the loudest, since Aelric’s words had directly defended their pride.

"Being called the strongest genius of the Divine Realm without ever facing the sacred clans’ strongest heirs," Aelric said, his sneer deepening, "is almost funny."

Max listened calmly. He didn’t get angry. He didn’t release any killing intent. He didn’t bother pointing out that he’d defeated Revona, Damian Voss, Ervin, Orion Starfall, Kaiden Voidmere, and countless other top geniuses.

He also didn’t remind Aelric that the Primordial Race itself had acknowledged his victory, granted him the champion’s highest reward, and chosen him above everyone else.

He only smiled. That smile was light, almost casual. And somehow that casualness made Aelric’s expression turn colder.

Max looked at him and said, "Are you done?"

The arena went quiet again. Aelric’s eyes narrowed.

Max continued, "You’ve already said the Four Sacred Clans are stronger. You’ve said the Cosmic Ascension Conference was incomplete. You’ve said things would’ve gone differently if you’d taken part."

His smile stayed exactly the same. "Now show me."

The words were simple, but they hit harder than any angry outburst would have.

Aelric’s sneer froze slightly.

Max raised Dragonheart and let the black blade rest casually at his side.

"Show your strength instead of just talking."

For a breath, the battlefield went completely silent. Then the Ashbourne platform burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! Good!"

"That outsider’s got some nerve!"

"Talking’s useless. Fight if you’re strong!"

Even a few Ravenhart descendants smiled faintly, while the Valerius side watched with more interest than before. On the Evercrest platform, plenty of expressions turned ugly. Aelric was their strongest heir of the current generation, and Max had just brushed off his words in front of all Four Sacred Clans.

Rose stood below the Evercrest end and quietly let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. This was Max. He didn’t need speeches to defend his title. He only needed his sword.

Aelric looked at Max for a long moment. The faint sneer slowly faded from his face, replaced by a cold, elegant smile.

"Very well," Aelric said. "Since you’re so eager to see the difference between the Cosmic Ascension Conference and the sacred clans’ stage, I’ll show you."

His aura finally began to rise. The green-gold light around him deepened. At first it looked gentle, almost beautiful, like the vitality of an ancient forest waking up under sunlight.

But the next moment, that beauty turned strange. Space around Aelric folded in layers. The air split into faint transparent surfaces, each one reflecting a different angle of the battlefield. Thin threads of life force spread out from beneath his feet and sank into the arena floor, merging with the runes as if trying to claim the battlefield for himself.

The pressure of peak Law Manifestation Realm came down over the arena. It was powerful, far stronger than what ordinary young geniuses could put out. Aelric hadn’t exaggerated about being one of the strongest heirs of the Four Sacred Clans.

His cultivation sat at the peak of Law Manifestation Realm, and his forbidden bloodline had clearly pushed his foundation past normal limits. The moment his aura spread, plenty of ordinary descendants in the arena felt their chests tighten.

Rose’s expression turned tense. "Aelric’s Evercrest bloodline," she whispered.

Max’s eyes stayed calm. His Dimensional Sovereign Body immediately picked up on the shifts in space around him. Aelric wasn’t just releasing aura. He was quietly folding the battlefield into layers, getting ready to turn the arena into a domain that favored him.

The life force threads sinking into the ground weren’t harmless either. They were anchors. Once enough of them spread, Aelric would likely be able to seal off movement, redirect attacks, and restrict space itself.

Max smiled slightly. "As expected, you’re better when you stop talking."

Aelric’s gaze turned colder. "Let’s see how long your arrogance lasts."

Angelina Valerius, who’d stepped back to the edge of the battlefield, raised her hand. The formation between Max and Aelric lit up fully. Her voice rang across the arena.

"First battle of the Bloodline Legacy Battle."

"Max Morgan, representative of Rose Evercrest, against Aelric Evercrest of the Evercrest Clan."

She lowered her hand. "Begin."
